Lovely place but one woman Catrina was amazing as she was left to do everything, check us in , run the pub and restaurant. The room was not very clean. I am handicap and it was hard to get around.
The Lake District
We wre disappointed that our room was never serviced in any way.
The hotel was pleasant , breakfasts were great, but beds should be made every morning, we would not stay again.
Lovely hotel, staff very polite and dog friendly
Perfect location. Rooms comfortable and staff attentive.
The Wordsworth used to be a very distinctive hotel with a pool/ Spa . Had we known it now belonged to the Inn Collection we certainly wouldn’t have stayed . Although our bedroom was clean and the bathroom modern , that can’t be said about the rest of the hotel. The carpets in the hotel are old and stained and everything in need of a refurbishment . Definitely wouldn’t stay again
There were some contact lenses stuck on the bathroom floor so it clearly hadn't been properly cleaned. Breakfast was ok. Had to wait about 10 minutes before someone arrived at reception. Wouldn’t class it as a 4 star experience
We were given a very friendly welcome to this lovely hotel situated in Grassmere Village, the hotel is set in beautifully tended gardens, which unfortunately we did not get the opportunity to use because of the weather. As we were visiting with our friends from New Zealand, we had booked two rooms, both of which were beautifully decorated, clean and spacious, with very comfortable bed. We had a supply of tea coffee and biscuits which were very much appreciated. The staff were friendly and helpful and we would like to say thank you for the upgrade we received. We would definitely recommend this hotel. The village of Grassmere is lovely with a variety of places to eat and quaint little shops, also it is a good point for visiting other areas in the Lake District.
Beautiful outlook, gorgeous room, helpful staff. Best place to stay in The Lakes. Bus goes right past if you want to visit other towns. Great walk around Lake Grasmere and Rydal at your doorstep. Loved it.
Me and the wife had a really nice stay. Everything we needed was available to us. The room was nice. We really liked the garden seating area, very peaceful. We only had 1 issue during our stay, the breakfast service was unfortunately quite poor, we waited nearly 1 hour for breakfast, I asked the waitress after 45 mins and her response was we are really busy, yet we counted 4 people who came in after us who got there food before us, shame because everything else was great.
In town centre convenient
It was trying to be more up market than it was. Particularly the kitchen. If you want to serve small elegant portions they need to be perfect, they were far from perfect. Other than that apart from being forgotton at dinner and left sitting there the staff were good.
We have stayed here a few times now.
I do think this time it felt more run down and is in need of a clean up and modernisation. On checkout we were informed that the new owners are doing this.
The room was clean but the bed linen needed a change.
The staff are lovely and the same ones remain and recognise us each time and make a real effort.
They did upgrade our room too,and it was for a special occasion so that was lovely.
Overall I felt the price we paid was quite expensive as the hotel needs a revamp, but location is brillint and it is the Lake District.
Staff amazing and would like to try it again when it reopens in a year or so.
The hotel and room were good. The room was quiet and comfortable with a good bed and sufficient space. Wifi signal not good however, so had to use mobile data instead. The staff were helpful and attentive - when we could find them because there were too few. For this reason they can't answer the phone and group head office doesn't appear to respond to voice messages.
The food really let the place down. For "crusty bread" instead read "dried and tough bread" but no one came by at the right time to complain. Won't be back. Sorry.
enjoyed the stay
Great hotel, super friendly staff.
Entrance from the car park old, scuffed with dirty carpet and maintenance buckets and ceiling debris , not a good start . £289 for a suite that had scaffolding covering main windows and no blind . Workmen could be heard next morning . Sash window by the bed could not be opened as it had two screws to stop it. Extractor fan didn’t work in the bathroom ..Outside terrace dirty and therefore unusable on a pleasant evening. Main restaurant dirty , service slow and didn’t take correct orders at breakfast . Menus identical to all other hotels with hotel names differing eg Wordsworth burger . Not one member of staff seemed to be happy , pleasant or courteous. No locals seem to be employed here either . Standards have seriously lowered and this hotel is living on its previous reputation.
Great location in the heart of Grasmere. Easy parking. Good breakfast. Lovely new bathroom. The room itself and the restaurant and reception areas could do with a bit of an update which would make it fabulous. Maybe removing some carpets and having wooden floors would help.
Lovely staff and great food - hotel needs a bit of tidying up as looking tired in places
Great stay
