During my business trip on March 2026, It was my first time stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund and experienced the top-notch service of a luxury hotel.
From the personal concierge's greeting before check-in to the swift and efficient check-in process, and the concierge's assistance with restaurant reservations and taxi bookings during my stay, I was truly impressed.
The room was meticulously cleaned, and the cleaning services and furnishings were tailored to my preferences, making me feel very comfortable.
I also enjoyed the Waldorf's signature Eggs Benedict, the Chinese restaurant's cuisine and exquisite ambiance, and I highly recommend the Long Bar. The staff and bartenders were incredibly professional, and their detailed explanations and interactive demonstrations transported me back to the glorious era of 1864, making for a very pleasant evening.
It's clear that the hotel management places great emphasis on details, anticipating the needs of their guests and providing exceptional thoughtfulness.
I highly recommend this hotel.
My last stay at an Astoria was in Rome and it was to extravagant for me, I realised I preferred a hotel that was relaxed and staff that were more friendly. I almost avoided booking the Shanghai Astoria for this reason but wanted the Bund location.
From the moment I arrived I was warmly welcomed by all of the staff, their personalities and attentiveness completely transformed the experience. Aaron, Kaya, and Daisy were exceptional, genuinely welcoming, thoughtful, and effortlessly professional. They struck that perfect balance of making me feel both looked after and completely at ease, turning what could have been an overwhelming environment into one that felt personal and inviting.
What I expected to be a short, contained stay became something much more. I found myself wanting to spend time in the hotel, to soak in the elegance and the calm. Waking up at 6am to explore the Bund was awesome. Shanghai at your doorstep.
In the end, it wasn’t just the luxury that stood out, but the way it was delivered—with genuine care and humanity. I arrived hesitant and left completely won over.
If I’m ever in Shanghai again, I would love to return.

The long bar is excellent with impeccable service.
The Breakfast buffet has a great variety from Asian to western food and a nice patio as well.
The majority of the stuff speak very good English and are eager to make the guest feel at home

The main Chinese restaurant was expensive and the menu wasn’t great. Not our best experience in Shanghai.

Superb hotel and excellent location. Efficient staff. But please remember to smile for foreign guests. It makes us feel welccomed and valued.
Location in part was very good. but city is so big traffic so heavy it takes a great time to get to meetings.Neeeds an underground. Hotel taxi service is poor and very costly Zero English.
WiFi was really poor so bad we needed to leave the building to other locations for Teams meetings. Staff did not get it. Lack of English communications was real problem. No local information around to read. Breakfast never got my drink correct. Black coffee with pot of boiling water. English failure.
