A slice of peace and tranquility, but still close to Ao nang for restaurants, trips etc, spacious lodges, instead of a box room. We would definitely book again.
My kids and I stayed here for a couple of days. Its a lovely place with friendly, helpful staff. A little bit out of the way and too far to walk to the beach. They supply a ride to take you to the beach, as I don't drive this was very helpful. The only bad point was there is no restaurant, but they do offer snacks in the morning at no extra cost. The views were amazing and if you want quiet, its a peaceful location away from the busy crowds.
The staff are amazing, friendly and so helpful. The swimming pool and deck area was clean and tidy. Beautiful rooms great location. Brilliant restaurant nearby called Beams Kitchen fresh cooked food Thai & English menu lovely staff good value for money. Great beaches nearby.
This was one of the most unprofessional welcomes I’ve experienced in all my years of traveling. I arrived two hours before check-in and was told my room wasn’t ready, which I understood, so I waited in the reception area. About an hour later, another couple arrived—also before the check-in time—and were allowed to check in straight away. It was only when the receptionist saw me watching their conversation that she told me my room was ready too. There was no communication during that whole time—no radios, no updates, nothing—so I have no idea why I had to wait and only got access to my room after someone else was helped. It felt unfair and poorly managed.
When I was being shown to my room, the staff member opened the balcony doors and suddenly screamed. I asked what was wrong, and she said there was an issue with the bed, then left me outside on the porch while she went to get someone else. When she returned, I asked again why she screamed like that, and she avoided the question. I pressed her further, asking if there was an animal or something in the room, and she vaguely admitted she had seen an insect or animal, but didn’t clarify what exactly it was.
She then brought a maintenance man to check the room, and they both laughed about the situation in Thai while I was standing right there. It made me feel very uncomfortable and disrespected. She then told me it was fine because whatever it was couldn’t be found, so it must have gone. At that point, I said I didn’t feel comfortable staying in that room anymore.
We returned to reception together, and as we walked, she kept laughing with other staff members about what had happened, even though I was right beside her. It felt incredibly unprofessional and dismissive of my concerns. I already felt like leaving, but decided to give it another try.
They moved me to a different room, but unfortunately, this room was filthy. The surfaces hadn't been wiped down, and there were watermarks everywhere (photos attached). I asked housekeeping to come clean the room again, and it took them three separate attempts over the next 24 hours to do it properly.
I didn’t feel comfortable at all during my stay. I stayed one night and then checked out. I requested a refund, which they did provide, thankfully, but it was such a disappointing experience overall. I had really been looking forward to staying here, but I was shocked by how unprofessional and careless the staff were. I would absolutely avoid this place at all costs
Very hard bed, but everything else was lovely.
The limestone cliffs from the property around the pool were awsome and striking!
The hotel was nice and the room very spacious.
The lobby was also very spacious but with the property grounds lacked plants and flowers, was very bare.
After reading some reviews AFTER booking I was a little concerned !
No need . We had a lovely stay.
We have stayed in Ao Nang on and off for 28 years and watched it grow from beautiful tranquility to tourist hell.
Phu Petra was like stepping back in time . Lovely location , attentive helpful staff , big clean rooms.
It's not a 5 star luxury resort. It is a 5 star typical southern Thai charm accomadation and HUGE value for money $600 australian dollars for 8 nights .
Light free breakfast . Shuttle.bus to main Aonang . 5 min walk to some great quiet Thai family restaurants .
Great pool area .
Little.peace of Heaven in AoNang.
Thankyou Phu Petra

The staff here is so friendly and amazing. They made sure to make me feel safe and that I had everything I needed. The property is beautiful and the rooms are really spacious. Great stay.
Beautiful place, far from the madding crowd of Aonang but close enough to walk to the main stretch. Villa is huge and has a bath, drop shower, mini fridge and deck area. The view is stunning and you feel quite remote even though you are close to town. The pool was fab and the kids lived swimming up to 9pm. The room was great and had everything we needed. Stop at 7/11 for sodas and drinks if you like to have something in your room. There is only coke and soda at the hotel. There is no food but the lay on a simple breakfast which is enough to get you on your way. The staff were delightful and nothing was too much trouble. They sorted laundry, bowls and extra glasses for us when required. You can book yoga at the hotel up the road and there is a nice pizza place two minutes walk away. Also Rainbow restaurant 5 min walk from villas is a nice cheap meal. The villas could use a spruce up but honestly we loved it and it felt like great value for money. We walked down to the beach and were relieved to get back to our peaceful accommodation.
We booked this property after reading all details, services, and facilities provided in the Expedia description.
All the details are not correct as in the description.
There is no site restaurant, no cafe, no vending machine even for water.
This is not as described at all! The hotel is run down and doesn't look anything like the pictures. Some reviewers said their " dining experience " had been good. This can not be true - there is no restaurant! The room looked clean, but bedding and towels were old and tired. We couldn't stay there and found another hotel.
We stayed at this resort 7 years ago and loved it. The pics you see on the website are old ones and now are very misleading. If we could have rates <1 we would have. Extremely run down. No restaurant, not even a pop cooler. A total of 6 broken lounge chairs for pool. Exposed wiring all around pool. No hand rails on main steps. Uneven concrete surfaces everywhere. Landscaping has been abandoned, long grass and neglected. Rooms are horrible. Old, tired old towels thin, ripped. Bed is frightful. Bath smells of sewer gas. Lobby looks abandoned and not welcoming. This is the absolute worse hotel we have stayed in in all our world travels....even worse than 3rd world nation standards. Finally on last morning we go to shower, no water and they could not fix before we had to depart. No shower, no toilet...We paid 155 cad per night and this should have been 50 or less per night. Don't ignore this review, and yes we are picky, but being honest. Book elsewhere...not here.

Wow. What a stay!
Aonang Phu Resort is perhaps the best stay in town for the price per night.
Firstly the rooms are absolutely huge. Not only do you get a massive bedroom, but there’s a private study area, a huge bathroom with bath and shower & a front porch to relax during the evening.
Secondly the pool. The views of the surrounding hills and jungle are stunning. There could be a couple more sun beds but we never had issues. The pool is well maintained and modern.
In terms of location you are about a 10 minute walk from the top of town. It’s about another 20 minutes to the beach, but we loved the walk through the jungle and passing all the restaurants. Those with a scooter will be absolutely fine. There’s also a free shuttle service to the beach on the hour throughout the day.
Plenty of cheaper restaurants closer too. Highly recommend Rainbow which is about a 7 minute walk away. Tee restaurant in the jungle is an absolute must and can be reached by walking 20 minutes deeper into the jungle or a quick taxi journey to the nearby 5 star hotel ‘Anana’.
There’s a Macro superstore close by should you need to stock up on supplies & you’re close to the Mountain Buddha Temple too.
Unfortunately the on site restaurant is closed but we experienced this in a lot of hotels across Thailand. We presume it’s a result of COVID.
However unlike other places where you just have to get on with it, Aonang Phu provides a buffet of toast, cookies, teas, coffees, hot chocolate & jams every morning by the pool. Completely free!
The staff are wonderful. So friendly and helpful. Room was cleaned every day & easy to book taxi from front desk.
We had a power cut one morning and lost all water and electricity. The staff had the issue fixed within the hour.
If you’re looking for your own private piece of paradise away from the noise of the main strip, but somewhere you can use as a base to easily get to day tours and other islands. This is the place!
We payed around £30 a night and honestly it felt like we should have been paying three times that!
We will be back!
The place is quite and the room is spacious. But the facilities seems outdated. No in room telephone, no dining option, WiFi is unstable.
I chose a quiet room. When we arrived we noticed that right in front of our terrace a guest was working online all the time and was talking very loudly. The management could not assign me an adequate alternative room. We agreed that my reservation was canceled free of charge. However, despite repeated warnings, I did not receive a refund.
Absolutely love this hotel. I stayed here 5 years ago with my children and it is still as amazing as I remembered. In the jungle. A lovely walk from the hotel to the town where you get to see a bit of real Thailand. The rooms are beautiful. We were very lucky that there were only 4 other couples on site (covid has been hard on Thailand) because of that it felt like we had our own private hotel. The restaurant and bar were not operating which was great as we were able to bring in own drink. The staff have been so helpful. Free shuttle to town. Will definitely stay again and recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy the nature of Thailand.
I wouldn’t choose to stay here, unfortunately my friend and I ended up having to check into another hotel due to the smell and mosquitoes in the room.
Also the restaurant, bar etc was closed.
The serene setting in a rainforest under the magnificent cliffs! Like no other!
Nice hotel, beautiful pool and great breakfast selection. The only thing is that it’s a little tired / old and was expecting more luxury and higher quality for the price paid. Additionally, it’s a tad far from the main strip - it’s walkable and there is a shuttle but just keep that in mind as its a bit isolated
