A nice houseboat, well maintained, at a very good location and a very good team.
Small room
Excellent location and very peaceful, not very crowded like Dal Lake as this is situated in Nigeen Lake, service was excellent by Ashraf, Reyaz our caretakers & Mr Tanveer our manager were very friendly and hospitable, food was very good
Nothing to really comment
The food was good and the staff was trying to be accommodative
The heating in the room was not working and that made our stay very uncomfortable as it was very very cold outside
Lovely scenic views from the property and accommodating staff.
Power is cut around 8 and the property moves to generator mode. This doesn’t work well for the price point if the a/c, lights and geyser aren’t working.
Ideal if there is more options for meals as well.
we were upgraded to a suite, which was fantastic
Boat is Nigin lake a much better and quester lake than Dal. Ishaq the manager and the caretakers were excellent. The personal involvement of the owner Mr Saboor was very nice to see. Though, remember to keep in mind that you have the exact head count of even little children accounted for. This they charged us even though we rented the entire boat. Did not seem logical when we had the whole boat to ourselves. By overall worth the experience.
It was a lovely experience to stay in a houseboat. Romantic view. Peaceful. Cool Air. Beautiful!
A feedback from people who visited house boats was pretty negative. And, I had already booked this one, But, I am glad I made a real good choice. The boat was new, clean and so homely. I strongly recommend anyone who visits Srinagar to stay here. They are affiliate by ITC and do carry a brand name.
The staff was courteous, warm and the food was so delicious. The owner was arm enough to come and make us feel welcome.
Please visit this houseboat in case you looking for quality stay.
Perpetual
Had a really good time here. The boat is new and the staff is attentive and took very good care of us during our stay. The location is good and the food was amazing
A pleasant trip, particularly they serve excellent food at a very reasonable rate. House boat number 5 is very clean, thoughtfully decorated.
The main hero of this House Boat is the Caretaker young boy called Sharif. Always smiling and helpful. I would strongly recommend a 5 days stay here.
Notwithstanding the above, stay awey from Kashmir till the unrest will be solved.
We had a bad experience on 9th. July 2016, on the road, mobs blocking roads and throwing stones at vehicles.
Kashmir police and CRPF, hard working force saved us to return to HB, a big thank you.
Overall, Kashmir is a lovely state, nice people managed ( or ruled) by ......
The Hotel Reservation had not reached them by the time we reached for check-in. The manager was not very courteous and told us that we would have to pay despite us showing the pre-paid voucher of hotels.com. It was left to us to make calls to hotels.com to confirm our booking. Not the best way to treat guests!
Wooden floor in room was creaky making loud noise while walking across the room disturbing sleep if one has to go to bathroom in the night. Loud noises of utensils being cleaned in pantry through shared wooden partition wall between pantry and our room. carpet in corridor was not properly set with edges curled up tripping me twice, had to request to put a mat over the curled edge. No menu or charges applicable for extra food and beverages were mentioned anywhere nor were informed and at checkout caretaker asked exorbitant amount for water and snacks.
One man friday manging all the guests in the three rooms on the houseboat, with a smiling attitude.
The room was freezing when we arrived and it was between 1-5 * C outside. The only room that was heated was the front room of the houseboat that you enter from. During the night we turned the heater in the room all the way up and woke up to smoke in our room because the old gas burning fireplace isn't properly vented. The water in the shower was difficult to adjust - either too hot or too cold. We were in Room 1. There were two rooms on the houseboat and dinner/breakfast is shared in the dining room with the other guests. The host on the boat was very nice but the manager of the boat was soliciting his rug shop behind the boat from the second you stepped on the boat.
I've been travelling around India for a month and Kashmir is the highlight and the Gurkha was the highlight of Kashmir. I also spent a couple of nights at a hotel by Dal lake, but Nagin Lake was much nicer.
it was a great experience staying at the HB, we enjoyed the rooms and the service. We would like to visit again. our kids were more than excited about our stay in the HB.
The houseboats are very charming and particularly the view from the balcony, over the lake with the mountains behind, is stunning. Facilities such as bathroom could do with freshening up but overall the feeling on the houseboat is of olde worlde luxury. What is outstanding is the staff ... Our 'houseboy' could not do enough for us and served delicious meals. I especially enjoyed drinking Kashmiri tea which is to be thoroughly recommended.
Loved the houseboat experience...would recommend it to anyone especially Gurka Houseboats.
Very welcoming, excellant hospitality great food serene surroundings. Would highly recommend this chain.
