Very good value for money but looks far more interesting on the outside than on the inside. Avoid the restaurant.
Pros:

Nice rooms and common areas. Bedroom was well appointed. Lady at reception was pleasant. Good selection of tea and coffees. Breakfast was well cooked and reasonable section. Great they had proper decaf tea.

Cons:

The food was overpriced and unexciting in my opinion. I had the cod and celeriac main. The cod loin was minuscule with a large portion of celeriac to make up for it. Main restaurant was very very loud I could barely hear my colleague speak. Shower was average at best not very powerful and not a rain head. TV was very small by today’s standards. Mattress on bed was no wear near as comfortable as the ones on Premier Inn.

Overall had a lovely, relaxing stay and would come again
Pros:

Comfortable beds, quiet, good selection at breakfast

Cons:

Spa- the swimming pool was so cold and the hot tub wasn't much warmer.
Staff- wasn't informed of the choices of where you could go for food/drink in the hotel and when we asked a waiter he didn't seem to know. Ended up waiting nearly 25 minutes to be served in a bar and when the food came the portions were tiny for what you paid for.

The building and grounds are fantastic, like the mansion out of Resident Evil.

Bars are great, had a reall good atmosphere in there.

Pool area is a bit tired.

Pros:

The staff were overall very warm. Clean rooms and restaurant etc. The facilities are dated (look like something from the 70s) but more than sufficient. Would have been nice to have access to more towels, robes (non spa) in the room for that extra comfort touch

Cons:

They charged us a pet fee at the end which was never mentioned in the correspondence or at check-in so was surprising.
