Beautiful setting & dinner was very nice, but service staff not no very high.
Pros:

Buffet breakfast with fried eggs that looked and felt like joke rubber ones. When we asked for milk for coffee it was taken from another table that had just been vacated. Seating for 2 is very close together. Luckily, the couple next to us were very friendly & we had a great chat.

Cons:

Our room was supposed to be a suite but was 2 rooms with door open. 2nd room had different furniture but it needed 2nd key card for power at its main door. It certainly didn’t feel like a suite. The building itself is magnificent but the bedroom was very tired.

We enjoyed the building, location and facilities.
Pros:

The hotel was a lovely building, close to Norwich for our theatre night, we came from Kent. It was all a 60th birthday treat for two friends.
I requested two rooms next to each other well in advance, I’d paid an extra £30 to have one room ready so we could use the spa if arrived early - there was no need for that as we could have stored our overnight things there or in the lockers on the spa, I was not told this, also when checked in and reminded two rooms together the answer was ‘I will try’, I felt that was not good enough and should one lady be left in a room alone and away from us not good - I expressed this, luckily when we collected the 2nd key we were next to each other but I felt that this would not have happened had I not have stressed it, my friend is recently widowed and she needed to be close - I’d treated two friends for their 60th and felt no attention to detail given.

Cons:

Lack of staff attentiveness. However the lady in the bar who served out G&Ts was fabulous.

Love the building but do not feel price reflects service provided.
Pros:

Beautiful historical hotel and grounds. Perfect location for a visit to Norwich City.

Cons:

First stayed here during Covid and assumed the lack of room amenities was a 'Covid thing'. Turns out this is standard. For the price I would have expected toiletries in the bahrooon - there was only hand/bodywash which doubled as shampoo. No conditioner, moisturiser or other bathroom staples. Tea and coffee facilties in the room was sachets of coffee - would have expected a coffee machine for the price. The breakfast was on par with a Toby carvery - nothing speical at all. There were a few enterainment events going on in the hotel over the weekend, I got the impression that thse guests were their priority rather than guests who just want a break in the local area.

Pros:

Beautiful hotel near Norwich, with comfortable rooms, access to indoor swimming pool and delicious breakfast. The dinner was good too and the staff very courteous and professional. We would recommend it to anyone who visits the area.

Cons:

A little outdated, but not too bad.

Nice stay but bar staff were not bringing drinks to table after ordering and paying the waiter had to wait 15 mins then
Pros:

Location, grounds, swimming pool nice room

Cons:

Dogs everywhere even allowed in restaurants and can sleep in bedrooms
We don’t agree with this as some people have allergies to pet hair and you’re unsure where previous animals have stopped

Lovely accommodation and facilities but appalling service
Pros:

The room was lovely, immaculately clean and lived up to the description. The health and pool facilities were excellent. The bar was welcoming and comfortable. The grounds were delightful and well tended.

Cons:

Official check-in time was 3:00 pm but you could pay for an early check-in; we didn’t. We arrived at 2:00 pm and were told we hadn’t booked an early check-in and the room wasn’t ready. We waited and were allocated a room at 2:55 pm. We hadn’t paid but we found out the room had been ready much earlier. Not a great first impression.
Although the room was lovely, immaculately clean and lived up to the description, there were no glasses, only tea mugs. I called reception and subsequently housekeeping but nobody answered. I walked to the bar to get 2 water glasses. The bar was comfortable but understaffed.
In the dining room, most tables for 2 would not have been out of place in a MacDonalds: bench seating and small chairs, Formica table surfaces and no table cloths. Other reviews commented on the slow service in the dining room. They were not overstated. Dinner service was slow and breakfast service almost non-existent. At breakfast there was a long queue because tables had not been cleared and were unusable until cleared. They ran out of glasses for water/juice, 2 of the 3 coffee machines were ‘out of service’ but amazingly brought to life by a fellow guest who ‘rebooted’ them. Quite simply there were too many trying to have breakfast at the same time and very few staff.

Lovely hotel
Pros:

Lovely hotel. Everything was of a very high standard.

Cons:

Because the hotel has a number of different buildings, clearer instructions to find our room would have been helpful.
