Its not as luxurious as it says . The rooms are very dark and dated , need extra touches such as slipper and dressing gowns , high quality toiletries. The bed is way to high , Im 165cm tall but still needed a step too get up. No TV in the room.
It needs to upgrade with the times , i. Im sure other hotels locally are more modern and up to date. Especially as the beach is massively disappointing, its dirty with ocean rubbish not just drift wood but from boats etc . The hotel needs to offer a wow factor which it’s missing. The staff are pleasant enough, all these things are noticeable as its low season.

The ocean view was very nice from both the room and the pool area. The staff very courteous and the tempurature of the water in the pool was exceptional.

Tambor Tropical is an exceptionally well cared for property. We were well taken care of by very friendly and attentive staff. The hotel is a great place for a quiet and peaceful getaway.

This isn't a comment towards the hotel, but we felt important for visitors to know that the beach isn't a great swimming beach. It is great for sunrises, long walks, and not sharing it with many other people.

There are very few rooms so there is never any crowd either around the pool or for dining.
The resort is fairly isolated so there is usually an expensive cab ride ($50-$100 U.S.) to go anywhere unless its part of an excursion.

This is a fantastic location, the property is so much better in person than as advertised online. The staff is great and the beach is fully of seashells with very little traffic. In fact, we were the only ones on the beach for several hours. Absolutely beautiful hotel!!! Will come back!

Beautiful place! Photos don't do it justice. The owner has a teak farm up the hill and the buildings inside and out are made from teak. Such craftsmanship!

Rooms are HUGE and airy. Only 12 villas. You can eat/drink at the resort, or wander down the street for other dining/drinking options.

The staff is friendly and attentive. Javier arranged all our excursions - snorkeling, bioluminesence night tour, ATVs.. Just perfect!

Everything was perfect down to the most minutions details. Our suite was amazing, with all the space and amenities one could think of. We were able to watch the beach sunrise from our bed every morning! The property manger Juan Carlos Cruz was on top of it all! All the staff members were amazing! Namely, Karyn at the front desk, and Xander and Emily at the breakfast bar, The massage session was extremely relaxing, out of this world! I recommend this resort to couples, friends and adult family members anytime.

This is an amazing resort. Small resort with the most amazing large teak rooms right on the beach.The rooms have a fully equipped kitchen large washroom and huge living space. No details have been spared on these luxurious suites. All the staff go above and beyond.If you are looking for quiet high end resort look no further this is the place and you won’t be disappointed.

Had an amazing time the Management and staff were incredible.

Lovely rooms, with kitchen.
Air con worked well, but didn’t really use it much as the room was well designed so the sun didn’t heat the room.
Scarlet macaws outside room at dawn and dusk, plus howler monkeys occasionally.

Negative
The included breakfast was just juice, fruit and granola. It seemed stingy to charge for eggs!
I’m short and the bed was very high so had to ‘Fosby Flop’ to get into bed (not joking)
