Lovely and clean. Had a beautiful view. Can’t fault our stay . Second year here and hopefully back next year.
Had contacted the hotel prior to arrival regarding an issue with 2 of our party arriving 2 days later. Was confirmed it wouldn't be an issue, on arrival was advised room had been cancelled. I had to pay again, this was a little frustrating but was resolved fairly quickly with a refund confirmed and processed within an hour. Our room 803 was spotless clean, comfortable bed, beautiful views over pool and Marina. The level of cleanliness and cleaning was outstanding.
Having a fridge in the room was great, we hired a kettle from reception for our morning cuppa.
Stayed bed and breakfast and wasn't impressed with the breakfast. Whilst there was a variety of produce the hot offering was cold. This was off putting, granted there was a microwave to warm things up but this shouldn't be necessary. Ended up only using breakfast twice during our stay.
The main attraction if the hotel is the stunning roof top bar. Beautiful views lovely atmosphere and staff are so friendly. Reasonable priced drinks and singer and djs on during out stay were fabulous. Great location in La Carihuela and despite being close to promenade and other bars etc we were never disturbed in our rooms.
Weren't able to secure a late check out and there isn’t a room to use to get ready. This would be helpful especially if a late flight.
We would definitely stay again but on a room only basis.
Great hotel, nice clean rooms and great staff . Close to all pubs , restaurants . CRACKER Roof Top bar with brilliant views
Exceeded expectations – fantastic stay, amazing location, and unforgettable entertainment
We stayed at La Barracuda Hotel and, after reading some mixed reviews beforehand, I arrived with fairly low expectations. I’m very happy to say we were all genuinely surprised—in the best possible way.
Location, location, location
This really is the hotel’s biggest selling point. It sits directly on the beach and promenade, with no road or traffic between you and the sea, which makes such a difference. The views are absolutely stunning—you can sit on a sunbed and look straight out over the ocean.
Pool & outdoor areas
The pool is large and clearly very well maintained, with what appears to be a good water treatment system keeping everything clean and pleasant. The surrounding area is also well looked after, with a huge sunbed space and plenty of comfortable, good-quality loungers. Even though the hotel was full in early April, we had no problem finding sunbeds as long as we didn’t leave it too late (we tended to head out just after breakfast).
The sea views from the pool area are stunning and really elevate the whole experience.
A couple of small aesthetic points: the fencing around the pool is a bit of a shame visually, and some of the tiles just above the water line could do with maintenance—but these didn’t take away from our enjoyment.
Rooms
Our rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable. Highlights included:
Comfortable, firm mattresses with nice bedding
Plugs next to the bed
Lovely room lighting
Big sliding windows and a door to the balcony, making the room feel bright and airy
A nice balcony
A sofa bed which was really useful for keeping belongings organised
Plenty of wardrobe space—great for two people
We had rooms 216, 221, and 222. These were not pool-facing and stayed in the shade all day. This didn’t bother us as we didn’t spend much time in the room, but it’s worth noting. Room 216 was closest to the sea and had the better view.
Room location tips (sun vs noise):
Request a pool-facing room if you want sun on your balcony most of the day
Be aware these rooms may come with more poolside noise
Morning noise note:
Our rooms were on the road side of the hotel (a cul-de-sac with no through traffic), but there was noticeable morning noise from bin lorries and hotel deliveries (food and laundry).
If you enjoy a lie-in, this is definitely something to consider when choosing your room.
Also worth requesting a room away from lifts or stairs.
Room facilities & bathroom
Quiet air conditioning—great for sleeping
Full-size fridge with a small freezer compartment
Excellent hairdryer
Toiletries provided (combined shampoo/body wash plus a small bar of soap), and they smell lovely
Large mirror in the bedroom—perfect for getting ready
The shower was excellent—hot, powerful, with both an overhead rain shower and a handheld option over the bath.
A couple of small points:
Towels are on the smaller side and could be bigger
No bin in the main bedroom (only a small one in the bathroom)
Food & breakfast
Breakfast was good, with a decent selection. The sausages were particularly good quality.
One thing to note: breakfast finishes promptly at 10:30, and they begin turning off lights and setting up for dinner immediately. It didn’t bother us, but may not suit everyone.
Entertainment & atmosphere
Evening entertainment downstairs had a relaxed, enjoyable vibe with good, chilled music.
Miguel – a standout part of the stay
Miguel truly made our holiday. All three of us (in our early 40s) agreed he brought so much energy and fun to the hotel.
We loved the daily complimentary aqua aerobics (aqua gym)—his enthusiasm, encouragement, and positivity were infectious. He made everyone feel included, regardless of age or ability.
He also hosted a quiz, which was brilliant—we had so much fun taking part. It really brought guests together and added an extra layer of enjoyment to the holiday.
What stood out most was his dedication—he seemed to be running activities constantly throughout the day for all age groups. He is an excellent motivator and clearly cares about guests having a great time.
He is a real asset to the hotel.
Rooftop bar
The rooftop bar was a highlight, especially in the late afternoon. It’s bathed in sunshine and offers incredible views of the beach, marina, sea, and mountains, including beautiful sunsets.
The outdoor furniture is बेहद comfortable, and the drinks were great—especially the non-alcoholic cocktail, which I really enjoyed.
Staff & overall experience
Staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.
A few minor downsides
WiFi doesn’t extend to the pool area
No shower facilities if you can’t secure a late checkout (and the hotel was full, so we couldn’t)
Final thoughts
I have quite high standards when it comes to hotels, and this was originally a compromise to suit our group’s budget, so I was a little anxious beforehand.
But I can honestly say it was a great stay. The location is unbeatable, the hotel is well run, and the atmosphere is fun and relaxed.
Most importantly—we had the best time.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to return.
1st time in this hotel.we had a room overlooking sea and pool.lovely clean room but would of liked a kettle in the room.
Hotel very clean, staff are very friendly and work hard.
Hotel entertainment in evening starts at 9.30pm and finishes at 11pm.would be nice to see it start earlier .
We only had bed and breakfast but their is a great variety of breakfast items from cereals, fruit, continental breakfast, fresh bread, pastries and a cooked breakfast section.
Sunbeds around pool area are great and views towards sea are relaxing.
Roof top bar great just a bit chilly when the sun goes down.but great views.
Great location, fabulous views from roof top bar, rooms clean and have plenty of room, here come the bad points, this was our 2nd time staying here as we enjoyed our 1st stay, however 2nd time around we found the breakfast have gone down hill, bacon was so hard you could not chew it, sausage were frankfurters that I hate, and we found breakfast was very cold to eat, very dissapointed in the breakfast. Would we return? 🤔 maybe but definitely would not book the breakfast again as we ended up going out and paying again for breakfast so that was a big disappointment.
Just returned from first ever visit to Torremolinos and the La Barracuda. (Both in our early 70's) but think we are 45! What a great Hotel and location. Stayed B & B. Doesn't matter to me what star rating it says, I'll say it as I see it. There was plenty of Choice at breakfast, you couldn't wish for better staff, from reception to Housekeeping and Bar and Restaurants, all cheerful and helpful. Very clean hotel. We asked for a room with a walk in shower, I know some are baths and some walk-in. I emailed them a few week before arrival and they accommodated us. One day after Breakfast they completely refitted the whole of the servery unit with a large island servery, which was ready for the evening meal sitting, very impressive. With little disruption to guests. All in all a Highly recommended Hotel. Will stay again.
We loved the place ,only downside was shower in the bath ,as we are both in our sixties and my partner has hip problems it was unusable by us. We loved the roof bar but it was exspensive ,the rooms were clean ,bed was very compfortable, and local taxis were really cheap. Local bars are plentiful, and enough supermarkets in area ,to have 1 each lol. Will be back deffo ,oh and all staff were ace, partically in restaurant
Still an hour before check-out but writing this review to ensure the great experience is recorded.
Location: close to the e beach. One can see the sea from the poolside. There’s adequate beds for all, but was here when it was still slightly on the cool side. If you like sunrise, the poolside gate that leads on to the beach promenade make it easy to catch it everyday. Four out of five, I watched the sunrise. One day it rained (only in the morning).
Make sure you pay for the balcony facing the poolside/sea. It is worth it if you like a relaxing holiday with nice views. It’s a small extra to pay for great value!
Breakfast: great selection. Cooked English breakfast, bread, cheese, veg, fruits, cereals, etc. Unlimited. Get your own cutlery but this is fine with us! Spacious restaurant.
Service: Everyone was very friendly and accommodating.
Room: very clean, daily clean (or miss it if you wish), power shower, balcony is good size, crisp clean linen, table, chairs. No kettle in room but can be rented. We didn’t!
Entertainment: evening musicians, some dancing too! Bar open til late.
Activities: so much to do from here. Great base. Taxi (€5-6) or bus (€1.20) to Torrelimos station. Taxi station a minute walk. Bike rental just outside the hotel.
Lots of restaurants and shops
nearby.
Customer profile: all ages, many are older adults and couples; yuppie couples and couples with children. It’s a great mix and I love this as it makes it normal.
Will recommend to friends who see value!
Four stars because the place was still in the process of waking up from winter. I think spring/summer, it can be a five!
Thanks to all staff of La Barracuda.
The location of this hotel is superb. You get the best of both worlds staying here. Benalmadena to the right and torremolinos to the left. Not far to walk and it is all flat.
Hitel itself is great. The food is probably one of the best I've had in a long time, they actually season the food. I'm on floor 8 with a side sea view and it's worth every extra penny I paid. The weather for March is exceptional. I dreaded coming thinking it would be cold but it's hitting the 20s during the day. It is a bit chilly of a night time but nothing major. Would I stay again? Absolutely. Disregard bad reviews, come see it for yourself. I think some people expect 5 star when it clearly isn't 5 star.
An Amazing hotel, with very friendly staff, the Rooms are bright airy, and roomy..the food was 1st class,.We had the best break, and was all down to the Staff, .From the 1st point of contact,in reception..the Restaurant staff the Cleaners, all very Helpful, and always ready to help..We stayed in an Ocean View Apt, and was well worth the extra Money, we pad…the Location is perfect, only minutes from Marina, lots Bars,Shops, Restaurants, on your doorstep, if I was to make some suggestions, to Improve, it would be to have safes in the Rooms, rather than having to use the special room, near reception
I had never stayed in Torremolinos before however other parts of the Cost del Sol. I liked the look of this hotel when doing some research so decided to book up for my 11 night break in February 2026.
The hotel is just down a slight hill (roadway) from where you get dropped off with the Coach from the airport. I received a warm welcome on arrival and I said to the very pleasant young lady I was dealing with that I had paid extra for a side SEA VIEW so I hope that is what I had been allocated. She told me I had been allocated what I had paid for.
I was on the 9th floor, I was very delighted with my big room which was very comfortable and a nice balcony which got the sun the entire day so that was even more of a bonus !!! The bathroom was not huge but most certainly adequate and it had a GOOD shower over the bath which was great.
They provide a fridge which is great, you can hire a kettle if need be for your early morning cuppa before going down for breakfast. I had a little Travel Kettle which I took with me and that was just wonderful.
I was VERY SURPRISED AND DELIGHTED WHEN I checked in the fridge to see that I had been left a lovely bottle of Fizz and a litre bottle of water plus some nice tasty cakes!! What a lovely welcome and it was VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. Thank you !
All the staff that I had contact with including the lovely housekeeping staff who did a wonderful job were very friendly. I therefore was so, so surprised to find that the staff working in the restaurant area were ANYTHING BUT FRIENDLY unless they KNEW YOU it seemed !!! I was on my own and only one young lady spoke to me on no more that 2 occasion over my 11 night stay !!
I was B&B and although there was quite a verity of food for breakfast both cold and hot it was NOT OVERLY SPECIAL I thought !! As far as the hot food was concerned it was ANYTHING BUT HOT but that is how it was end of story.
Lots of lovely restaurants close by to go to for an evening meal which was good.
Would I return to this Hotel again in the future I may well certainly do that if the price is right. Would I recommend it well you know we all have different tastes so I would say if you fancy the area and it is right on the beach give it a try. Pay extra for a side sea facing room it is wonderful.
The location is convenient, close to the plaza, but the surrounding area felt quite poor and underdeveloped. The hotel is more of a 2–3 star property; although the cleanliness is very good, the old utilities and outdated furniture unfortunately lower the overall standard.
We were accommodated near the elevators, and one of them made a constant rubbing noise that made it very hard to sleep. The breakfast lacked quality overall. The coffee was good, but the cold cuts and cheeses were of very low quality. On the other hand, dinner was fairly good — varied and tasty — although sometimes the food was not served hot enough.
The staff was quite friendly. The room was clean, but again, the sanitary facilities were old and worn out, with peeling surfaces, and the bathroom door was visibly swollen from age
Stayed at this wonderful hotel Jan 23rd to 2nd Feb. Room was very comfortable and very clean. Restaurant was lovely and food very good, something to eat and good choices for all nationalities . All staff were very helpful and very friendly throughout the hotel.
Only disappointment was the weather which we had four good days out of ten.
We booked the La Barracuda following our original our original 4* hotel was having major renovations. Initially we were somewhat dubious having read some reviews but actually had such a positive shock to how great it was.
LOCATION IS SUPERB!! Lovely walk to Benalmadena Marina (5 minutes), 45 minutes to Arroya, 45 minutes along the promenade to Torremelinos. A lot was closed locally due to January being local holidays, but some nice restaurants and shops still open. Well paced supermarkets such as Lidl and all within 10-15 minutes along walks
La barracuda is a lovely hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful, we were on the 8th floor (815) and had an amazing view from our balcony and we weren’t even pool side. Our son had room 819 his view was even nicer!!
The rooms were super spacious and beds comfy. Rooms were warm and the air con can be used to heat the room too if needed. Plenty of plug points and the fridge was a bonus! We took our own travel kettle as knew they were not provided; but that was made up for by the additional equipment such as hairdryer, plenty of coat hangers and lovely balcony with furniture.
While we were there the weather was a little temperamental, the hotel bars were lovely. The roof top bar is absolutely stunning, the views are simply gorgeous….one way looks to Benalmadena Marina and the other way to Torremelinous which is amazingly for plane watching. All side have a view over the ocean.
We were half board, the food was lovely and fresh. Mainly varied and lots of local as well as European cuisine. Lots of seasonal fresh fruit & hots drinks.
Drinks at the bar are lovely, cocktails and mocktails are not cheap, but delicious!! My son said the coffee is amazing!!
Pool - we didn’t use it due to the weather being so cold, but it was clean and lots of subbed available.
Staff at the hotel are very polite, helpful and smiley! The housekeepers and dining staff are ALWAYS friendly and personable!
Very much recommend this hotel for couples, singles, older families and people with disabilities!
We will be back!!
At first was slightly disappointed, but it was because I was so tired from early flight & had to wait for room etc. But got to room, fridge not plugged in & hardly any hangers, requested fridge be plugged in and it soon was, we could not see the socket under the table (oops!) & loads of extra hangers bought up. Next day requested slip mat for bath & extra pillows & no problems we went out & when we got back they were there.
Breakfast was really good, like someone else could not understand why no fried eggs every day, but think my waist line will thank me later! Thought the selection of pastries was great, quite a few different cereals. Hubby said the coffee was really nice , I stick with water or hot chocolate ( I do not drink tea abroad as I am really weird like that ).
Dinner was hit & miss but generally something for everyone, loved that EVERY item was labelled & also had pictures of what was on offer, just in case the 5 languages they used was not yours! Just be prepared to get your own cutlery & serviettes as they clean tables but do not lay them, not an issue for us we only got the cutlery we were going to use.
The Hotel is sited in a great position, loads of Chiringito's to choose from, along the front, also if you go out the main entrance & turn left there are supermarkets, bars & restaurants. Some are not open until 1st Feb & we came home on 31st January.
Staff that we met, in the Hotel, were nice & friendly.
Downside, due to the weather the pool bar was shut on a couple of days but the evening bar was open, would help if they had put a notice so we did not go to walk round to the pool bar. Also main bar was down quite a few steps (21) & I found it quite difficult, it looks like they have a service lift for those with mobility issues but not bought to anyone's attention, but I did manage the stairs.
All in all had a really good holiday & am glad that a work colleague recommended this Hotel to me. Also if you fancy a night in loads of UK TV channels. In fact we are staying again at end of March, part of a package holiday, am counting down the days.
Great hotel near to beach breakfast only which was ok always something to eat although I prefer a fried egg some mornings not available for some reason plenty pastry and bread selection nice coffee machine and pleasant staff room ok and clean so no complaints just some noise in afternoon hotel work being done but I was out most of time would book again yes
Currently staying here, from the moment I arrived i sensed I would enjoy my stay, half way through i most certainly am doing so.
Direct access through the garden to the promenade, La Barracuda is within 10 mins walk of the Puerto Marina, a mecca for all ages. 10 mins walk in the other direction La Carihuela with an authentic feel of the old fishing village. Lots of cafés, restaurants in the area.
La Barracuda offers pool and sea view rooms to one side and street views to the other. In my opinion its more than worth paying the supplement for the former. If you love vistas , if you love the sound of the sea you'll not be disappointed.
The bedrooms are spacious, clean and welcoming, the fresh fragrance on entering the room was refreshing, housekeeping brought a bottle of cava, water and bakery box which were placed in the fridge (very handy). The rooms are air conditioned and heated. Balconies are spacious with clear glass panels which allow to see the wonderful views. Yes, mattresses are firm for me but this can be overcome by placing a blanket or 2 under the sheet.
Food is plentiful and with variety, fresh fish cooked and meat for dinner on the grill in front of you, Great sausages for breakfast!😋, love the fresh baguette for breakfast. Always look forward to my meals and I'm fussy.
Staff are attentive and always with a smile. Smile back ! I say this because many don't, say Gracias 😃
I'm still enjoying my time hear, most definitely would return. Oh Almost forgot the 10th floor roof top bar, tremendous views inland, sea and Marina, must be the best views anywhere along this coast.
Was a very good stay, staff at hotel all fantastic, especially on reception, at the bars and in the buffet, with staff going above and beyond.
Hotel has improved tenfold since I last visited in 2018, with the rooftop bar being a stunning addition, and reasonably priced.
Rooms were modern and sufficiently cleaned (they could improve the cleaning between guests further, only in the bathrooms, with some limescale on taps, but that is my only gripe, as well as A/C unit needing a clean) and everything worked as it should, and ample storage in rooms. I had a lovely room with a view of the sea on the 8th floor and the location is a prime beachfront location so is very convenient for going to the beach or watching the sea, as well as walking into Benalmadena Marina or Torremolinos town centre, with amenities such as local shops and supermarkets (Aldi and Lidl) a short stretch away.
The atmosphere of the hotel and the rooms were relaxing, with chilled friendly staff, and while we could hear a little noise, this was not loud enough to put us off our sleep.
The food at the buffet was well worth going half board, as there was variety, catering for many nationalities, with people from all over Europe finding something that they liked at the buffet.
I would happily stay again at this hotel.
Nice Hotel but building work going on which I wasn't made aware of.Also lots of football squads from Netherlands swamp the Hotel during January and they are very loud and it's hard to relax.
