Lacking.
Pros:

Lovely garden, very clean room, decent parking.

Cons:

No fan in 30+ degree heat on the top floor of the hotel. Resulted in us having to have the windows wide open. No TV remote in our room.

Through the windows, music played until early hours which disturbed our sleep for 2 nights Following the music, staff and other guests chatted loudly directly under the window. My partner had to go downstairs, to an empty reception desk, call the night porter to quieten the noise. Shouldn’t guests not attending weddings be in a different area of the hotel, as opposed to directly above the function room? On our 2nd morning we were awoken by a strimmer directly below our window.

We had no water on the first morning, due to a burst water main, which the hotel dealt with swiftly, leaving water bottles out on the bar free to take until the water was back on.

My boyfriend is vegetarian and has a lactose intolerance and the hotel was out of oat milk by the afternoon of the first day. This was not replenished for the remainder of our stay (3 nights). When we asked for a coffee from the large barista machine pride of place in the restaurant, the waitress shrugged and said she couldn’t use the machine, so instead we had filter coffee served from teapots every breakfast. They’d run out of vegetarian sausages for breakfast on the final day, so for breakfast usually charged at £14 for non-guests, the meal was no where near the price point. We did have a nice dinner one night at the hotel, however the kitchen and bar were completely shut over the bank holiday Monday. The hotel was locked when we returned after our meal out, and we had to be let in by a lone staff member.

The staff were all seemingly incredibly young, and they were very pleasant but there was a glaring lack of management. There was clearly a lack of training, as mentioned with regards to the coffee.

At the price we paid to stay for 3 nights, it’s astounding so many standards for a hotel were simply not met.
