Great food and wine and comfortable room
Pros:

Lots of work happening in the restaurant so difficult to rate as the breakfast room was being used instead of restaurant but the service good and wine were excellent

It was convenient for our route south.

Cons:

I know we were out of season (but it was Christmas) there was a distinct lack of welcoming atmosphere and a vague smell about the place. Everything seemed clean but also murky. The food is the large fully lit dining room was acceptable but the waitress wasn’t!! She answered her while taking our order and didn’t come back, so we only got 2 courses but the complimentary appetisers were so grim we didn’t mind. The lady who runs it is very pleasant but very busy and left too much of the personal interaction to her surly waitress. £200 we could have spent better.
