whole hotel was so cold, eating and drinking with our coats on.
Pros:

Freezing cold hotel and rooms, was told they would put heaters in our rooms, that did not happen we were so cold all night including my 87 year old mother.
Told us they had heating problems. Offered us a free bottle of wine if we stay again.
Promised our money back by manager Joshua, never received it, just ignores my emails. Badly let down

Vacancy for Manager
Pros:

The car parking is free and freshly surfaced, make sure that you register to avoid being charged.

Fire alarms are unpredictable and irregular, expect disturbed nights. You will not get an explanation nor an apology.

If dining, it is preferable if you know exactly what you have ordered looks like and tastes like. It will help to avoid unpleasant surprises. If in doubt call it out

Sunday lunch
Pros:

We went to the kingscliff in clacton for Sunday lunch on Sunday 21st December 2025. The service was outstanding...our waiter was named Henry and we were looked after so well. The operations manager Josh was and is an excellent host..He made us feel so welcome and despite his position, he was ready to assist in every way. Welcoming guests and assisting to serve lunches etc.
All in all, excellent and as we live close by we will revisit.
Thank you.
Merry Xmas.

Ruined birthday party and beyond awful customer service. AVOID!!
Pros:

Absolute nightmare getting booked in the first place due to unresponsive and unhelpful staff. We only kept the booking as it was for a birthday party and we wanted the experience of the outdoor pod.
We'd paid in advance for the garden pod and pre-ordered the food at the restaurants request, only for them to then ring on the day of the party 3 hours before as there had 'been a leak'.
When I asked how long they had known about they said they'd been trying to contact me for days, until I pointed out that i'd spoken to them the day before about food pre-orders and had paid the bill for it that morning when they sent it over. They then tried to tell me the leak had only happened the day before so they couldn't have given me much more notice - whatever happened here it was lie upon lie and the girl on the phone was unapologetic, rude and disingenuous. I've honestly had more pleasant interactions with GP receptionists, and better customer service from a vending machine.
I've then had to chase them repeatedly for a refund of the money paid for both the pod and food preorders, and after being told this could take 7 days its now been 11 and I'm still waiting and £145 out of pocket.
Avoid at all costs.

Breakfast service much improved
Pros:

Stayed November 25 for 2 nights. Having stayed on a few previous occasions and posting a poor breakfast review last time I feel it's time to correct that now. The hotel stay was as good as always with a comfortable and clean room. An evening visit to the restaurant for a meal with friends was well presented and delicious. Initially booked room only but agreed to breakfast after assurances from the check in staff that the breakfast was much improved. Went down hoping for a better experience and was not disappointed, much more professional service along with well presented and tasty food. Will definitely return and book breakfast again.

Amazing
Pros:

beautiful food plus the best dessert ever (sticky toffee pudding) Joshua our waiter was incredibly organised and so polite, welcoming and made our night. The attention to detail of chopping on the cushions and the decor really showed and Joshua was seeing to everyone's needs at the bar in the kitchen in the restaurant and definitely deserves a massive thanks

Lovely Hotel
Pros:

We stayed at this hotel due to previous reviews read on this website.
Check in was smooth and hassle free with an option to book a late check out offered at the charge of £10 per hour which was very reasonable.
Car parking is to the rear of the hotel and you have to enter your vehicle details on the automated pad to obtain your free parking for your duration.

The room was very adequate and there was nothing really to mention other than a "soft" bed and the provided toiletries were of a good standard.

The hotel was very busy in its bar area on the Saturday afternoon when we arrived, which is only to be expected and became much quieter as the evening progressed. Prices across the bar are expensive for alcohol but then again this is not a Weather-spoon's so only to be expected ! Lovely ambience that evening with some great background music being played and good staff on hand.

Breakfast on the Sunday was plentiful and delicious, we choose the traditional full English and were ever so slightly disappointed to find that there was no black pudding available, but this was down to a supplier problem. The breakfast certainly sets you up for the day.

Check out was again without an issue and overall we were really impressed with this lovely sea front hotel.

My only issue and it is not the hotels fault ! was that our room (14) was located facing onto Kings Avenue. The occupants of one of the flats opposite were enjoying a lovely party until 5 a.m and it sounded good fun, however I did not want to be included and unfortunately found myself awake all night grooving along with the best of garage and jungle being played for all to hear. Wife was snoring (just as well as she doesn't like Jungle !) so this appears only to be applicable to us "light sleepers".

All in all this was a very pleasant stay and will consider this hotel again if back in the area. Highly recommended.

A small issue dealt with brilliantly.
Pros:

Had afternoon tea today with 3 friends. Didn’t start out so well as we 2 vegetarians were given 4 finger sandwiches all white bread with cream cheese and cucumber only. Very disappointing. Pointed this out to the manager Caisha who then produced 8 egg/pesto and Brie/cranberry sandwiches between us. We were offered and accepted a free glass of Prosecco each (we’d already had one). Then regular checks made to see if everything was ok, extra cakes provided without asking and plentiful tea and coffee. The bill came with no charge at all for the Prosecco and when we pointed this out we were told all the drinks were on the house. We could not have been better looked after. Staff were friendly and attentive and a special mention to Cashia. Will definitely be back and will spread the news. Thinks to everyone involved.

Impressive!
Pros:

We stayed one night after taking afternoon tea. The portions were generous and we were able to take remaining food in boxes to eat later! The double room was a very good size and well appointed with a side sea view. The room was clean and everything was of a good standard. Staff were helpful when dealing with a couple of minor issues with our afternoon teas and always friendly. The location is excellent with easy access across the road to the promenade and beach. The car park behind the hotel is free and well maintained. Value for money all round.

Dirty tables and rude staff member
Pros:

Having a drink outside in patio/glass area! Asked if table could be cleaned - told they did not have enough staff and cloth was at sauce/cutlery station if I wanted to clean it myself! Said I would pull my own pint as well 😡 really not on. Spoke to manager but don't expect any change as been drinking here for 6 months and never seen a table cleaned. My table did get cleaned but the whole response has left be questioning why we drink here - probably because it's a walk from home.

A lovely hotel, close to the beach, but with a few hiccups.
Pros:

When we visited this hotel, it was hot weather. We were given room 26, which backs on to the carpark. On the outside of our window was the very noisy kitchen fan, which runs from 6am to 9.30/10pm. This room has the only air conditioning unit, but it hasn't worked for quite a while, according to room staff. The room was incredibly hot, so our only option was to open the window and put up with the noise! The reception team tried to sort the issue, but it obviously needs a coolant engineer, and as it has been quite a while, you would hope it would have been sorted by now! We did get given a fan, but it was of little use in the room size.
We only had 3 hangers for 2 people in the room, and yes, we could have asked for more, but we managed. It's just strange that leaving only 3 hangers for new arrivals is acceptable.
The beverage tray was well stocked, with tea, coffee and biscuits. My only grumble was that there was only decaffeinated coffee available.
Unfortunately, our room was not cleaned, as we didn't know we had to hang a request on the door. This should have been explained on arrival. Having worked in hotels for 15 years, I know that normal practice is to clean the room unless, Do Not Disturb is put on the door.
This sounds like a negative review, but I felt these points needed to be raised.
On the whole, the hotel is lovely, comfortable and relaxing. The decor is beautiful, using blue as the main theme. There's a great little garden area and plenty of seating outside the front, facing the sea. The food menu is great and the food itself is delicious. Local people obviously use it well, as the restaurant is busy in the evenings. Definitely book a table! Breakfast offers a great selection of items, too.
The beach, which is just across the road, is clean and sandy, with a few rocks and shingle. There's a great expanse of beach, giving plenty of room for families. The hotel is handy for Clacton on Sea, Frinton on Sea and Walton on the Naze.

Gluten free no problem
Pros:

My wife is coeliac so she has to be very careful about cross contamination. The staff were brilliant and went the extra mile to select dishes with the chef. Very pleased with our service in the restaurant.

Lovely location but some issues
Pros:

The hotel is a really nice place to be in. The bar staff are courteous and nothing is too much trouble. We had three rooms last weekend and in reviewing them, they varied greatly. Although the same price was pad for two of them, only one room had air conditioning and was large, while the other, was small, non air conditioned and very hot. There was a fan but it did little to help. Our room (the smaller of the two) also had a mattress that really needed replacing because when we sat on it, it flattened to the base below. On a positive, it was really well appointed, spotless and clean. The third room, admittedly a single, was really small and hot, but again, clean. My main criticism was the booking in and payment methods. We paid for the rooms at check in in three different ways, as there were three rooms etc, but this proved problematic, as the following day after we had left, I was contacted to say I hadnt paid for the room. They said that they would look into it and would reply but, no-one did and so later in the day, I called back and questioned this with a manager, who confirmed that all the payments were made at time of check in and so was unsure why I received the phone call.
in summary we had a great time, the hotel itself is great and would return, if the above issues, are addressed . Bar staff are great, as is the owner, who we met at breakfast. I/ we do feel that some aspects need to be simplified, as the payment system was awkward and some staff may need to be a little more understanding.
