Mr Abdoulie Kanyi is an excellent and professional front of house manager he deals with every requirement or issue raised with speed and efficiency. He is definitely and asset to the Senegambia Hotel. However, in complete contrast some of the security guards on the beach act with less that professional behaviour including the person who is responsible for putting out the beach mattresses who only seem to favour European tourists for mattresses for beach beds even those who are not staying at the hotel, above and beyond guests who are legitimately staying at the hotel. This discriminatory behaviour is giving the Senegambia hotel a very bad reputation internationally. Security guards need better training as they spend most of their time looking into their phones and disturbing legitimate non-European guests whilst allowing non paying European tourists who are staying in local apartments to use Senegambia hotel facilities for fee.
Decent facility and Great location. Decent breakfast buffet.
Unprofessional, rude and disrespectful staff members made my stay uncomfortable and unpleasant.
The pool
The room size
It is probably as good as it gets on the SenaGambia strip.
Snack of wings and fries was nice.
Reasonable selection for breakfast.
It is a bit of a vast complex so with luck you’ll get a room closer to reception than I did.
The pool bar staff are lazy, it’s almost a pain for them that you have asked for a couple of coca colas. The staff in the colourful dresses are the worst.
The pool needs better cleaning and had a slight oil slick on the surface.
Lovely grounds, staff and pools.
Excellent location. Hotel grounds extend to a lovely beach. Numerous restaurants very nearby. One, an excellent Lebanese.
Nice atmosphere throughout hotel. Most of the staff very friendly and helpful.
Our room was quite dated, especially the shower, but was comfortable and cleaned daily.
Room was quiet, but because of large clear glass window the curtains had to be kept closed, and so the room was quite dark.
Breakfasts were excellent. Unfortunately on the day that I went on an early trip, a packed breakfast was given to me that shocked me! 2 dry slices of bread with some slices of tomato and cucumber. A hard boiled egg and a slice of cake. No drink.
Evening meals were ok, but as a vegetarian not a great choice.
Two swimming pools, one of which was quiet and the other more suitable if you have children. An excellent idea.
I thought that the hotel was good value and I would certainly recommend it, and if I were to return to The Gambia I would use it again, but would upgrade my room.
L'emplacement
We have just returned from a two week break here. I have to say that it is like being in paradise, with monkeys wandering to keep you entertained, so many exotic birds to watch and well, the staff are nothing short of amazing. (most) I would like to give a special mention to Omar Jawo (pool attendant) always smiling, always helpful and very funny and caring. Our cleaner in H block Majaw Jobe, was so lovely and ensured our room was cleaned to perfection and even offered to help source something for us in his town when my husband became unwell. The servers at the pool bar was always smiling and happy, however, the lady who appeared to be the head lady in the multi coloured dress who sat behind the cash all day and introduced you into breakfast, never said good morning/ thank you just simply looked us up and down. Not necessary.
We ate out each evening Scala is a must, there is a Mexican just beside which was also nice (forget the name) but if you don't want to venture far, 3 chicks is amazing and they are so friendly.
The weather was truly amazing and got hotter each day. The airport was very hectic upon departure and so unorganised. We initially stayed in N block but the noise was unbearable with neighbours and outside noise, so after 5 days we upgraded for around £140 for the remaining 9 days and slept well thereafter.
You very quickly, become part of the local community with people stopping you but they accept no and then invariably wish you a good day. We were very sad to leave, but all good things eh? It was nearing the end of the season and therefore very quiet so no racing for beds etc.
Positives: Lovely gardens, Pools areas and also the beach area, staff at reception, breakfast you can’t fault them. Near the strip so handy for meals as we only had breakfast at the hotel.
Negatives: Room 1st allocated was tired and greatly in need of upgrading. There was a strong smell of mould as soon as we got into bed the smell was even more overpowering. Changed rooms next day to & equally tired and the cleaners really need to clean better. Walls in shower had mould
Near strips for restaurants and a large variety and cheaper than eating in hotel but very dusty .
Yep there are geriatrics men and women who are in relationships with very young people it’s sad due to poverty. Would go back but stay in somewhere else.
Breakfast, location, staff.
Mosquitoes were buzzing in my room. I requested that my room be sprayed with insecticide, but it didn't help.
Also, there were too many cats in the environment. A red flag for people who don't like cats.
Exellente
Very nice hotel with two pools, a big and tasty breakfast buffet and beautiful birds and plants on the property. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Good service and great location with many shops, bars and restaurants as well as a little craft market just outside.
Some of the facilities are a bit dated but everything works just fine. Some rooms can be slightly noisy.
We have just returned from a fabulous holiday at this hotel, booked through TUI and paid for the upgraded room which was worth it.
The room was large, clean and tidy with ample storage, it included a large double bed, fridge, aircon, safe and hairdryer at no extra cost.
Balcony front and back overlooking the gardens and watching the monkeys play from the balcony.
Breakfast was great, lots of choice and fresh cooked eggs and pancakes.
The staff were friendly and helpful
The quiet pool was fabulous for a swim, Omar the pool guy was really hard working, noticed straight away if guests needed a bed or mattress and made sure the pool was kept clean of leaves, Omar was one of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen, chatting to guests and making them comfortable
Aqu airobic with Abdul was great, funny and good exercise- this is daily at the beach pool.
We had lunch at the beach pool several times and it was good and reasonably priced
On Sunday nights there was a fantastic saxophone player from 8-10pm at the quiet pool bar, amazingly talented musician and well worth staying at the hotel to watch! We usually go out of an evening but stayed to watch this show.
The hotel is fabulously placed for the beach and the “strip” which is where all the restaurants are.
There is an onsite spa which is good value but a bit “hit and miss” depending on who does the treatment- some are excellent some no so good and always late
We would come again and recommend this hotel
really enjoyed our stay yet again at this hotel didnt see the monitor lizards again this year but all the other wildlife in the hotel grounds is amazing the vulture feeding and the black kites backed up by red and black hornbills and a whole host of other birds and dont forget the monkeys lol. I do feel like i have to mention that the dirty old men that frequent the gambia to pick up under age girls is very distasteful and shouldnt be a thing but also elderly ladies also pick up young gigolos and bumsters for the same thing in england they would be named and shamed but theres a lot of delusional thinking that gos into the whole matter whereas they think its acceptable . Spent a lot of time thinking id like to tell some of these people how disgusting they are !!! Its easy to turn a blind eye to these things which is probably why they think its acceptable !!! Anyway nowt to do with this hotel as its one of the best and ideally placed to experience the senegambia strip and further afield
