Excellent location
Pros:

Had a pleasant stay at the Doubletree Istanbul Old town whilst in the area. It’s very well situated for all the major sites with the #1 tram stopping right outside so in just 3 stops you are in Sultanahmet where the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia (avoid as it’s in scaffolding) are located also the grand bazaar.

Check-in was quick and allocated room on the second floor which faced the street. The noise from outside wasn’t too bad but you do hear the early morning call to prayer from the speakers outside which does not last too long otherwise it was peaceful, and I slept well.

The room was a decent size, the furniture a tad dated but well maintained. Plenty of coat hangers in the wardrobe and lots of storage space. The bed was very comfortable and clean.

The bathroom ticked all the boxes, good counter space on both sides of the sink. Easy to use shower with shower gel & shampoo dispensers on the wall and clean fluffy towels.

There was a small fridge with 2 complimentary waters which were replaced every day and an ice machine near the lift too. The wifi was excellent and worked very well. There is also a business center on the first floor should you need to do some work or print off your boarding pass.

Breakfast was included in my rate and busy both mornings over the weekend. The breakfast room is big so there are lots of tables. There was a great choice of breads, fruit and cheeses as well as lots of salad items. Being a Muslim country, there was no bacon or ham on the menu but there was alternatives. Fried eggs and omelets were cooked to order also waffles! Do try some Turkish tea with your breakfast.

Security was good at the hotel so you needed to use your room key to get to your floor and as in most places in Istanbul there is a metal detector as you enter the hotel lobby for your safety.

Staff were friendly and happy to help. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and would recommend it as it’s very well positioned for tourists and a few minutes walk from Vezneciler metro station to get you to and from the airport on the M2 / M11 lines.

Too pricey for vintage hotel
