The view was amazing, room a little small but very nice. Mini bar well stocked although crisps were out of date. Staff very friendly.
Blocked in when parked on leaving day
Friendly and nicely designed bright and spacious room. Super friendly staff. Great location
The bed was not as comfortable as I hoped.
Great location, clean, and very helpful and nice staff. Beautiful view on the church.
I would wash the curtains as they had multiple stains, all the rest was very clean
Excellent welcome from lady on reception, room on the small side but spotless with comfy bed and amazing views of the priory over the road. Bathroom had bath and powerful shower again spotless. Mini bar and snacks availalble in room which you pay on exit which is a fab touch. Stairs to room on the narrow side so be careful! Looking forward to visiting again and thankyou for a wonderful stay in your amazing property!!
Unfortunately wasn’t a great one, room was lovely inside tho tv remote didn’t work so couldn’t use the tv our son, before we arrived we had booked a room on ground floor for me and my wife and our 2 year old which booked with a bed for him in mind, when arrived the woman at reception was confused he was with us and went to check the paper work realising it stated a toddler, after that I paid for the room upon arrival then was asked to leave card details for any damages or £100 upfront and returned 5-7 days, for some reason my wife’s card and the card I just made the payment with was showing on her system card expired even tho just used it, regards with this she wouldn’t budge baring in mind our 2 year old was getting restless and all tired so had to contact family to try and use there card which thankfully worked, we then got the keys to find out we was put on first floor through tight stairs then had to go down some stairs to get to our room which was really inconvenient specially when whoever put us there didn’t clearly check the paperwork for the booking! On this basis it put a bad taste on the holiday from the start as the damage charge was not listed either so didn’t expect it and wouldn’t come again specially after realising we had a toddler and didn’t apologise with the mistake just wanted the money and done with us in that case our problem! Also for anyone pay and display parking near by and was steps into the building so that I know off no ramp etc if anyone needing it.
Very friendly staff , nicely decorated hotel and great location.
I am sad to give a poor review of Yorvik House as it is a historic building in a perfect location opposite the gateway to the museum garden overlooking St Olafs church and the ruins of St Mary's Abbey. FABULOUS. The reason I disagree with the luxury stay status is that the hotel has no AC. The heat during our stay made the room unbearable and it was impossible to sleep at night. The plaster on the walls in the bathroom was flaking and the fridge temperature too warm as was the cold water which was tepid.
This is the reason whilst we love the location and in the main the hotel itself regrettably we shall not be staying there again
Ideal location, within walking distance to the train station and the city.
Where the property was it was quiet no noisy traffic!
Overall this was definitely one of the nicer hotels we’ve stayed in, we couldn’t fault our room apart from the heat and the noise. I wish my bedroom at home looked as nice! It’s in a beautiful location overlooking the park, the hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are very stylish inside.
The only real downside was an unadvertised security deposit policy. The card machine wouldn't accept our cards for the deposit—despite just using one to pay our room balance.
After 10 stressful minutes with a tired toddler on a hot day, we were asked for a £100 cash deposit. We eventually resolved it by calling a family member to give their card details over the phone. Clearer communication about this policy and better flexibility when technology fails would make arrivals much smoother.
A couple of other minor niggles such as the remote control for the TV not working and our room being up two flights of stairs despite asking for a ground floor room when I booked because we were travelling with a pram, as the hotel has no lift, we had to carry the pram up the stairs.
Fantastic location for the Museum Gardens gigs & shopping. Building was quirky & very comfortable. Shower was good, bed very clean & comfy. Would very happily return.
Nothing.
The property is very comfortable with a Nordic theme, well decorated and maintained throughout.
The property was in a fantastic location, it was spotlessly clean and the staff were lovely and helpful. I would definitely return. The lady on reception moved us room as there was a concert on nearby and she didn’t want it bothering us which meant we didn’t have a view from our room but it was nice of her.
There was nothing we didn’t like.
Location was excellent
For a three-day stay, I think we could have expected the room to be cleaned at least once and the tea/coffee tray to be refreshed. We did get fresh towels when we asked though, and everyone was friendly.
Great hotel. Very polite staff.
Room was lovely, well decorated & equipped. Great bathroom with massive walk-in shower
