Charmante auberge au bord de la Vendée
Très beau site, calme et très bon accueil

C’est la 3eme fois que nous séjournons dans cette auberge et c’est toujours avec grand plaisir. Chambres très agréable pour un prix raisonnable et table gastronomique délicieuse.

Le restaurant au bord de l’eau est délicieux et très copieux.
Nous avons eu un problème de clé magnétique pendant notre séjour et la direction a fait un agréable geste commercial à notre départ. Merci.

Dans un cadre champêtre et verdoyant, la qualité de l’accueil, de l'hébergement est au rendez-vous. Personnel attentionné. Propreté au top. Sans oublier la restauration généreuse et inventive.

Je n avais jamais séjourné dans un endroit aussi charmant apparavant. En plus de la qualité d accueil et prestations hébergement impeccable, vous pouvez vous laisser tenter par le restaurant gastronomique adjacent pour finir la soiree divinement. Je recommande vivement et retournerai à coup sûr! !!

Beautiful location on riverside, we were upgraded to a room with patio and garden seating. Breakfast excellent unfortunately the restaurant was closed on the night of our stay so had a 12 kilometre drive in town to eat. The hotel did email us to let us know that the restaurant would be closed.

Beautiful location, peaceful and calm beside the river. It is a very convenient base for exploring the Vendee and the Marais, while being off the beaten track.
The hotel itself is very attractive, clean, comfortably furnished, and clearly cared for. Our rooms faced the river, and were comfortable and quiet. Good bed, good shower, good storage. Everything we wanted. The food is amazing, and the breakfast generous and tasty. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I really do recommend this place to anyone who wants a peaceful, comfortable, stay with good food and good access to the area. 10 out of 10

A one night stopover. Nice friendly family run hotel, next to the river. Very pretty, old world charm. Comfy beds and good size rooms.
The restaurant is very good, excellent quality food for a reasonable price, although it may not suit young children, young adults may enjoy the unusual menu.

Main reason for staying was to eat at the restaurant but the new rooms in the riverside annexe were delightful, although small. Well appointed with good beds and modern en suites. We will return!

Overnight stop whilst traveling north....... very comfortable rooms and superb food

If you like a very peaceful night with good food and service then you will have found the right place. with the bedroom window open to hear the sound of the river running past the patio, and a footpath along the river for a morning walk, (make Time) it is a great place to stop over, Plus Fonternay Le Compte is a nice place to visit .

When we arrived at the Hotel , having been told by you it was not necessary to reconfirm, we found that the Hotel was overbooked and we had been relocated to another Hotel 5 miles away which did not provide evening meals so we had to return to Auberge de la Riviere at Vellure for dinner. We had chosen to stay at the Auberge because we had a very long journey, we are both in our 80s, and wanted to stay where we were to eat that evening. we had hoped that we might have had at least a complimentary bottle of wine as a gesture of goodwill, and although the meal was good, we were not happy at having to drive back another 5miles to go to bed. .We therefore have no idea how good or bad this Hotel is.

The Auberge is located on the banks of the Vandee River, in a small village about 10km from Fontenay le Comte. You have to like things beautiful and quiet. It is a retreat, although still only a few kilometers from the A83 for those who don't like to feel too far off the beaten track. My room had all the essential comforts and was full of character. It was well serviced. There are no drinks in the room - you have to ask - but that seems typical of the area. Although English is spoken the whole character of the place is very French, like most of the Vandee. That is the way I like it and if you feel the same you will like this place too.

Lovely place for a short stay and well positioned for La Rochelle, location by the river is great and the quality of food is superb. Village very quiet, a relaxing and enjoyable stay of three days.
