Very noisy room over the bar with people in the bar past midnight shouting or talking loudly
No restaurant or food available we were told there’s biscuits in room but these were already gone by I guess previous guest and empty packets were in the room bin that hadn’t been emptied
Nice staff but hotel is not one I will be visiting again
Nice and convenient place. Just remember that your room is right over the pub so there is some noise.
We stayed in room three in the main building. It’s the shabbiest room we’ve ever stayed in. The carpet going upstairs was absolutely filthy and was an indication of the state of the room. It couldn’t have seen a lick of paint for twenty years and there were stains on the walls that looked like a drink had been split and had run down them. The bedding was clean but the bed was so hard we were tossing and turning to avoid pressure points. Every hour there was a loud noise for about ten seconds, which seemed to be a pump. The bathroom seemed to be clean but I couldn’t be confident that the shower was because it was so shabby, so we didn’t use it; luckily, we were only staying one night. Kingsclere is lovely but we won’t stay here again.
The venue wasn't open on arriving but gained access. The room was basic, but clean except for the wc that had been used ( not only as a urinal if you know what I mean )but not flushed or cleaned. Then informed that no restaurant facility's were availability. On requesting for a taxi informed none local and available on pre booking only.
Had we know these details in advance we would have driven home after the function rather than back to the accommodation where noise from the bar until closing time was loud and not the most comfortable mattresses. Friendly pub manager raised this review.
Very pleasant staff although room could do with an update.
Very quiet and easy to get to.
One night stop over . Good staff
After reading the previous reviews l was sceptical. However the room was amazingly clean with lovely good quality sheets and towels, the bar area was excellent too very clean and welcoming.
If you want to stay there please ignore the negative views ….. the rooms are dated but clean and if you want the Ritz Hotel I’m afraid you have to pay the price!!!!
It’s excellent value for money!!!
Friendly welcome from helpful staff, easy free parking and nice room with modern private bathroom.
Good pub atmosphere, friendly staff. Room was upstairs, needs full refurbishment and mattress replaced. Stains on walls, stink of sewage in room. Manageable for 1 night but wouldn't stay again. Sadly no food options.
Good all around propety
Booked last minute to break up our journey to Portsmouth. What lovely people. Will definitely stay here again when I'm working local.
Excellent place to stay
Was as described
Good for a nights stay.
No food which was disappointing and we were not told beforehand. TV in both rooms didn’t work despite trying to tune it. One room missing tv remote. One bathroom good but the other needs renovating. Rooms were not serviced after first night which was not what we expected. Bar was ok with friendly staff.
Unfortunately I was met on arrival with the message that they no longer served breakfast and diner.
I failed to spot the WiFi code in the room.
The shower needs a jolly good clean to remove black mould.
There was no one there this morning to settle up with.
I’ll finish with a positive. The room was tidy the linen clean and crisp and the bed comfortable and it was inexpensive.
It was generally good. Sadly, no nearby shopping point. Then, the sore point was not having hot water to bath on the morning of my departure.
But it wasn't totally bad after all.
Many thanks Expedia.
Was just a one night quick stop as a solo traveller on a motorcycle trip was adequate enough. No food option at all. Read reviews it was noisy, I did not find that the case really.
Room was ok. Pub was quite noisy but that’s expected.
Very limited parking so may have to park on a grass verge if coming back in evening time.
All good
