Wonderful stay in a gorgeous French Chateau.
Catherine and Yves were excellent hosts, a a meal at the Chateau is a must.
Lovely chateau run by very attentive, multi-lingual owners and staff. Great (new) pool and extensive grounds. The restaurant is first class. We had a most enjoyable stay.
The property is outstanding retaining historical elements and yet with many modern conveniences especially in the outfitting of the guest rooms.
The host hospitality is warm, professional and friendly even though this was my first visit I was greeted as if it was one of many return visitations. I wrote an email just prior to my visit requesting a dinner reservation and it was responded to within the hour.
Dinner was excellent. The cleanliness and attention to small details is apparent throughout the hotel.
Definitely a wonderful get away for the weekend for me personally.
I organized a night here for my Sister and her Husband when they flew in from Australia. It was a 50th Birthday present for them, and it was ideal. The Chateau itself is gorgeous, and amazingly kept. Original staircases go bump in the night, and there are the creaks and cracks that anyone would expect with buildings of this antiquity, so that was fine. I have lived in Europe for 22 years, and I was flabbergasted by the beauty of the place, but my Sister and cuñado were blown away. It was really impressive, and great to see it had the effect desired for a 50th Birthday present. I figured that that would be the thrill of the day, but then we went to the restaurant for the evening meal. We were impacted immediately at the service of the staff, especially the lady who owns the house (sorry, the name eludes me). She was brilliant. We laughed all night, ad she easily adapted tot he requirements of each table. The food was incredible, the wine was on the expensive side (but excellent) and I suppose fit well in the general ambiance. I cannot wait to get back to this Hotel and share this experience with my wife, and other visitors from around the world. It is one of France's hidden gems!
Nice enough. Great food at the restaurant. Asked if I could bring my own bottle of wine to dinner and was told it was illegal in France. It’s not. Hate being lied to. Beware. Room was on the third floor and there is no elevator.
Every detail has been considered at Chateau de Lalande. The Chateau is beautiful and the grounds are meticulous. Our room was extremely well appointed and our children loved having their own room within our larger family room. We ate dinner and breakfasts both days and the food was delicious and very high quality. The owner, Catherine, was extremely helpful in sharing suggestions for how we would spend our details and her recommendations were perfect. It is a very calm environment and we will absolutely return.
The owners were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. For a relaxing stay in the country this is a perfect destination.
We had a lovely stay at this chateau. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the chateau is in a beautiful setting close to Perigueux and surrounded by trees and red squirrels. Our room was elegant and comfortable, and the evening meal exquisite!
friendly staff, great restaurant, beautifully decorated rooms and saloon, small quiet pool. If thinking of booking don't think, just book.
Charming historic property with modern facilities including A/C, great views from our bedroom, limited wardrobe space. Very good service, interesting building characteristics, attractive pool complex. A little off the beaten track.
Would have liked to stay longer.
Luxurious. Charming. Private. Elegant.
Haute cuisine (but not veggie friendly).
We stayed in a number of Chateaux all of which were excellent. This one was the best of a very good bunch. Hosts very welcoming, room very comfortable, food superb.
Chateau De Lalande offered us a gracious welcome and a relaxed time in a beautiful and comfortable atmosphere.
What a joy! Evening meals in the restaurant were most exquisite. They obviously have a fantastic chef.
It was great quality and surprisingly not expensive.
Wonderful hotel with a very friendly staff. A stay in this tranquil chateau is something that I would recommend without hesitation. Modern decor has been tastefully added to complement the old building. There are quite grounds and a good swimming pool. The food is magnificent. We dined at the hotel four times and ate some of the best food we have ever tasted anywhere in the world. The hotel is a 15 minute drive from Perigueux with its historic buildings.
We had a very nice room on the ground floor of this country mansion/chateau. The building was renovated with a lot of good taste, with great care taken to preserve lovely period features like the wooden floors. Most of the furniture is antique, which adds to the charm of the place. We had dinner at the restaurant, which was also very nice, with a beautiful view of the garden. The food was delicious (the chocolate/ganache desert in particular). The breakfast was also good, with a lot of different things to choose from. We also enjoyed going for a quick swim in the pool in the morning.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The welcome and hospitality from Madame are just outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble, she is friendly and helpful and incredibly warm. Without it being 'too much', it almost felt like staying with friends. Her husband, and business partner, is in charge of the kitchen and dinners and breakfasts were delightful. The chateau is very pretty and it's a great base to explore the Dordogne (easy drive into Perigueux, but an expensive taxi ride). Only quibble was that the shower - which looked great - was a bit feeble. Oh, and pretty, elegant, but not terribly practical couch in the room. Bed was large and comfy (we were in a junior suite).
Loved the innkeepers. Great people and Yves is the best chef!!!! Food was fabulous!
Country hotel in a lovely setting, at the other end of the spectrum from anonymous modern chain hotels. The proprietors are taking a lot of care with the decor and service. The only slight issue was the lack of vegetarian food on the Dinner Menu, but breakfast was one of the best I've ever had in a hotel. Definitely deserves the 4-star rating. I was just passing through but it would be a good centre from which to explore the surrounding Perigueux area.
The hotel is good, although I would have welcomed a sports channel - speak of being finicky. The restaurant however is excellent. I have had good meals before, but here I have tasted very fine flavours. Dinner was as much an artistic experience as satisfying my appetite.
We wished we had stayed longer. This is a beautifully, most tastefully restored hotel/chateau with a top class restaurant. Prices are slightly high, but not unreasonably so, considering the high standard of service in addition to the quality, comfort and cleanliness of the room. Excellent breakfast and a top quality dinner. The husband and wife team both speak very good english, are most welcoming, helfpul and considerate. The hotel itself is very well appointed and perfectly situated for visiting the wonderful Perigord.
