Amritara The Poovath Beachfront Heritage, Fort Kochi

Lovely property. All food was very good and well presented. Lovely staff. Loved the upstairs veranda with view past the promenade to the river.

Property location is good , staff could be more proactive in providing cleaning and a better room with a view for multiple night stays

I liked the location and property. The food provided was good too. However, the staff did not clean our room 2nd day and did not provide an option for ocean facing room.

It was a fantastic experience. Everything went well, from the contact previous to my arrival to the professionalism and grace of everyone highlighting the hotel's driver, Manuel and the breakfast and dinner staff who were amazing. I recommend to anyone who wants to be close to the traditional centre of Fort Kochi and Mattancherry, but also with easy access to other areas of Kochi.

Cons
Wifi stopped working post 9.30 pm and despite complaining nothing happened. It miraculously started working at 7 am making us believe that it was switched off just like the kitchen which closes at 9 pm.
It was informed earlier but kitchen dinner time needs to be extended beyond 9 pm.

Excellent Stay. Jiya was so hospitable for check-in and room and food was amazing. Located just in front of Fort Kochi Beach, in a posh and chilled out vibe locality. Thank you so much for the hospitality. We will spend a longer stay next time. Thank you

Excellent service, great location & fantastic staff - just what we needed for our family’s one night pit-stop in Cochin - special shoutout to Jia and her team who organised everything smoothly from an early check in to sightseeing suggestions and a taxi on call.

I recently stayed at this charming small hotel in Old Kochi, and it was truly a wonderful experience. With only six rooms, the atmosphere feels warm and personal, more like a beautiful home than a hotel.

What really stood out was the staff—both at the front office and the restaurant. They were genuinely kind, helpful, and made me feel truly welcome throughout my stay. Dinner in the colonial patio was absolutely fantastic—delicious food in a beautifully serene setting.

The hotel has preserved the character of the original private villa, which adds a lot of charm. The only slight downside was that my room was a bit noisy at times, due to the original main staircase that isn’t soundproofed—but honestly, that’s a small trade-off for staying in such a unique and historic place.

Highly recommended for those who appreciate heritage, great hospitality, and a peaceful location in the heart of Old Kochi.

We stayed three nights at Amritara Poovath Heritage and our stay was excellent.
Our room with sea view was very clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly, Ms Jiya and Mr. Gokul accomodated our special requests so speciap thanks to them.
We will definately visit again.

Excellent service, home ambiance, friendly and attentive staff. Jiya at the front desk very professional and made sure of our needs and comfort. Hotel very centrally located, good restaurants and shopping all in close proximity, overall a good experience.

Stayed here for one night only on our way to Munnar. Beautifully maintained heritage property. Car needs to be parked on the street since the hotel does not have any parking facility but it was not a problem for us. We had 2 Deluxe Double room, one on the ground floor and the other on the first floor. First floor room was bigger but faced the next door cemetery. There is no lift but the staff help with luggage. Entire hotel including our rooms was clean and well maintained. Location is really good, a few minutes walk from main Fort Kochi area. Room size was good and bathroom was spacious. Air Conditioner worked well. Room had enough space for luggage and was equipped with tea/coffee facility, electronic safe and bedroom slippers. There was no chair but one was provided once we asked. Bed and pillows were comfortable. The hotel has a small pool which we couldn't utilize due to time constraints. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Food was decent. Those who are so inclined, please note that the hotel does not serve alcohol. Service was attentive but some of the staff are not very well trained and had difficulty while taking food orders but overall attitude were positive. The dinning area is not air conditioned and mosquitoes can be a nuisance. If we go back to Kochi we will definitely consider this hotel for a second stay.

Reviewing the restaurant only. Lovely environment and very friendly staff. Extensive menu which seems to be around the clock, with a board of particular specials. Generous portions and fairly priced given that you are dining in a hotel. Note this hotel is not licensed, so no alcohol is available. Very pleasant meal but not spectacular and a bit bereft of atmosphere as only 2 tables dining all night.

Tasteful with very peaceful ambience and gentle staff very helpful - the pool is small but adds the refreshing dip in hot Kochi . Great location close to all the main attractions and eating places . except for breakfast we did not eat in the hotel

This is a wonderful heritage hotel. It is a sanctuary. A beautiful garden, quiet rooms and great beds. The staff is welcoming. Yadav who works in the restaurant is charming and very helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel restaurant is excellent and the chef provides very fine food.

We had the most amazing time at Amritara The Poovath Beach Heritage Hotel. From booking to checkout everything ran so smoothly. The service was warm, our beds were comfortable, the food was delicious and the beach views from the hotel are phenomenal (especially during sunrise and sunset). As a woman, I felt completely safe.

A special mention to Gokul for his kindness and patience as he booked multiple tours, drivers and laundry services for us. Another special mention to Yadab and Dheergan and their friends for their warm hospitality at the hotel restaurant. We already miss the place greatly! 🥰

Our recent stay at the Amritara was very special. The people of Kerela are wonderful and so are the staff at this amazing heritage home. The food at the restaurant within the Amritara is fantastic. The breakfast, lunch and dinner. The relaxing pool area and the great location makes this place in the heart and soul of Fort Kochi. They helped with organizing activities and rides and were so accommodating. A special mention to the staff Ritesh, Ajay, Jiya, Ollvin, Yadav, Afridi & Gokul.

Spent a memorable night at The Poovath Heritage in Fort Kochi. The colonial-era bungalow's location is perfect - right by the sea and walking distance to the famous Chinese fishing nets. Our room featured classic heritage furniture and timeless décor that transported us to a bygone era. The multi-cuisine restaurant served excellent food, and the verandah offers scenic views of the Arabian Sea. The property's intimate size and historic character make it a perfect base for exploring Fort Kochi's rich cultural heritage. Great value for those seeking an authentic heritage hotel experience.
