This place makes you feel you sleeping in a jungle. At night it is loud not because of city noise, but wild life. Frogs, birds, wild dogs or cicada, you can expect them making noise when you try to sleep. Interesting experience, but also can be a bit annoying. The hotel is located next to the river, there are many restaurants around and the view over the river is very pretty, especially during the sunset. The rooms are nice and tidy. The pool is great and looks nice too. There are also lots of benches and swings near the river. Watch our for mosquitoes. There is a lot of them.
We first visited 15 years ago and sadly apart from the welcome addition of a lap pool nothing has changed.
The hotel is on the wrong side of the river
But close to the bridge.
Gardens are lovely but much else is anchored in the early90s
Rooms are large and come with decent balconies, comfortable beds and superb views of the kwai.
It is relatively cheap but let down by the following:
Tired decor
Bath and shower in serious need of an upgrade - more 70sthanmodern
Taps tiles and shower require refurbishing
Breakfast was the second worst I have ever experienced in Thailand:
Lack of cups , glasses and cutlery
Staff standing around not helping or renewing the buffet which was tired and often cold.
They are clearly catering to the Thai onference trade and not tourists
Some of the front desk staff were willing and helpful but not all
This could be a great hotel but needs new management
This is more a conference facility than a hotel. It was Mostly very empty when we were there as their conference had ended. They run a minimum of services if you are not part of conference - a room, the pool, breakfast and a restaurant. But note, most other hotel facilities are closed down - swim up pool bar closed, second pool full of leaves and closed, sauna closed, no bar in resort (despite it being advertised) so you just sit in restaurant, tennis courts closed a long time ago and in disrepair, one Restaurant not the two as advertised , no business centre (despite advertising one), Big dining rooms set for 100 people but no one was there. Bit like the Shining! Room very tired. Shower could not produce stream of hot water despite complaining twice about it. Cold water showers not that bad though. Bed however is very comfortable and the aircon, though noisy, does work reasonably well. TV aerial held together with tape and so went on and off. Breakfast is good but dinner in restaurant was awful. Dreadfully slow and I moved my own plates, something that people do a lot here. The gardens are beautiful and probably the only thing that is well maintained. Very convenient for the Bridge on the River Kwai with picturesque walks along it. Nice pool. Reception staff very helpful. But it’s overall been a disappointment and we won’t come back.
Great location, tired hotel, awful restaurant food and service. If you have other accommodation options available then avoid if possible.
The hotel is old and worn down, which gave an overall negative impression. When we visited the massage service that the hotel advertises, the experience was unpleasant. The place was messy, I was given a dirty cup, and the massage therapist behaved unprofessionally and made inappropriate, sexual remarks, which made the situation very uncomfortable.
More like a resort rather than hotel. There is a short cut to the dead bridge. There is no lift if you are staying in the 2nd flr
not a convenient room. a lots of stairs until getting to the room. the sheet on the bad was not clean. tje aircondition didnr work until repairung it
I had a nice stay here. The room had a superb view of the river. It was big and clean and everything worked as staff were friendly. The pool is huge. The breakfast was very good with lots of choice. I would recommend but need transport as a walk every were
Hotel is l next to the river Kwai Bridge. We were fortunate and had the entire resort to ourselves wonderful place to stay.
2nd time staying here. It’s a really large hotel. The hotel is located next to the river Kwai bridge. The rooms are clean and large. The breakfast had mainly Thai option with a few western items. The swimming pool was amazing. Note there is a lot of stairs in the hotel which I didn’t mind.
Had a lovely few days here, the staff were wonderful.
There were very few guests while I was there, and for me that was heavenly.
The actual bridge over the river Kwai is directly accessible from the hotel, a short walk from the security hut. Really unique !
There's also a 7 eleven just outside the facility, so that's very good too.
What an amazing relaxing place wow just what was needed. A lovely welcome from the hotel reception , all the hotel team were so friendly and professional. Our room was spotless and all the grounds are very well looked after . Beautiful views of the river kwai , and only a 5 minute walk to the bridge and little town . Wish we could have stayed longer but we will be back next time we visit. Thankyou it’s been a pleasure
walk in distance to river kwai bridge and station, nice and friendly staffs, nice location.
All of the interior spaces, including my room, are/were immaculate, exactly what you should expect from an establishment calling itself a ‘Resort’.
The exterior is showing a little age/wear from the brutal Thai weather.
I didn’t eat at the resort so I can not comment on the food or food service.
It’s a beautiful location on a bend in the river just across the historically famous River Kwai bridge. The bridge is approximately a 10 minute walk.
Goof location next to the river kwai. Well kept property with clean rooms. No elevator to the upper (third) floors. Hot water is only luke warm. Definitely not warm enough for using the bath tub as some other reviewers also noted. Breakfast is ok with many varieties but food was not kept warm. Restaurant staff showed limited interest in serving customers even when there were fewer than 10 people during breakfast time.
Flies are a real problem here. I guess maybe just time of the year as I don’t see other comments but just intolerable. In hotel areas. Room is fine with doors shut and air con on.
Unfortunately, also hotel is deserted which means no atmosphere. They must be 100 rooms and it is deserted which is a great shame because the hotel and the staff are lovely
Great location. Property on older side and probably due for a Reno to take it to the next level but I stayed for ease of location - close to the action but away from the hustle and bustle. Pleasant staff. Will happily choose here for my next visit.
Well situated and beautiful garden. But amenities not funtioning properly. Breakfast and coffee: very under par. No warm water. Needs some modernization of room.
I booked here because the pictures show the bamboo restaurant on the river with perfect view of the bridge.. the restaurant has been closed since Covid I am now told..
About a 2km walk from reception to the bridge - this has to be done in daylight. The start of the bridge only has narrow plate to talk and no lights, a long way to fall. Which also means you need to get a taxi back from town which is easier said than done. Because your on the other side of the bridge about 15 min by road no one wanted to know, easier money to be made from the bars pickups.
Room was really nice, 3rd floor stairs were a little tedious once you were in and out a few times, but the service was spot on with the kart to pick you up and service for your luggage so getting around the resort was easy.
I would stay here again, IF I had a car or bike
Breakfast was great, will even do demonstrations for eggs or Thai coffee making.
What fantastic hotel resort right on the river side and close to the famous rail bridge, lovely and peaceful and with a view of the river (10 metres away).
