I had my wedding here and it was the most amazing experience ever.
All the staff were so friendly and catering to everyone needs and our wedding coordinator was absolutely amazing going above and beyond to make everything amazing we literally could not have done this without him. The food was amazing and buffet for night and the DJ was brilliant aswell. Would recommend anyone to book a wedding here
Welcomed, seated and offered a jug of water straight away whilst me and mum surveyed the menu. I had the boeuf bourguignon with mashed potato and root vegetables, it was absolutely amazing, so delicious with the madeira sauce. Mum loved the fish pie, the prawns and chunks of salmon were huge.
Also treated ourselves to desserts, mum had the sherry trifle which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the warm chocolate brownie which was really gooey inside and finished the whole meal off to perfection.
The service was great and the cat robot cute, especially when it came over singing happy birthday to me with a lovely surprise from the chef !
Couldn’t fault anything today, the meal was perfection!
We will be back to try the afternoon tea next time, thank you
Location was perfect for appointment at Barlborough Hospital. The reception staff were excellent. Very Friendly and efficient and explained things well in a polite manner. Excellent evening meal in the restaurant and good staff.
We booked an accessible room which was a very long walk from the lift (room 116) . The heating controls were very difficult to use if you are not young and up to date with technology. Used the stand alone heater but it had a foot missing. No bar of soap in bathroom. Limited hot water if one of us had a shower. No iron or ironing board and I am sure one was advertised. Breakfast seemed a little limited and I got a full pot of tea but my husband only got one cup of luke wark coffee. When we asked for a second coffee it never arrived. The waitresses were more intrigued with the computer.
Met with a friendly smile and warm welcome. Ordered the Lamb Kofta which was absolutely delicious and my friend had the chicken and chilli penne pasta which was equally delicious. Service was excellent from Max and Sofia, nothing was too much trouble. Will be back.
The hotel was easy to navigate, kept very clean and tidy. Easy to get to and a great venue for weddings.
Make sure you don’t book the older part of the hotel!!
After looking at many many reviews before booking, the hotel looked modern safe and as a 4* hotel for weddings I expected great things . I booked through a corporate site .
I was told that I was in the old building when checking in and that I was ‘the only one in there’ . Also followed that people aren’t normally happy being in there to which both comments left me on edge as a solo female .
The old building is in a quiet area off the main road not connected to reception with the access door left open at all times so anyone could have come off the main road . Big security concern especially as I was told no one was in there with me . The downstairs was the wedding bar area but had a strange smell and looked desolate.
Checking into the room I had to go up a flight of stairs with all my bags . I was not told about this or helped at all even though I had a lot of luggage . For a 4* this was very very below standards.
The room was half modern and half old and very cold due to thin windows. The shower did not have anywhere to put your toiletries which was strange and the bathroom flooded with the shower on even at lower pressure.
I contacted reception that I didn’t feel safe in the building and wanted to either get a refund for the following 2-3 nights and check out ( happy to pay for the initial night ) but I was not helped at all . Management clearly know that that part of the building is not up to standards with the modern rooms and seem to be hiding behind it .people need to be made more aware as there is another recent review with similar complaints.
Tonight I checked into the Wildes Inns Limited just outside Chesterfield, I've stayed there once before. It was a lovely stay. A nice modern, clean hotel. Not this time!
I'm delivering training tomorrow and for anyone who visits companies across the country you will probably have your favourite hotels that you can rely on right?
Feeling safe is a big factor for me. I'm sure I'm not the only one whose room has managed to be accessed in the middle of the night by a random stranger and it's a bit disconcerting to say the least. If you're in a hotel where there are people on site, at least you know you can shout for help.
This time the room that I'd booked, didn't give it much attention, as I'd stayed there before, was not in the main hotel but the mansion house next door. I managed to find the entrance (it looks like they use this for wedding parties) but no security, doors were open to the mansion house and not a soul around. I had to remake my way back to the hotel reception because there were no signs for rooms anywhere.
Finally I get to my room, it was up the stairs, which had no signs and I didn't feel safe to stay there at all. There was no one that I could see or hear within the mansion house, despite me trying to listen out.
I tried to get a refund for the room because I didn't feel safe, but Mark, the person who was not handling my request well, said that I couldn't have one. As far as he was concerned I'd booked the room and that was that. It didn't matter to him whether I felt safe or not. His words were "the only reason why you're not happy is because I'm not giving you the answer you want", in a curt, unfriendly, sarcastic tone.
In my 20 years of doing various jobs that require me to travel, I have never asked for a refund before and hopefully this will be the last time. I'm now in another hotel, feeling safe.
I'm delivering a consultative sales training day tomorrow, which covers delivering excellent customer service Wildes Inns Limited. Think you might need my help!
the breakfast was very good and very enjoyable and the location was fine
the option of the breakfast available was really good. The food was hot and plentiful and the continental breakfast is available but not openly available on show but a second option from the waiting service
Breakfast was delicious the staff couldn’t do enough for you endless amounts of tea/coffee refulls
Nothing absolutely fabulous
Breakfast excellent plenty of choice .Staff very good in asking if I wanted my tea refreshing and extremely polite.
I stayed at Wildes to attend my grandson's wedding, which was very well organised and went well. The food was really first rate, and again the staff were again so polite and efficient.
The room I booked through booking.com didn't make it clear that the bed choice was either two singles or a double bed;
so when we checked in was not pleased to discover that my son and and I would have to share a double bed when we assumed we would have two single beds. However the reception staff pulled out all the stops and sorted out the problem with a compromise which we accepted. The reception staff deserve a gold star for their efforts !
The room was amazing. The bathroom was gorgeous. The staff were super friendly and the breakfast was fabulous.
Nothing.
