The lobby was uncomfortably hot in the evenings with no air conditioning in the lobby area. We were a little disappointed with our room as we paid for priority location with sea view and our room was on the first floor which does not give a clear view of beech but I suppose it done what it said on the tin.

We booked this on the strength of its rating and its billing as a high-end property. Having stayed, I don't think either is deserved. It's a solid three star experience wearing five star packaging.

Honeymoon: nothing at check-in. Over the following days things did appear in the room — a bottle of sparkling wine one day, a plate of chocolates the next — but with no note, no card and no explanation. The plate wasn't even covered. The intention was there; the execution wasn't.

Service is where it falls down hardest. We were on half board, which includes no drinks at dinner. Fine in itself, but the way it was communicated to us by one waiter was borderline rude, and his offer of "a free water" was delivered as if he were doing us a favour. On other nights we did order drinks: the cocktails are poorly mixed and the house wine tasted vinegary. Elsewhere, English is limited and basic courtesy is inconsistent — asking for a shaded table one morning got us a curt response rather than any help.

Reception and concierge have no flexibility at all. We couldn't get our nights registered on the IHG loyalty programme, there was no late checkout offered, and the concierge team had no useful recommendations for the area.

Cleanliness was the biggest disappointment. There seemed to be one housekeeper covering our entire corridor, and more than once we found her hair on the floor beside the bed. Cups weren't changed. The room was never properly maintained. In the restaurant you have to hunt for a clean plate or a clean glass.

La mensonge de la présentation , pied de mer alors qu’il est loin de plus d’1 Km de la mer !!!
À la plage , une fois arrivée après une marche fatigante sous le soleil et la chaleur ; toute les places sont réservées d’avance !!! Et payantes .
L’établissement est situé dans un désert , loin de tout !!!!

Man kann in einem 5 Sterne Hotel in Portugal an der Bar keine Flasche Wein bestellen. Ich hatte die großartige Auswahl zwischen einem Glas Rot Weiß oder Rosé. Noch nie erlebt

The rooms were oddly setup. The bathtub was right beside the bed with no segregation. It was as if the bedroom and bathroom were one big room overall

The fact that the bathroom is open plan to the room, how expensive the buffet is if you’re not on an all-inclusive package (€47 each without alcohol!), the quality of the cocktails served (very little alcohol), the fact that the only area in the hotel that has air con are the rooms, the TVs were like something from the 80s (no WiFi, Netflix etc). No kettle in the room - you have to walk to the end of your corridor to use a water dispenser. The hotel in general is in desperate need of a facelift. It definitely cannot be categorised as a five star hotel (dated carpets, lobby cushions etc). I would say it is closer to a three-star. Apparently to get access to the spa area you have to pay €25/hour. This in normal 5 star hotels would be free. The quality of the food at the pool bar was shockingly bad and expensive. The waiters were not attentive. In the evenings, the lobby bar only had mixed nuts to offer along with the drinks. Finally, the staff uniforms looked cheap.

The bathroom could be better, I don’t understand why can’t we keep the doors in hotel bathrooms! the bath tube was in the middle of the room and the shower shared a door with the toilet (so only one can be closed at a time). For family trips, I would have preferred a proper bathroom with doors. There could be also more activities for children, there were few options at odd times.
