Our room was clean with a nice bathroom. The beds were comfortable. There was an excellent morning breakfast buffet. The hotel had a nice lobby level restaurant where we had dinner one evening with excellent food and service. The best part of staying here was the location as it was a safe neighborhood, with good side walks for easy walking, interesting nearby neighborhoods, good restaurants and stores to explore.
Our tour group stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our trip and one night at the end of our trip. The staff did not speak very good English, but it was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning did not work but I understand that is a problem in China... It was a good location for our needs.
Like the rest of the surrounding area, this place hasn’t changed in 20 years.
The hotel is nice, with some Tibetan decorations, but that’s just it. It’s simple and old.
Though, for the price it’s still ok.
It’s nestled in the Tibetan area with a lot of Tibetan restaurants, Tibetan shops and Tibetan monks wandering around.
An ok hotel if you’re on a budged and not staying longer than 2 nights
This is an Tibetan Hotel in Chengdu. Our tour group were welcomed with silk scarves which was a lovely experience. This was a two night stay and I enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was adequate, but then I travel with items so I always have my ideal
An older hotel, good friendly service but the windows didn't close very well without the right knack for closing. Comfortable bed.
I was here for a couple of nights in September. I'm a frequent traveler in China. The personnel was fine. The place is simply older. I found the breakfast okay. Plenty of variety. Just better places. Towels in the room were worn. Bedding clean, but older. Stuff like this makes me say, "Old and Tired."
We stayed at Minshan Lhasa Grand Hotel for 2 nights in September while on a group tour of China. We had the most delightful Tibetan welcome on arrival and were each presented with a scarf. We stayed in room 6533 which was quiet and comfy but rather tired and in need of refurbishment. The room had small twin beds, TV, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities, 2 complimentary bottles of mineral water daily, free Wi-Fi, air con, hairdryer and a room safe (but which we couldn’t get to work). Bathroom had a walk-in shower but the shower door wouldn’t close properly so we used the shower mat to absorb any leakage. They had nice thick towels, toweling face flannels, a few complimentary toiletries, bathroom scales, dressing gown and complimentary slippers.
Did not dine in so can’t comment on the restaurant. Breakfast offered a reasonable selection of hot and cold buffet in the restaurant on the 2nd floor. The hotel offers a laundry service. Staff at this hotel were lovely. They also gave us a friendly send off when we left.
Lovely Tibetan welcome and everyone was given a scarf.Rooms were not a great standard but adequate for 2 nights.Breakfast again adequate. Could walk around in the evening to restaurants and Tibetan quarter. Used as a base to visit Jin Li street and Tibetan temple.
Booked the hotel through Agoda booking service and was totally pleased with the whole process. The hotel, while not new, was well cared for and quite clean. My flight arrived in Chengdu quite late, but the staff was ready for my arrival. My room featured a comfortable king-sized bed, a writing desk, and good sized bath with large shower. Free Wi-Fi was available in the room, but wasn't particularly fast. As expected there were several US sites that were not available in China - Google, Facebook, etc. but that had nothing to do with the hotel's internet access. The business center was available during the day and allowed me to print several pages at a very nominal cost.
Breakfast buffet was included with my room and featured western dishes - fried eggs, bacon, cereals, etc. as well as traditional Chinese fare. HUGE dining room, lots of seating.
Breakfast is excellent: fruits, bread, eggs, vegetables, sausage, coffee, etc.
The apartment is fine. I didn't percieve any cigarette smell, as usual in chinese hotels.
Staff is friendly: they try hard to help you whatever you need.
Hotel is close to the tibetan area.
Despite our tour group arriving late (early hours of the morning) all the staff were there to greet us, dressed up in traditional costume and perform their traditional show.
All the staff were so welcoming, our room was very nice, we had an anniversary card and flowers waiting for us in our room (as we were celebrating our anniversary).
The dining area is large with a Tibetan theme.
The hotel is located a short walk away from various parks and gardens where you can see locals in tea houses playing Mah Jong.
At the end of our stay the staff came out to wave us all goodbye.
Highly recommend this hotel for staff, hotel and location.
The hotel was average. We had a "deluxe" room but it was very small. The neighborhood was what made the hotel great - easy to walk anywhere - lots of nearby shopping, great restaurants, safe, friendly people. The breakfast buffet was also wonderful - its good quality Chinese food for breakfast, but there were Western options as well (eggs, toast, fruit)
As a general rule avoid any hotels that call themselves 'Grand'; this is no exception. The theme is Tibetan and the hotel is located in the Tibetan quarter; you can see the differing styles of dress from their Chinese counterparts. The surrounding area is safe and it's a short walk to Wall Mart for provisions. The hotel itself is disappointing, and really needs an update. Staff are however very friendly and do a little welcoming ceremony involving silk scarves.
This hotel was in a good location. It was cheap to catch a taxi into the city (about 15 yuen) and the neighbourhood was really interesting and safe to walk around. The hotel itself is very tired and quite run down. Our room smelt of smoke and there was a cigarette burn on the chair even though we asked for a non-smoking room. The corridors and elevator also smelt of smoke. Bathroom was filthy. The toilet and bed sheets were clean which was the only reason we stayed instead of finding another hotel. Breakfast was OK.
The staff were very helpful even if we didn't speak Cantonese or Mandarin. They went out of their way to call a manager who spoke English. The complimentary breakfast buffet was overwhelming. they had western and Chinese options and a little of Tibetan snacks.
My family and I (five people) stayed at this hotel for two nights. Though we stayed in rooms that advertised King-sized beds, they were probably the size of Queen beds by North American standards. A roll-away bed costs an additional $30 per night. Rooms were quite spacious and relatively clean (maybe at the 3-star level in the U.S., but definitely far from the 5-star level).
The staff spoke minimal English, but were quite friendly. I had little difficulty communicating with them, but that's probably because I have studied Mandarin for just over a year.
The location of this hotel is great, with Leanna's (a Western cafe and restaurant) literally across the street from the hotel, and there were plenty of taxis (we saw probably 15-20 of them every minute) to catch when we had to leave for the airport in the morning.
Stayed here as a member of a tour group, and received a charming welcome when we arrived quite late in the evening. Staff assembled in the foyer to greet us; we were each draped with a white scarf and treated to a rendition of a Tibetan folk song. It would be churlish to be critical after that. The room was fine, but a little hot; having struggled with the air con controls, I followed the instructions that said 'in case of difficulty phone reception'.The lovely lady on reception spoke very little English (and why should she...we Brits do get a bot spoiled), but shortly after a confusing conversation in which little was communicated, I received a call back from a colleague who did speak English, and after I explained the problem she said 'perhaps you can open the window'. On reflection this was a piece of pragmatic and environmentally friendly advice, though it wasn't quite what I had hoped for. And she was genuinely trying to be helpful and resolve the problem. That probably summed it up - friendly and willing - and a bit quirky, but not quite getting it right on delivery. The dining room with its wooden representation of Lhasa dominating is something to behold though!
一到前台check in就出了问题,酒店说没收到我的订单,又给hotels打电话 打了半个小时电话才解决!房间比较小,整洁度还OK
The restaurant has a huge wooden model of Lasa - very impressive. However, the breakfast on our first morning was rather lacking.
The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped, but showing some signs of it's age.
The staff are very helpful and gave our group a lovely welcome including a song, even though it was near midnight due to a four hour flight delay.
I struggled between three and four stars for this hotel, but just came down on the side of four.
Ok place. Our room was nice enough and was very clean. Beds were good.
Our safe was locked in an open position. I suppose I could have requested that it be fixed for use, but it was not bolted down so I would not have used it in any case.
It took forever for hot water to reach the shower.
Slow but passable internet.
I wish that this 4-star international hotel had at least one English TV channel.
Good location near many good restaurants.
The front desk seemed very inefficient and had trouble with my perfectly good international Visa card. Yet my back up card worked...
I would look around for a better choice next time I'm in town.
