Amazing hotel
Pros:

This was our third stay at this hotel, and once again it exceeded all our expectations. We can’t speak highly enough of it. The staff are exceptional, the rooms are spotless and comfortable, and the entertainment is fantastic. Everything about our stay was perfect.

A special mention goes to Francesco, the AGM, who made our stay even more memorable with his professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail. He truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience.

We can’t recommend this hotel highly enough and are already looking forward to our next visit!

Pros:

Had an 11 night stay here.

It all looked nice and welcoming - reception area was light and airy with plenty of seating and open doors leaving to a large outdoor terrace and seating area.

At check in we were immediately offered a glass of sparkling wine - bottles on ice behind the reception desk - or water and asked to take a seat.

My husband and a concierge unloaded our suitcases who then brought in our luggage and drove our car to the underground garage.

Claudia, receptionist, came over to check us in. Diamond recognised and I chose points as we are on All Inclusive. We were given an upgrade to a pool view room and (because we were staying more than 7 nights) a voucher for a complimentary dinner at the à la carte restaurant- which is fully chargeable even on AI.

Once checked in we were shown to our room. It was clean and a good size with two armchairs and a coffee table plus an additional table and chairs on the balcony. There was a coffee maker but no kettle nor milk. The minibar had soft drinks, small jar of almonds, small jar of gummi bears 😊, 2 beers, 200ml bottle of port and 200ml bottle of Prosecco. These were replenished once daily. One day we asked to swap the beer or the port for a second bottle or Prosecco but no, it’s one per room per day.

The bathroom. Where to start? There is one door for the toilet (plus bidet) and shower. Think Holiday Inn Express, but this door is mirrored on both sides! The rest of the ‘bathroom’ is open plan. This is the same layout for ALL bathrooms, even in the family rooms. Some days you got flannels and some you didn’t. 2 bathrobes were provided but no slippers.

All mirrors are tinted brown - even the mirror wall that is inside the shower - as well as the door if you close it. Lighting is also very poor in the ‘bathroom’ with warm lights agsinst the tinted mirrors.

Shower was a good size but we did ask for a bath mat as the floor was quite slippery. There’s a rain shower plus a hand held shower head which could only be positioned at waist height. Water pressure wasn’t great.

The buffet restaurant was very good with a varied selection of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast chef cooked omelettes, fried and poached eggs to order. Cold meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit, pastries, bacon, sausages etc.

Lunch and dinner both had hot and cold self serve buffet items with a mix of meat and fish / seafood dishes and always 2 different fish and two meat options cooked to order. Different paellas at each meal with vegetables, rice, potatoes and a great salad selection. There was also a vegan section at each meal. Ice creams, fruit, cakes and pastries were always available. Big shout out to chef Shalini who was really friendly and helpful.

The à la carte restaurant, Medronho, doubles up as the snack bar during the day for lunch and snacks. On AI you can choose certain snack bar menu items, not all, but we felt the food was far better in the buffet so didn’t eat there.

In the evenings they showcase Portuguese food (menu looked good) so Reception booked us a table to use our voucher.

We arrived full of anticipation only to be presented with the ’voucher menu’ which comprised two starters, 3 mains and one dessert - not quite the à la carte menu we thought we were getting. We decided to head up to the buffet instead.

Mentioned to Reception that if they’re trying to encourage guests to use the à la carte restaurant- and subsequently spend money there - then they should let you try the actual menu for your ‘free meal’ but they weren’t really interested.

Evening entertainment was in the main lobby area and was mixed. A couple of nights there were groups of singers who were excellent as well as the magician. Portuguese folklore dancers were amazing. Karaoke wasn’t great and the rest of it was mediocre.

As the World Cup was on they had a big board in the lobby keeping track of the matches and scores. The conference room was set up with a big screen where they showed the matches and there was a ‘guess the score’ competition for each match.

There was an indoor pool, spa and gym none of which we used.

The Star Camp kids’ club is on the lower level by the children’s pool. There is also a dedicated children’s room in the lobby with a mini slide, games, cot and changing table.

The lifts were an experience. There were two lifts which took you to the bedroom floors, garage and reception (on the 4th floor but ground level at the entrance). To get to the restaurant you had to go from your room to floor 4 then walk 100yds to another lift which went down to the buffet restaurant on floor 3, snack bar on 2 (then up outside steps to the main pool) or kids pool on 1. Very confusing.

There were shiny white marble looking steps from reception to the buffet but having watched a gentleman have a nasty fall on our first day we used the lift instead.

All staff members that we met were friendly and helpful but a special mention to Jacqueline in the lobby bar, Francine in the buffet restaurant and chef Shalini.

We do like Iberostar for a lazy All Inclusive holiday and would definitely return if we came back to the Algarve.

Great hotel
Pros:

Spacious and nicely decorated rooms. The best rainfall shower I've had in a hotel. Fantastic staff. Good selection of high quality breakfast foods and good tapas at the snack bar. Entertainment team put on activities, like wine tasting, live music and traditional dancing which I'm not normally a fan of but did enjoy and were a nice surprise. Pool and sunbeds great. Location is good, quiet and out of the way, only a short stroll to a nice beach, and Uber into Lagos town was only 5 euros.

Great staff, location and beach. Staff great. Bed a downer.
Pros:

Staff and location amazing. Beach was great and close to town an uber worked great. Food was ok, lacked any local flavors. Bed was a firm as a rock. We asked for a top which helped but still overly firm. We had a room with a pool which was very nice, but for the cost the room was a extra large ordinary room, nothing fancy. I would say definitely overpriced and we don't mind spending the extra. Entertainment ok. Drinks were great and good selection.

Cons:

The bed was way too firm. Felt like laying on a piece of plywood. Food was ok.

Lovely stay. Couldn’t fault it.
Pros:

Had a lovely relaxed stay with a group of 6 adults.
We couldn’t fault the food, such great variety through 7 nights we stayed.
Staff were all really helpful friendly.
Lovely room. We had a standard garden view that had a view of the gardens on the side of the hotel and the sea. We were offered an upgrade deal, but turned it down and didn’t regret it.
We were informed by Jet2 regarding building works that were being carried out close to the hotel, late last year. We were obviously quite apprehensive with this but decided to stick with the booking. We don’t regret thisdecision what so ever.
There is a building site next door with tower cranes, but I can’t honestly say we did not hear any noise from it what so ever. Due to the design of the hotel you can only see the cranes if you are at the lower pool. Main pool area, you may see a glimpse of a crane over the top of the hotel occasionally.
(This is one of the reasons for my review, to reassure anyone who is concerned about the building works)
As other reviews have said, easy transport into Lagos or a 1/2 hour walk.
We really can’t fault this hotel.
I would stay here again at a drop of a hat.

Amazing experience
Pros:

Just stayed for 4 nights and could not recommend this hotel enough!
All staff were absolutely lovely from when we arrived to when we left
The entertainment in the evenings was great I would say it is the best entertainment we have ever had in an hotel , you had live singers to traditional Portuguese dancers.
Our rooms were cleaned daily and sometimes twice a day! With fresh bath and pool towels everyday, you even recieved a notification that your room has been cleaned if you download the app.
The rooms were also the perfect size and we were lucky enough to have a sea view too
The food was lovely, we enjoyed our meals every day and we definitely say this is the best food we have had in and inclusive along with a variety of all different foods that suit everyone , we did originally book half board but changed to all inclusive when we arrived which we 100% recommend as you have a wide choice in drinks and lunch throughout the day.
The hotel is in a great location , just on the beach with a lovely walk into Lagos , we did this one night along the beach front , there is also a lot on options of easy transport on the door step of the hotel
We honestly don’t have a bad thing to say about the hotel , the only thing we regret is not booking for longer !
I cannot thank the hotel enough and to all the staff who make the experience and all work so hard , we will definitely be planning a trip to come back !
Thankyou everyone at iberostar Lagos for making our holiday perfect

Amazing!!
Pros:

If I could do more than 5 I would 100% unfortunately with only 2 days left I can say this has been the best experience I’ve had. For starters the rooms are unbelievable can’t go wrong there at all. The staff are amazing from the barn staff to the reception we have been greeted everyday with happiness. Whenever there is help needed you get it no matter what. This is a hotel made for family, friends, couples and even alone I would recommend this to everyone. At first I thought this was very expensive for just a hotel but I came to realise that this is a hotel that gives you memories you will never forget and I will be back here next year 100% thank you to the staff for making our stay out of this world

Pros:

De quase tudo

Cons:
