Fernhills Royal Palace is a wonderful old building, set in its own grounds away from the centre of town. It has charm and lovely staff. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant.
The building had no heating so the room and restaurant were cold at night. They did provide a fan heater and hot water bottles but we were cold especially using the bathroom.

Nothing
It is a beautiful old royal palace in lovely grounds away from the hustle bustle of the town.
A bit run down, although you need to make allowances for the age and character of the building. Beds a bit hard, rooms can be cold.
Nothing
The property is very scary.
No proper maintenance done.
Staff is polite
But the vibe and energy is not good. Something seems very very off about it.
No wonder people had instances of paranormal activities.
Overall the location and the ambience was good and the food was nice. The staff was very friendly and very cooperative.
There was an additional 20% discount on food which was mentioned in the booking but the hotel didn't give me the discount on food. When asked about the same the hotel staff told me that there is no discount but it was mentioned in the itinerary.
Spacious rooms
Tv,internet,shower did not work.
4/5G reception very poor
It’s interesting history and nice suite with ante room and courtyard. Lovely books in the library, excellent food, great staff. Hot water bag much appreciated!
Being the only guests in the vast ballroom. The option to have meals in a smaller room might have been nice.
Elegant rooms and furnishings, and beautiful grounds. Fascinating historical items and photos. The staff… particularly William… were extremely friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to look after us. One can really get a sense of what life must have been like in Ooty in times gone by. Delicious food.
The heritage and history
Too cold and the heater not working properly and not warm enough. Hot water was not continuous. Had to wait for sometime
The breakfast was decent and it is a nice quiet lavish place.
Maintenance can be improved
The campus is very good.
The facilities, the rooms, the fixtures, the comfort, and anything that one expects from such a hotel is all absent.
Thesouroundings and royal garden
Was not cleaned toilet used by previous guest and not even flushed
Beautiful location & beautiful property
Need a better food menu & also a bar…
Beautiful property… but needs flowers in the gardens …can be better maintained.
Very happy I stayed here. Lovely building and grounds, very large room, staff very friendly. 2km from RR station. But be warned it doesn't have same facilities as a recently built 4 star hotel. Hot water not always available (but should be hours you'd probably use it). Needed space heater to fully heat room (which was large!). Again, I would highly recommend, but website ads don't make nature of facilities 100% clear so make sure your expectations are appropriate.
Whilst the fittings are nice, the hotel lacks certain things which are expected of a hotel in this price range. For example, there is no heating in the rooms. There is also no WiFi in the property. The dinner buffet is overpriced (however the a la carte menu was delicious and well priced). The breakfast is of average quality. Our toilet leaked, but staff did fix this issue during our stay.
Our room did not have everything that was advertised (no dining area, no robes).
Absolutely stunning hotel. The room I stayed in was spacious and had everything I needed. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The meals there were also absolutely fantastic and the kitchen staff cannot be praised enough!
There was no heat even though the temperature was below 50 degree Fahrenheit. The shower did not work and the food for breakfast had run out. Our rooms had absolutely no windows or sunlight. Badly needs renovation. Most importantly it’s being run with skimpy staff and so no one answered the telephones or took care of you. Sad because bones of property are great.
