Illinois Beach Hotel

The hotel is located RIGHT ON THE BEACH of Lake Michigan! We slept with our balcony door open EVERY night just to hear the waves!!!!! The hotel is a little bit dated-but clean and cozy beds-staff was excellent from beginning to end!!! Very relaxed atmosphere you just felt relaxed and enjoyed every minute sitting at the beach-DEFINITELY get a balcony room!!!! MAKE SURE TO WATCH THE SUNRISE!!!! Spend down time just refreshing your soul at this place!!! WATCH YOUR DOOR!!! hahaha If you are balcony side and leave your balcony open . . . HOLD YOUR DOOR or it will slam with an unbelievable and unexpected SLAM!!!!!!!!

Dirty towels, mold on ceiling, dirty bed sheets, hairs everywhere. Drain clogs up in shower. Paid $70 for breakfast that I was told was free. Will not be staying here again

Restaurant was out of several things, breakfast was expensive for the food provided and there was some mold on the tub...but tgese were small things when compared to the location and beautiful views. This hotel, and trip, were exactly what i needed for a mental get away. Tgank you.

Only stayed for one night, last minute booking, stayed in room 111. The location is amazing, being on Lake MI. There were no special events going on in the hotel, so our stay was very peaceful. Great place to connect with nature if the hotel isn’t holding an event. We ate appetizers and had cocktails in the restaurant. I loved the margarita I was served by our friendly server. We ordered calamari and a flatbread pizza. Food tasted ok- not amazing, but not bad. The front desk employee, Renita, was very nice. Our room was clean - clean sheets, clean towels, clean bathroom, clean refrigerator. The hotel overall looks a little worn out even though it supposedly was renovated in the last few years. Maybe the maintenance staff doesn’t keep up with small repairs like peeling wallpaper, window washing or carpet stains. This could be a really top notch place if ExplorUS took better care
Of it. We thought the mid-century modern design with the split levels, stone floors, and expansive glass window views were beautiful. It’s just overall in need of having more $ put into it to help it reach its full potential.

No pool, no hot tub as it was “under construction” and did not know before renting.

The property has so much potential, it’s a shame that they maintain the minimum standards on cleanliness and atmosphere. Our room obviously hadn’t been stayed in for awhile and was not cleaned up beforehand. They’re were spiderwebs and spiders everywhere inside and the balcony was basically a spider pit. The sink was clogged and had weird stuff floating out of the drain. The shower floor was so stained that I didn’t want to even bathe. The toilet paper holder was hanging on for dear life. Every corner, baseboard, counter was dirty. And the prison fluorescent lightbulbs are every traveler’s dream when it comes time to relax. The only redeemer and the reason it got beyond one star is the location and view are amazing. But again the hotel does nothing to maximize this jewel of a location.

The majority of the staff were wonderful, friendly, and helpful. The location is amazing. The food was excellent. Though I think the bathroom floors need updating. Other than that, I really like this hotel. I have stayed here twice.

Great place to stay. It was unexpected being in a State park. Excellent food in the restaurant.

There were tons of cobwebs with bugs stuck in them everywhere. The grounds were very unkept. There were weeds everywhere. There was mold growing on the wall in my room.

Rooms are very outdated, our air conditioner leaked all over balcony and made a hudge puddle couldn’t even go out on the balcony, there were so many cobwebs everywhere and spiders. Like no one has touched it for a very long time. Had to ask for new towels, rooms weren’t cleaned in the 3 days there.. the bar & restaurant had good food, and of course the location & views are Amazing. But for the price, it’s definitely not worth the $$. And the pool was under construction, should have been informed of that.. not worth the $$

Mold in rooms and ac/heater units, bugs all over balcony, every floor in the entire hotel needs a deep clean. Staff is extremely nice but the hotel is gross which is a real shame bc the location is unbeatable.

The staff was amazing the room was very comfortable, it wad very relaxing. Came to see my son graduate navy boot camp and we had a wonderful time and the price is perfect
