Atter arriving and freshening up, I went in search of a drink to enjoy in the garden as it was a lovely evening. I was told the bar closed, which was very early for a hotel and I had to beg for a drink of water. I couldn't sit anywhere down stairs after 10 and was told I had go to my room in no uncertain terms. I'd driven three hours to get here!
I wasn't expecting that, after all the glowing reviews of the place. I was really sad, as I thought I would treat myself to a little get away. I ended up feeling miserable.
Facilities and building
Smell in the rooms and cleannesses
The hotel is in a nice location in the village. The staff were welcoming, the pool and the garden at the back were lovely. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed, including a fan as it was very hot period. The cleaning ladies were very accommodating and generous. We did not have lunch or dinner at the hotel, just breakfast which was ok but lacked variety and choice.
We had booked two rooms as travelling with a pre-teen. Our request for the rooms to be next to/ close to each other was not fulfilled, which was disappointing. The spa facilities were a bit dated. The sauna has few big cracks between the wooden planks where cold air comes in from and the sauna does not stay hot as it should. Also the sauna is not switched on early in the morning to get hot for when guests want to use it, one needs to call for a staff to switch it on and wait for some time for it to get hot. Breakfast: the choice was minimal, no cheese, ham, etc.. the yoghurt was in a very small bowl which finished very quickly, then it was replenished. Our request for a stronger coffee was granted on one of the mornings as the coffee was very weak, but it was refused the next morning (same weak coffee). This was very disappointing and left a bitter taste in our mouths (pun intended).
Great full English breakfast. Indoor Swimming pool.
Lovely hotel in the picturesque Angmering. The swimming pool and gardens were really nice and our room was a decent size. The food in the restaurant was good and not as expensive as one of the pubs in the village.
The hotel seemed to close up at 9 and in our case more like 8.30 (perhaps it’s different at the weekend) and if you want to eat in the hotel
7 seemed to be the latest. So you have to go out or go to your room. Our bathroom could have done with a makeover and the shower at the pool was a little grubby.
Staff were very friendly and helpful by far the best part of staying there. Parking was easy.
The hotel was really tired and in need of refurbishment. There was a four poster bed in my room with a large television screen mounted on the wall in the corner but you could only see the tv screen from one far side of the bed. The sofa was sagging and the bathroom taps required an engineering degree to work out.
Quiet room, plenty of off street parking, good breakfast, plenty of tea & coffee available in the room.
The location is good, and the hotel has plenty of old-world charm and character. The gardens are also lovely.
Having enjoyed our stay here a few years ago, we were looking forward to returning. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. Dinner was below standard, breakfast was poor, and the limited evening service meant the bar closed shortly after our arrival. Overall, the experience fell well short of our previous stay.
Excellent staff. Very good breakfast. Good parking. Perfect location for me.
Small room with TV flat on wall in corner. Difficult to watch.
The staff were very attentive and friendly
Nothing
The building is very historic with lots of wood panelling and different levels. We were on 2nd floor, which was very quiet. The room was not huge, but adequate with plenty of storage and facilities. Bedding was lovely and bed comfortable. The bathroom was quite large in comparison to the bedroom, it was clean and airy. Plenty of private parking. We used the indoor swimming pool during our stay which was lovely. We had breakfast every morning and one dinner, all meals were well cooked and service very good. The sun terrace on a warm summer evening is a great space to eat and drink. Similarly, the cosy bar and lounge during the winter months with log fires must be lovely. All the staff were helpful and professional.
Poor wifi in our room. Smaller furniture in our bedroom would make the room feel bigger.
Lovely hotel, comfortable, friendly staff, beautiful furniture and decoration, a typical British atmosphere.
Breakfast was nice, as well as the friendly and smiling waiter.... but the presentation of the buffet with cereals, fruits and yoghurt did not strike me as particularly attractive....
