Our room and bathroom were huge with a very comfortable bed and pillows, and extremely clean, with modern furniture which wasn't out of place. During the hot weather a fan was provided which was a massive bonus to keep cool at night. All staff were lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Hotel had history and was located within the town square, next to the castle and wonderful walk to the Swiss Cottage (don't miss), the Abbey and viaduct. Food was fabulous and I thoroughly enjoyed the Irish breakfast. Thank you, my only wish is that we could have stayed longer and we hope to return.
Central location
I was staying in Room 100 and live music started in a function room below at about 10ish, I think. I called reception several times from 11 o'c onwards to see what time it was going to stop at, as it was unbearably loud and I eventually got a response on fifth or sixth attempt. Presumably they couldn't hear the phone because the music was deafening. The person who answered the phone told me I should have been advised that it was going to be noisy on check-in and told me it was going to stop at 12.30 am. I wasn't (had I been told, I would have requested another room as had an early start the following day) and the music didn't stop. The staff -in particular the manager- was extremely rude and offhand. Totally accept that everyone has a bad day but he was just as rude the second morning as well. When I was leaving, I asked him where the exit to the car park was and without uttering a word, he pointed to a door and stomped off. It was almost comical. While waiting for some food the previous evening, I another manager attack some young lad who was very obviously waiting for someone and she told him that he couldn't wait there. Very poor waiting staff and food terrible-I ordered hake and got some other kind of white fish. You'd expect someone to ask if this was ok but that didn't happen. The fish on the plate was warm but the potatoes and veg underneath it on the plate were cold. I could go on, but don't have the patience. Not one person asked me if everything was ok. When I was checking out, the receptionist on the desk was so focused on scrolling on her phone, she barely looked up at me. I would not recommend this place-really poor standard of hospitality and very definitely overpriced.
Beautiful hotel! Friendly staff. Restaurant and bar on site after a long day of travel was nice.
Needed windows open to sleep due to warm temperatures and was at a bit of a noisy intersection.
Friendly helpful staff. Great breakfasts and also evening meals in the bar.
In the center of town close to restaurants, the castle and public transport. The hotel was comfortable, clean and staff were very friendly.
The rooms were a bit dated, but otherwise comfortably furnished.
Very friendly staff and food was excellent and good value for money
A lot of stairs. Difficult if not impossible for people with mobility issues but perhaps that's simply the nature of the building
The location is perfect for a stay in Cahir and the hotel itself is a fantastic example of an "old" Irish hotel with plenty of nooks and crannies and a beautiful back garden. Parking is available for free which is an added bonus. The breakfast was superb.
Unfortunately, there was only one staff member at checkout on Sunday morning and she seemed far more interested in chatting with her friends that dealing with the large queue that was forming in front of her. Besides her making the decision to have a chat with her friends it would also be much better if management deployed an extra team member to help with check out, particularly at the busiest time on a Sunday morning.
Très bonne localisation
Personnel au petit soin
Restaurant et bar tres bien
The bed & bed linen were excellent. Restaurant & breakfast excellent. Most of the staff were great.
Noise outside - people & cars. Shouting Saturday night until 2am. Told not to drink the bathroom water but no bottled water supplied. Bathroom bit tired. No info online about parking.
