Pros:

Absolutely nothing
The place was located in the middle of a CBD town with Vomit on the road .
The rooms were terrible and the elevators did not work - I had to walk down 12 flights of stairs.

Cons:

Everything about this place is different to what is put on Booking.com
DO NOT GO HERE IT IS A SCAM
VOMIT ON THE ROAD

An Outstanding Stay at Reef Hotel Johannesburg

I had the pleasure of staying at the Reef Hotel in Johannesburg, and I would like to share my excellent experience. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by friendly, professional staff who were always available and willing to assist. Their outstanding service truly made my stay enjoyable.

The overall environment is remarkable: the hotel is clean, well-maintained, and offers a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are spacious, well-equipped, and provide everything needed to feel at home.

As for the dining experience, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the food. The meals were delicious, well-presented, and catered to a wide range of tastes, which added real value to the overall experience.

I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking to stay in Johannesburg in a welcoming and high-quality setting. It is definitely a place I would gladly return to on my next visit.

Stressful, although there staff member who tried their best to ensure that we were comfortable but the hotel is not well

Cons:

They were still busy cleaning the room when I opened the door after checking in, there was an odour in the carpet and bathroom area to a point where we asked to change rooms. When we got to the new room the aircon was not working and the next day we had no hot water. The breakfast was less than impressive. I definitely will not be going back

Rooms small, decor and interior dark and need maintenance, floors dirty, breakfast poor, location schetchy and clubs all around, very noisy right through night. Horrible experience. They did put us in better room. Still not great. Did not help. Couldn't sleep people partied all night. They claimed to be 4 stars. Will not even give it one. Bo warm water in bathroom. Not enough towls. Only 1. Manager not willing to assist even though booking.com told him to refund us. Did not feel safe with my children

Urgghhhh… it’s complicated!
Pros:

The location is really good in terms of proximity to different things in Johannesburg. The value for money is good. The staff are generally very welcoming.

Cons:

This hotel is right in the heart of downtown Johannesburg and whilst that makes it good by the standards of most places, Johannesburg is a really unique city. Downtown Johannesburg isn’t particularly safe for walking around. Although the Gandhi Square area is fine, anything much further north is definitely no-go walking wise. The area is generally under-invested in which in turn means the hotel is under-invested in. The elevators are unreliable, the room cleanliness is ok but not great and the food at the restaurant is overpriced for what it is. The staff make the most of the space but they are let down by a lack of proper maintenance and care given to the propert. It feels like a hotel with plenty of potential but this is NOT a 4-star hotel in the context of what most 4-star hotels would be. I would describe this place as being like a great 2-star or a mediocre 3-star which makes the value good but not great.
