This is our second time in Madeira but first time in this hotel. The location is excellent a 30 min walk into Funchal and 2 min walk from location restaurants, shops and bars. The hotel is huge. The room was clean and was kept clean throughout our week stay.
Great location for visiting Funchal but the hotel did not have all the amenities offered, e.g. the gym was next door in the shopping mall and had a strict access policy. I forgot to take a towel so they would not let me in. There were no instructions in the hotel room about how to access the gym either which would have been helpful. It wasn't open until 9am - not very good if trying to get a gym session in before breakfast finished at 10.30am.
The breakfast buffet was adequate, but if you were not there by 9.30am, items had run out and not replaced even though breakfast was supposed to be until 10.30am. I asked one day for a banana, and they did not have any good ones, only damaged ones available. My husband said the toasting bread was poor quality as well as the “butter” or some sort of spread.
The Wi-Fi was poor, and they asked for a 50 euros deposit for a Wi-Fi router for our room, which also didn't work, so we returned it and got our money back. The Wi-Fi was on and off most of the holiday.
There was no iron and board allowed in the room, instead quite a trek to an ironing room in another part of the hotel, via reception. Who wants to show everyone their ironing in reception?
On the day we wanted fresh towels, we were advised to leave them on the floor. We went out on a trip at 8.30am, and when we got back at 6pm, the towels were still there so we had to phone reception to bring clean ones.
The pool bar was good, and I liked the indoor pool which was nice and quiet, although there seemed to limited spa services offered as no one was around.
Love this hotel right on one of the main roads in Funchal. Service is great and the breakfast buffet easily compares to those in five star hotels I have stayed at. You can take a bus from the airport to the hotel for six Euros one way and it will drop you off at the doorsteps to the hotel. This hotel will be closing for a complete makeover early next year.
Parking was weird as you had to park in the near underground mall parking. Room was fine and the location was decent. Room was next to the road so it was noisy late into the night.
We stayed for 2 weeks at the Views.
Check in was smooth, quick & friendly.
The apartment was spacious and roomy, Shower was fabulous, very clean &well looked after. We had a queen size bed, a lovely kitchen area, and a good sized balcony.
We booked breakfast, lots to choose from, very fresh & tasty.
The pool area was spotless, always beds available & a lovely pool
I used the spa which I loved. Only criticism, we had to find the indoor pool & jacuzzi, badly signed. When we found the indoor pool, it was lovely.
Great location, bus stop across the road. Lots of restaurants & cafes . Beside the Lido & a beautiful walk along the promenade.
If you turn right , there is a small local supermarket 5 mins away, lot cheaper than the Spar shop beside hotel.
(Definitely try the cake shop in the same direction, scrumptious fresh cakes.)
Staff are extremely helpful & friendly.
We can't wait yo go back
God beliggenhed, venligt personale og gode faciliteter!
Beautiful hotel, great water view from our room, very clean and a super breakfast buffet. Enjoyed the swimming pool many times, and walks into town. Staff were very helpful when required. I would strongly recommend this hotel.
The hotel is very dated. The rooms need to be refreshed. Location is pretty good. The pool and bar area is nice.
I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights during my time in maderia, booked an apartment facing the front of the hotel, and the Atlantic Ocean, the centrally located in funchal , with plenty of restaurants, bars and shops nearby.
Check-in was quick and easy, the receptionist was very friendly and explained everything to me.
The apartment was huge, with a bedroom, sitting room and mini kitchen and balcony overlooking the front and the sea .
Breakfast was served on the top floor of the hotel, it wad buffet style, with plenty of choice to choose from , you could have your breakfast inside or outside if you wish overlooking the sea.
All the staff that I encountered was friendly, happy, and professional. Nothing was to much trouble.
Wanted a massage in the hotel spa, but unfortunately it wad closed all the time during my stay.
I would return to the hotel in the future next time I am in funchal.
Great hotel, super clean, lovely sea view from balcony (we were on the 4th floor), helpful staff, free car park.
Just returned from a week at the Monumental and had a nice time. Great location at the Lido with the bus service into Funchal old town regular and inexpensive (€1.95 one way ). For those more energetic, Funchal old town is about a thirty minute casual walk from the hotel.
We had requested a high floor room but were given one on the next to ground floor even though the people who checked in after us were given a high floor. To be fair they moved us to a high floor the next day and the views to the sea were fantastic.
Breakfast was decent and plentiful but it was strange that no one asked for your room number when going to the dining room, meaning that anyone could walk in off the street and get a free breakfast.
I understand that there will be a major refurbishment in January 2025 which will freshen the place up. Quite a few lifeless areas in the hotel and again strange that the lounge bar was not open for business as advertised.
Plenty of sun beds everywhere and the upstairs sunbathing area was particularly good with fantastic views looking over the sea.
All in all, a lovely stay and we would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Funchal.
Great base for everywhere in Funchal. Friendly staff , the pool attendant was very busy cleaning pool and general maintenance. They take recycling very seriously which is good to see . Spa and jacuzzi are the best I’ve been in . Great choice for breakfast and superb omelette, cooked how you like it . Chambermaid was so friendly and reception staff very helpful. Very nice stay .
Great Hotel in Madeira island.
A bit far from the city center of Funchal, still walkable.
Our room was in top floor(11th) and from balcony we had great views towards pool area and sea. Comfy bed with pillow menu, working AC, OK Wi-Fi, good shower and huge breakfast buffet, so what else you could want? Location for us was OK, because city's best beach was near, lots of shops, stores and restaurants around. and for example Hop-on Hop-off buses leave 50 metres away from main entrance. Old Town is not so close, but if you are in decent shape, it's walkable...although because of climb, not so easy to walk back. But taxis were cheaper than in many other European tourist cities and we used Bolt app drivers, which were even cheaper.
Ottima struttura ben organizzata, colazione a buffet eccellente, posizione strategica
Great area with lots of restaurants around and walking distance to the old town
No complaints, clean, good value. Friend reception.
Great hotel, all staff are lovely. The buffet breakfast has a great selection whatever your taste.
Lots of sunbeds available but not always that comfortable, but lots of areas are nice and quiet to enable you to get engrossed in your chosen books.
This hotel is amazing ! Our apartment (216) was perfect loads of room, spotlessly clean we had free water , clean towels ect everyday, the cleaning maid Maria Goncalves was so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us, she was absolutely lovely as were all the staff!!
The pool bar had a good selection of food and getting a sunbed was never a problem!
We were in a prime location surrounded by lovely restaurants,(Chinese, Indian, traditional Portuguese)I highly recommend this hotel!!
The only negative comment I would say is the breakfast was lovely but not very hot and a few days there was no cups or glasses to have a drink, we did ask for them but waited a long time for them to come out! But this didn’t put us off we definitely would stay here again!
