It was not so well maintained
Bed and bedding and overall room comfort was excellent.
16.5 % tax and service added to everything including expensive transfer.
Food was only ok and expensive compared to other restaurants.

На завтрак было слишком многолюдно, хотелось бы для номеров king отдельный лонж для завтраков, чтобы не искать свободное место и не сидеть рядом с одетыми людьми с улицы.
Очень неприятно было увидеть, что нам отдельно посчитали завтрак. В мою бронь был включён бесплатный завтрак, но мы попросили номер высокой категории heritage club river view suite и завтрак нам стали считать дополнительно. Об этом я узнала только из итогового счета после выезда из отеля, присланного мне на почту. Заранее никто не предупредил об этом. Вместо того, чтобы взять только разницу за повышение рейта номера, мне посчитали полностью новую бронь и анулировали прошлую, исключив бесплатный завтрак. Это было очень неприятно узнать только сегодня, после отъезда. Для такого отеля и такого уровня номера люкс это недопустимо, как обман.
В Waldorf Astoria NYC нам всегда сами предлагали номер более высокой категории. Даже давали сьют Элизабет Тейлор бонусом. В других отелях сети Waldorf astotia и Hilton не было проблем.
В Waldorf astoria Shanghai возвращаться не хочется.
Excellent property . Great service . Very central
I had a 3D2N stay in this hotel back in Dec 2025 during Christmas time. Amazing location with direct access to The Bund. Just need to walk across the street from the hotel back door/exit to The Bund. The staffs at lobby were friendly. Check-in was great but the staff attended to me was a little nervous (probably he was new), he did not greet me as a Diamond member, and not aware that I should be given complimentary breakfast for Diamond membership until I told him.
I was extremely delighted that I was upgraded to a room at 11th floor facing The Bund. The room was spotless clean, and I was really amazed by the elegant English classic decor in the room. I loved the Aesop toiletries provided. Nespresso coffee machine provided and toilet bowl comes with automatic bidet setting just like Japanese style toilet bowl. Breakfast was fantastic with a mix of buffet and ala carte menu. Sparkling wine and VOSS branded still water were available during breakfast. The cappuccino decorated with WA logo using the chocolate powder sprinkle was a must-ordered for me for great IG post.
The indoor swimming pool was also amazing though a little small (about 250–300 meter in length only). The pool water was a little cold for me given it is winter. The temperature was set at 28-29 deg C only. The ideal temperature for me should be around 32 deg C. There was a library lounge with a quiet and peaceful place for relaxation and chill out if you need a quiet space for reading or small talk with family and friends while enjoying some snacks and great wine served in the lounge.
One area that needs to be improved is the power point sockets in the room are not universal type, a little outdated. It is still a local power socket design. I needed to use travel adapter for every power point I used.
Overall, I would still love to return to this hotel for my next stay when I visit Shanghai.
One of the best hotels in China for me. Of course, the Waldof branding is there and sets certain expectations. I enjoyed myself at this Hilton brand after taking a break and ventured into another chain. The room is well appointed and classy. The building doesn’t look much from the outside at the main drop off area. But it has a historical building at the other end. I enjoyed a few drinks at the Long Bar and would highly recommend that for evening cocktails before dinner. Small sauna and steam room with no jacuzzi in the changing room. Overall, a great stay. I will be back!
Замечательный отель, все чисто , красиво. Хорошие завтраки вполне, единственное обслуживание на завтраках не очень. Кофе ждать долго, заказанные блюда тоже, приходится по 2-3 раза напоминать.

1. We arrived at 7pm, were accommodated in room 815 and got to bed at 11pm. Immediately after midnight we woke up because of a very loud noise similar to the one made by a big electrical/ventilating equipment which was just behind one of the walls. We called the reception, they sent a guy from the technical department who didn’t seem to be surprised. After another 20 minutes and several phone calls, another guy came with the keys of another room and proposed us to move there. We had to re-pack everything, move to the room 2001 and unpack our luggage again. We went back to bed at 1:20am, but our sleep was gone, we slept less than three hours that night as we had a full day tour starting in the morning. The room 2001 had a smaller bathroom, a smaller dressing room, no fruit platter (which remained in the previous room 815), the switch of the lamp next to our bed didn’t function, the shower drain was not working properly and the shower floor was flooding so that dirty water was pouring over our feet and the tap that adjusted the water temperature was almost blocked, my wife couldn't move it. I tried to talk with one of the managers in the morning, the receptionist told us that the manager was not available, but he would call me back. Nobody called me back and they fixed only the switch of the lamp. When I complained again about the shower they recommended to me to use the bathtub!!
2. For a 2 night stay deposit of 3087.8 CNY (445 USD) was unexpected as it was not mentioned on booking.com website. It was sent back when I left but got to my account only 3 days later. The additional cost related to this amount was 6% Alipay tax (3% when I payed and 3% when I got the money back), 2% the commission related to the exchange (1% each way) and 2.2% the difference between the exchange rates when buying CNY and selling CNY when I got the money back), so an additional 10.2% x 3087.8 = 315CNY, so about 45$ just because their system is not to block the amount on my card (pre-authorization), but to get the payment in full and send it back after leaving the hotel.
