Accommodating and helpful after I booked the wrong day! Lovely bed. Good for a stopover
Hotel was excellent the service was second to none. Lin and the housekeeping team were ever so helpful during my 3 night stay.
The Alexander is really well placed just 12 mins from the beach and it’s got good security and I was upgraded to a double room from a single which was a wonderful surprise. My room was spotlessly clean with a comfy bed with nice white linen and a spotless bathroom with bath and shower and fluffy white towels. There was a big flat screen tv (I didn’t use it) and a view over the rooftops down to the sea. I slept very well. Just be aware as it is an old Victorian house that the sound proofing isn’t brilliant. I could hear a child running around and crying in the room above me early evening but I slept undisturbed. Very good stay for one night in Swansea as I was passing through. And Lynn the owner was very helpful and charming when we spoke on the phone (I booked last minute so she gave me the instructions to self check in - all v easy). Thanks.
Lovely, spacious room. Clean and tidy and well decorated.
Needed a mat in the bathroom as you get out of the shower. Very slippery floor when wet.
Visible damp problem. No check in staff - just a key safe. Noisy.
Self check in, no staff, lot of independence, doesn't feel like a hotel, I like that
We waited on the street in the rain trying to contact the manager to get the code to the front door & our room. The bed was crippling. A woman attempted to break into our room while we were dressing the next morning. We checked out two nights early because of the discomfort & safety issue.
I appreciate first of all that this was a cheap room, but only because advertised at 50% discount so should have been £52 per night. The room was like an icebox and the radiator had been jammed to off position. I therefore had to layer up in clothing and even put my outer jacket on when going to sleep. As the premises are unmanned, there is a telephone number for guests to call - this number did not connect to a person. Therefore I was not able to get any help with this. It was the most uncomfortable situation to be in. Definitely not recommended during cold spells
We stayed in room 2, a family room of 1 x double and 2 x single beds. Beds comfortable enough, although the sheets etc were clean, they did smell strongly of washing powder? An issue with the main curtain is that it did not close in the middle and the resulting 6" gap provided enough light to almost illuminate the room via the streetlamp directly outside. The bathroom although clean did not have a plug for the hand basin which meant running water whilst having a shave and one of the handles to the shower has the appearance and feel of being badly corroded so suggest this needs to be replaced. So why not complain well - my biggest issue is with the parking so the required number to discuss was called (and message left with name and phone number) and here 2 days later, still no response. My belief from the description given re parking was there would be parking close to the hotel which is on a main road. Whilst I missed the online text indicating parking was based on fitting in with local residents, I did not expect either to have to park so far away or to have to move my car before 09.00. (can park between 18.00 and 08.00 then for 1 hour no return for 2 hours meaning leave by 09.00). There seems to be no provision at all to park on site. Altogether a disappointing stay although with some tweaks many issues could be corrected.
Awful smell of damp Throughout, bed was obviously old worn out mattress.
Check in was not good had to walk down a lane to get to our room which was very small the cleanliness of the room was to a high standard
Just right for a short stay, quirky decor, clean ,comfy, great staff particularly Pat who sorted out queries
When the room door was opened, what a terrible picture! There was a rubbish bin right in the middle of the room, the naked mattress has neither quilt and nor sheet or bed cover. The cup was placed by the sink, the kettle was up next to the window with its leads dropping to the floor, a broken part was on the floor as well. Dirty with bad smell! When contacted the telephone number several times, a replacement was given in a basement room without window, which is hard to breath during the hot summer night. Later, about 21:30, a room in another location was given, and a taxi has to be used to go there. That is the experience of the Alexander!
Great location, room was clean and linen was immaculate! The room was a bit tired and only about a tenth of toilet paper on the roll... If i had paid £75 per night i wouldn't have been disappointed, however, we paid £193 for one night and expected a little more at that price...
Was given several codes to enter the propert and retrieve room key from a key box.
A 4 figure code was required-but a 3 figure code was supplied.
I called the number supplied several times but it was engaged. A zero was missing from the code but I only worked that out by luck.
On opening the box there was no key inside.
It took several more calls to get an answer by which time I had already overrun in the time taken off work to check in.
There was little sense of urgency considering I was standing in a self check in property unable to check in.
Itvteamspored the key had been kept by the previous occupant and there was no duplicate. The Alexander was full that day so I was booked into a guest house across the road. That guest house was a typically dated cramped (but thankfully clean) seaside b & b.
If this was an upgrade I’m glad I couldn’t get into the original place.
I wasn’t offered any compensation so I had paid for a room I didn’t stay in and had to stay in an alternative I would never have chosen myself.
Basement room, shared smelly bathroom, was expecting an ensuite bathroom. Extremely noisy room, the room above banged on the floor everytime my friend orgasmed, sound proofing needs to be improved.
I was paid extra for parking, when I arrived here couldn’t find parking spaces, email text and call them million times no one answered, after 5 and half hours they answer me, bathroom didn’t w shower gel .only have a hand wash . The mattress is horrible really uncomfortable, disappointed for this hotel
Unfortunately, I discovered a bit of a mishap, upon arrival at the Alexander, where I had rebooked a comfortable single room that I had stayed in two years ago.
There was water pouring through my bathroom ceiling, due to a sudden problem with the shower floor's plumbing in the room above. One of "those things" that can happen in older properties,!
Both of the affected rooms in the Alexander were immediately closed for repairs, so my review now applites to the White House.
The hotel's owners could not have been kinder and displayed exceptional customer service, promptly upgrading me to a lovely double room in another hotel of theirs, just up the road.
I was very comfortable and contented in the White House for the rest of my stay.
Parking is the only problem we had but it is located close to restaurants, shops and bars
The stay was very good, apart from a condom that was found by the bed but the manger and owner sorted out quickly so not bad stay for the first time.
