The Borrowdale restaurant features a fine menu of locally sourced and fresh food, and friendly staff. Please note we like our guests to have a special experience when dining in our restaurant and kindly request casual but smart attire and no faded/ripped jeans, branded t-shirts, shorts, trainers, walking boots ,flip flops or shorts.

Great food, comfortable hotel, friendly staff.
Located near Lake, good walks on the doorstep. Relaxed bar and garden area.
Been coming here on and off for about 15 years at least. Ideal for Buttermere, Honiston zip wire and a lovely walk round the lake into Keswick. More mature guests than the sister hotel at Lodore. Relaxing and quiet environment.
Fewer staff than in previous years and it shows. Food and drink service not as efficient as in past. Meals in bar and restaurant quite expensive. Our bath was not cleaned one day, which would not have happened previously
Location, fantastic breakfast and a lovely garden to enjoy a drink in.
Reception and bar service was a little slow
Great location and safe parking for my motorcycle. Staff were lovely and room very comfortable. The shower was great and hot. Breakfast was tasty and great choice
Het uitzicht en het restaurant waren uitstekend. Daar heerlijk gegeten en een prima en snelle bediening. Ook het restaurant bij de bar (pub restaurant) waren uitstekend.
De kamer was erg klein. Ik heb even in andere kamers gekeken en die waren een stuk ruimer. Ook het bed was erg klein. Als ik bewoog, bewoog mijn partner mee. Was wel prima schoon.
Evening meal was fantastic, staff very helpful.

All requests were catered for by the hotel for my wife's birthday, not often do hotels get it 100% right, but the staff here did.
Full breakfast wasnt freshly cooked and felt/tasted like it could have just been on a self serve system, bit of a let down to how the evening meal the night before.
The staff were absolutely lovely, and it’s all so dog friendly - staff were constantly coming up to say hi to our dog and make sure everything was going well! The room was lovely, very nicely decorated, and the shower was excellent. The food was also great.
Great location where you could go start a short walk or long hike from the doorstep and close to the lake and hills.
The room was small and the bed soft and small and the bathroom was very bright with no possibility to turn off the fan. General decor is dated.

Flees in hotel contacted the manager who said basically its midges from the window being open which was not open I stated this

Very pleasant staff throughout. I expected something a little shabby but it was immaculate and fitted out beautifully. The scrambled egg for breakfast was perfection

New staff need familiarisation training so they don’t send guests on a hunt for their room.
More clarity on which rooms are non dog friendly or a better cleaning methods to protect new guests from allergies cause by previous occupants pets.
