Pros:

Overall nice stay, and would stay again. The staff and the restaurant were nice. Only one spa was going. The beds were comfortable. The cleaning needs a bit of upkeep perhaps.. there were live larvae and dead larvae shells under our beds. We noticed this as our daughter lost an earring so we had to move the bed to find it… wish we hadn’t of done that.
Otherwise nice place, handy to the mountain and great facilities close by.

Pros:

We had a wonderful 3 night stay in a king room on the ground floor. Very convenient for driving to Whakapapa ski field. Cosy bar and dining room for the evenings, and pleasant staff. Note for future guests, the bathroom is very small. Daily room service available if desired. We will stay again.

Pros:

The family mezzanine is not young family friendly. The toilet + bath is so small, it was hard to get a water for the pot because of how small the sink was. It felt like they forced the setup to have 2 beds downstairs. Not enough space to move. Upstairs was also tight, the bedside table was already blocking the entry way from the stairs, and also blocking the sockets.
It is also not that clean, the stair is steep and not stable. Outside and neighboring rooms can hear sounds from your room, so you really need to be quiete for the benefit of your sensitive neighbors. The door also doesn’t lock, I mean because of the wood expansion, it was hard to lock the door. If you are unable to notice it, then you’ll end up having an unlocked door.

Pros:

We recently stayed here for a short trip and overall had a good experience.

On arrival, the staff were friendly, professional, and made check-in a breeze. Our room was clean and had everything we needed for the trip, though it was a little smaller than expected. The location is great. The town itself isn’t very big, so everything is within walking distance.

The hotel’s restaurant was a highlight. It’s clean, welcoming, and serves great food. During our stay, breakfast was offered as a buffet due to the number of guests, and it didn’t disappoint. In the evening, we enjoyed a few drinks and a delicious pizza by the cozy fireplace. Service was friendly and quick, which made it a lovely experience.

That being said, there were a few downsides. We wanted to relax in the TV room one evening, but the remote didn’t work and DVDs were scattered everywhere, some without cases. The rooms could use some maintenance, our bathroom sliding door’s bottom guide was loose, causing it to jam, and the toilet paper holder was barely attached. The bedside table drawers also didn’t close properly unless slammed.

The property is older, which means quite a bit of creaking at night. Sound travels easily from the unit above, and footsteps were particularly loud.

Overall, the warm service, great location, and restaurant made it an enjoyable stay, but a few maintenance fixes would make a big difference.

Pros:

The restaurant was buzzing when we arrived for dinner, and there was about an hour’s wait for a table, so something to keep in mind if you're planning to eat during peak times.

Our neighbours in the room next door were quite noisy until around midnight, which made it a bit hard to wind down.

That said, the staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming, and our room was spotless. We really appreciated the care that went into keeping everything clean.
