Hotel is like Beirut itself: built to be great, but degrading slowly
Pros:

I like the location, sea view and most of the staff were friendly. Beds are nice. I was allowed to check out a bit later, but it's expected as hotel has mostly empty. A la carte breakfast was good though the same every day.

Cons:

Gym was not available as it's under renovation, but I was not warned about it on Booking page of the property. Laundry of 6 t-shirts and underpants was $73 and was delayed without warning for this price. Shower tap was not very reliable.

If the hotel gets a renovated gym and cuts the laundry prices in half, I'd love to recommend it.

Great hotel staff and responsible management

Cons:

Previously I made a review that I rated the hotel the lowest (1) due to an incident with one specific employee. Aside from that I made it clear that the hotel and all its staff are wonderful. The reason I’m doing another review is because the management took the effort and time to call me and to apologize about the isolated incident which I very much appreciated, specifically the new manager Jad Baaklini. That showed that this hotel and his staff hold up the long standing high reputation of this great hotel. As far as I’m concerned, the situation is in the past, and I will most certainly continue to be a long term user of this very special place in Beirut that we’ve called home for over two decades.

Great hotel, great staff, one bad apple.
Pros:

Great hotel , location and staff. One terribly rude receptionist that managed to destroy our week stay in a few minutes .

Cons:

The receptionist, a rude and untrained personnel (unlike any we have ever seen in Warrick Palm Beach and we’ve been going there for over two decades), had no idea how to speak to the hotel guests. There was an over charge of $99 or $100 for the extra bed. We were in a hurry to go to the airport. We said we’ll pay the full bill less this charge, and let the confirm the mistake internally or communicate to us by email. If the communication proved to be correct , we’ll pay the extra 100$ (half the staff has known us for years and we have never had an issue with this great hotel). He started to get agitated, and said if you don’t pay, he will call the police (our bill over over $2,500). This was shocking that he would actually revert to such language with any guests. Anyhow, we didn’t have time to waste, we paid it, and went on our way, and left a bad taste not bc this Thawfik guy over-charged at that point, but because of the threats he started making against a guest. Absolutely shocking, and we reported this back to management and waiting to hear back. Again, this is not against the hotel or their lovely staff, this incident is specific to one rude individual called Tawfik S (I will refrain from putting last name as there is no need to). I hope this gets picked up by the management and opens a proper investigation into his actions.
