The Tray Hotel

Recently rebranded as The Tray Hotel, its location was right in the city centre, which was conveniently to travel around. My assigned room was facing a small lake (or might be a canal) that was quiet and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was tasty, however, during my stay, it was temporarily relocated on the 8th floor without any notification.

Exellent, fast service, employees speak good english. A swimming pool on top of a building is nice!

Location is at central, so shops are close. Gym is a bit small but thats the case allways in hotels.Breakfast is very good. No bad things to say. I recommend this hotel.

Close to downtown. We ventured to the street and had Pho from a street kitchen with the aid of our bus driver. The young people in the fancy Viettel shop spoke not a word of English but an older shopkeeper in his basic phone shop had more than adequate English to help my husband. Staff were helpful and breakfast buffet very nice. I would recommend this hotel.

Rooms are a bit dated (older decor) but bathrooms appear very new and very functional! Buffet was nice with good selection of food and great view of the city from the top floor. Rooftop pool was nice too.

Night staff was not nice at the furst day and he cheated the currency conversion. I found that out on the next day. He wasn't nice on the second day either.
I also booked a taxi but the taxi came 30 mins late so I was almost late for my flight.
Hotel was very expensive compare to its facilities and its service.
Hot noodle breakfast was very good though.

Rooms are a bit worn, but still good quality and quiet for good nightrest. Excellent housekeeping taking care of clean rooms. The current renovation has not bothered me for 1 second. Staff at reception and roomserice very serice oriented and good English language skills. Food tasty and good.

Only minus was the lack of attitude from some of the management. Smoking at breakfast, phoning loudly in the presence of guests, taking full service from their own staff. In the many hotels that I visit the management mostly refrain from this.

I was on an invitation for breakfast and lunch. The hotel is a reputable address for business and MICE. It has a beautiful view of the city too. Lovely lobby lounge. Staffs are very friendly. Clean and comfortable rooms.

Everything here is average, except for the Reception, which is below average. Was not at all helpful when i tried to book a car.

Food is also below average, and you get the feeling that you just need to finish and get the hell out.

The only upside i experienced was the bell boy, smiling and welcoming at the door.. And the wifi was decent.

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. It's a clean and comfortable hotel with a friendly front desk. Pretty much what you expect of a 4* hotel and it's price. Rooms are slightly dated but it shouldn't matter if you're just looking for a clean bed and hot shower after a long day out. Will definitely stay here again if I was to visit Haiphong again.

Our family stayed here 6 nights. Everything is so good and comfortable. Room are big, clean. Staffs are helpful and so friendly. Breakfast buffet is nice with many choices for customers. There are restaurants and bars inside hotel, food and drink are delicious. Especially, they saw my birthday date in my passport and they presented me flowers, wine. I was surprised and glad for that.

One of the best hotel in the city, even though it's old it provides good services, food is great and has a lot of variety. It's on the most busy street in Hai Phong, so if you want to have quiet better mention in advance to get a room out of the street side.

It was a cold Monday night (about 8C) when we arrived in Haiphong but thanks to warm greetings and very efficient reception/hotel staff, our weariness disappeared immediately and we were ready again for a late night supper nearby some good seafood restaurants. We stayed for two nights and the breakfast buffet was fantastic. Hope to come back to Haiphong and stay in that hotel again.

Me and my family stayed in this hotel for 5 nights.
The room was quite big and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel have quite skilled chefs coz the food tasted so good.
I enjoyed all facilities in the hotel very much except the spa, this was very dissapointing.
Overall a very nice hotel to stay and relax in.

I visit Haiphong very regularly, 2 times a month for business and have tried several hotels in Haiphong area. I would name Nam Cuong Hai Phong Hotel the best in that city. The staff is always friendly and smiling. The room is clean and tidy.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks. The staff is great and very friendly. Breakfast is a treat and you will not be disappointed. Every morning there is something else to eat. They have a pool on the top floor with a nice view of haiphong. There are2 restaurants in the hotel serving vietnamese food as well as western food....room is big with air conditioning. Very clean hotel and the linen is always fresh. Thanks for a great stay

Stayed here 2 nights in February. Hotel was close to the center of Haiphong and very close to the ferry port. Breakfast was good and I ate dinner in the restaurant one night and found that very tasty. Great staff, very helpful, nothing to complain about! Go up to the roof for wonderful views of the city!

I am a senior experienced world traveler who is picky about accommodations but not overly so.
LOCATION: A bit out of the center, so a cab is necessary to get downtown. but if you have a room high up on the back side, you can watch the folks execising to music in the early morning in kind of mass formation... That sais it is easy to find on a main boulevard and adjacent to an upscale residential neighborhood.
BUILDING: Typical midrise/highrise large modern city hotel with large lobby and reception.
ROOMS: 4 star modern spotless rooms with all amenities, very comfoortable and quiet. get one with a good view.
BREAKFAST: Super buiffet with eggs cooked to order. 5 star. on top floor with views. I ate dinner here every night and it was top notch - delicious with varied international menue. I think this is more a business hotel actually, so it has to be good.
SERVICE: Excellent on all counts.
TIPS:
1. Go downtown in the morning and take the old pax and cart ferry back and forth acrosss the river to be with the local women bringing in their produce on bicycles.
2. Walk along the little secondary river to see the riverfront houses, and then back up through the market.
3. Toursits never come to Haiphong, but I loved it. There is a fantastic temple north of the market not too far from the hotel lost in a residential area. Go see it.

Stayed here the past six weeks while I was working in Haiphong. The hotel and its design might not be the newest everything is well maintained and kept sparkling clean! The staff one of the friendliest I've ever experieced and most of them well trained.
The rooms are comfortable and of decent size,
The lobby bar is a very nice one with comfy sofas to relax a bit after a day at work. The restaurant at the 8th floor serves good breakfast. The lunch and dinner however needs improvement.

Biggest downside for me was the gym opposite to the hotel that starts at 5am every day with very loud music. Alternatively one could choose to stay on the streetside which is less noisy but smelly because there are the smoking rooms.
