The perfect first night stay in Pondicherry, this hotel is slightly tucked out of the way, however all the popular areas
Pros:

Maison Perumal in Pondicherry is a beautiful heritage hotel—it truly feels like stepping back in time. Worth every penny, with a calm, retreat-like atmosphere that’s both relaxing and transporting.
The welcome was incredibly warm—I genuinely felt like a valued guest from the moment I arrived. The flower garland was a lovely touch, and I really appreciated them sitting down with a map to walk me through the area.

Everything was explained perfectly, from breakfast timings to housekeeping, along with the complimentary activities offered during the stay. I was also told about all the experiences run by the hotel that I could take part in, which was a great touch. I was then personally shown to my room, given a full tour, and it was so thoughtful to find a handwritten note and some goodies waiting for me.

Overall, the level of care, attention to detail, and hospitality really stood out—an experience that felt both personal and memorable.

Cons:

If I had to note one small dislike it is that the hotel wasn’t fully occupied during my stay, so at times it felt very quiet. While the staff were attentive, it occasionally felt like there were a lot of eyes on you, which could feel a little overwhelming. That said, it clearly came from a place of genuine care and attentiveness.

Relaxing stay with very good food
Pros:

Filter coffee through the day is a brilliant touch. The cooked breakfast options were very good, but the baked goods needed to be much better. The staff are very helpful & efficient.

Cons:

A few brighter lighting options in the room would have been nice.

Felt like summer vacation at grandma’s home. Loved having meals in the open courtyard.
Pros:

Breakfast was thought of really well. The menu was compact but included a healthy spread. Millet ruled our 2 days stay.

Cons:

The heat was too much. Need to do something in the lobby and breakfast counter as it is too very hot. There is no place to just sit and relax.
Also the coffee and tea in the room needs some more attention. One of the rooms did not have the coffee maker another did not have coffee powder.

Great location, history, food was amazing! And wonderful experience.
Pros:

Fab ambience, amazing story and heritage. Really comfy accomodation, bathroom was great, private and quiet yet in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Really well done renovation.

Strong recommend for guests visiting Pondy
Pros:

Traditional chettiar style living by travel back in timeline was awesome.Location close to ashram,kovils and Beach is perfect.Breakfast is so healthy and so much care has been put in to the menu selection.Love this palce

I am sorry-still finding the faults to report- it would be trying to find the needle in a haystack!!!
