Really well situated in Blenheim, Hotel d’Urville could just be the nicest place, but considering the cost of staying there, I think it could do with a bit of updating. There is certainly a cool retro vibe which we liked, but considering it’s in one of the most beautiful parts of NZ it could offer a bit more. The staff were super and helpful.
Needs a bit of an update !
A beautifully renovated, large room with real character. Very comfortable king size bed.
A slightly larger bar fridge.
A beautiful historic building with period features throughout. The room was luxurious & comfortable with good water pressure in the shower.
Staff went above & beyond to enable an early check in & memorable stay.
We did not eat or drink at the hotel.
Still under refurbishment, the restaurant is due to open soon.
The people who originally bought this old bank did a good job of retaining some interesting original features. The staff we met, (when they were on site) were polite. The room was a good size. As the hotel doesn't provide breakfast, at least there were a list of local eateries in the room
Usually, when a hotel is undergoing renovations, you are alerted to this at the point of booking. In this case, we were not. So, disappointing to find the dining area closed off and in a mess. When we arrived at 5.30, receptionist gave us the passcode for our room and then left. No staff on site after that, until 9.30 a.m. And for a hotel that describes itself as boutique, it needs to do better than a tiny bar of soap in the shower. This hotel has so much potential, but current owners/managers need to lift their game
It’s such a lovely old style setting, lots of nice little touches, lots of history, we really enjoyed the complimentary port offered each night and it’s so close to all amenities and to some really lovely cafes
There was some sort of rave music coming from nearby both nights we stayed, we had to put sleep sounds on to drown it out so we could sleep. Pillows need replacing, all very flat
Habitaciones con mucho estilo, cómodas, y limpias. Ubicación preferencial a distancia a pie de restaurantes y cafés.

Great location with parking. Friendly and helpful staff. Our room decor was individual and cosy. Great bar!
The hotel restaurant was undergoing renovation works so there was some noise from the workmen. We were not advised prior to our stay that these works were taking place. Also there were some things that needed fixing - a cracked pane of glass in a room window and a well worn toilet seat! Both of which can be easily replaced.
Lovely room. Wonderful breakfast.
Lovely old world decor, very comfortable bed, manager Emma and the other staff are delightful and very accommodating. The bar is cosy and the bar snacks very tasty.
The staff was lovely very helpful and friendly
Its ridiculous that they do not have an elevator irrespective that they mention there are stairs. The staircase is very difficult and winding PLUS damaged my luggage handle by having to pull it up, much too heavy to carry that disctance
Everything.
Great beds. Central location
