San Giorgio

The hotel is
Bright, clean, with easy access to all venues in Campobasso and the surrounding area. Our room was comfortable with daily cleaning and fresh towels each day. There was a safe, TV, hair dryer, refrigerator and lots of space to store clothing. We enjoyed the outstanding breakfast buffet each morning. There was something for any taste from savory to sweet. Our dinner in the dining room was gourmet. The staff were friendly and accommodating. A grocery store within walking distance was convenient. We also could enjoy pizza (RobertoMiele)and/or meals nearby restaurants(Concetta). Our only suggestion would be that we could enjoy cards/games in the dining room after hours since we had a party of 6. We loved the outside area for conversation and breakfast.

This hotel is centrally located in this lovely town. The staff are friendly. The morning buffet was standardly good for Italy.
The beds were painfully hard and the staff had no solution since the front desk kept saying they were orthopaedic. I had to come up with my own solution which almost worked! The cleaning staff knocked and walked in on me in my underwear as I was saying do not come in. That was laughable.
This hotel is more like a motel and definitely not a 4 star.

After a long day travelling, we were welcomed like old friends. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was excellent - seemed to be relatively recently renovated.
The evening meal was excellent in a very relaxed atmosphere.
A good selection at breakfast, although a little confusing (but this is from someone visiting Italy for the first time!)

We were searching for a hotel in Campobasso and because the choice of accommodation in town is really limited, we have chosen this 4 star hotel, hoping to get quality.
But this hotel is definitely not what it should be:
1) when we arrived, parking in front of the entry of the hotel were busy, so in order not to block the passage, we went to park behind the hotel and had to carry our luggage all the way. As we noticed later, the cars were parked there all the time, so probably by employees. Usually this parking area at the entry is kept free for guests to load and unload the luggage in the standard 4 star hotels, but not here.
2) before you enter the hotel, you find full ashtrays on the tables at the sitting area right at the entry. Later on we realized this is the "smoking area", so you have to cross groups of smokers when coming back and you are not sure, if you are entering a pub or a bar. Definitely not a 4 star hotel.
3) when we entered the empty lobby, we noticed immediately the filthy carpet in front of the reception and even with pieces of dirt that should be vacuum cleaned
4) everything in the hotel was old, worn and should have been changed already many years ago - see pictures of the bathroom. You can not even adjust the height of the shower. These is the cheapest shower that you can find in the store. Dont hope to get single use soap and shampoo. You find the dispenser with 2 in one liquid
5) When we arrived, we asked, if we could get a city map, but unfortunately we were informed that they have no more maps. A printed version was not available either. Anyway they did not have the maps even 2 days later, when we were leaving, so they had no hurry to get stock.
6) One evening we wanted to borrow umbrellas, but we had the same answer. There are no more umbrellas. All umbrellas are out. Anyway to ask for it we had to go to the reception, because the phone in the room did not work!
7) The top of our experience in this hotel was breakfast. The first day we got 3 croissants, and we were lucky, because otherwise we would have to choose from the dry and not good looking cakes that seemed to be waiting there already some days, or full variety of "merendine" - Italian morning cakes from the supermarket, or if you had a good look - dry, brown coloured ham placed behind a glass, that also seemed to be few days old.
The second morning we arrived at 8.30 and there was the last chocolate croissant. We asked for 3, but the lady said, that there are no more croissants! We started to protest, how it is possible, when it is only 8.30 and they are out of cakes. What was our surprise, that the lady went to the kitchen to ask and "ALL of a SUDDEN" they brought full tray of croissants! Unbelievable!
The first day we have received a cappuccino, that was more like milk with a bit of coffee, the second day they were so confused, that they even forgot to bring it!
Anyway I would like to stress, that the personnel was very kind, this whole absurd situation is a problem of instructions, that these people receive from their superiors!

So to summarize, in this hotel everything needs to be changed, but the first thing to change is the MANAGEMENT!

Campobasso is the land of my mother and her family (Sabella), sentimental reason for my recurrent trips. It is also one of the most beautiful places in the world and unique in its rich culture. Hotel San Giorgio the ideal place as a base to explore Campobasso and Molise. Centrally located and yet quiet; good bedrooms and a friendly service. It's restaurant now offers the best cuisine in Campobasso. Dinner at its terrace with a breathtaking view of Monforte Castle can be a romantic experience as few.

Omg thought this would be a nasty little hotel but found five star service as soon as I arrived. Delightful guy on reception. Lovely Anna cleaned the rooms as though she was in the savoy. London hotels you need to steal Manuele from Italy !!! Lovely lovely

This hotel is just fine no complaints and easy parking for cars and motorcycles, a shortist walk to the nice part of town, ok price , good breakfast. There was nothing to winge about

It was a clean hotel in a good location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very good value. Had a lounge and restaurant. Food and service was very good

Everything was very nice. Just know that no one speaks English. At most bars/restaurants at least one person can communicate in English, but no one at Hotel. However, very nice hotel and good breakfast. Ciao!

Per me il miglior Hotel di Campobasso per il rapporto Qualità/prezzo.
Da migliorare il servizio del ristorante perchè, nonostante le apparenze, risulta approssimativo e poco professionale. (ad esempio se chiedi il condimento per la verdura ti lasciano la bottiglia dell'aceto Ponti in plastica sul tavolo)
