My week in the Greenbelt Suite was excellent value. I had a super comfortable bed, huge walk-in shower, strong ac, fully equipped kitchen, large living room, and a private veranda perfect for reading and morning coffee overlooking the lush greenery. Every staff member was friendly and knowledgeable; all spoke fluent English.
Breakfasts onsite were delicious and two massages by Eduardo in the spa were of an extremely high standard.
Getting down the hill is easy and many of the best restaurants and bars in the Zona Romantica are a short stroll, but everyone should understand that the walk back up the hill can be challenging (cabs and Ubers are everywhere though) and there are many steps inside the hotel.
This is easily the finest place I have ever stayed in PV and I would he happy to return for luxury and pampering
Casa Cúpula: A reflection of energy, not hospitality.
My recent interaction with the owner revealed a level of hostility and projection that no traveler should experience. I canceled my trip during an active safety situation in Puerto Vallarta. Instead of understanding or professionalism, I received accusations, disrespect, and retaliatory behavior.
When I responded with clarity and asserted my rights, the owner labeled me “aggressive,” even though my communication was direct, calm, and truthful. After processing the refund, his server blocked my email — confirming the avoidance and the lack of accountability.
The last time I stayed there, I became sick for the final two days. This time, a cartel incident occurred on the exact days I was meant to arrive. That alignment was divine protection steering me away from a place that no longer aligns with my path.
Hospitality is not just décor and branding. It is energy, humility, and how you treat people when circumstances shift. Casa Cúpula failed that test.
Travelers deserve establishments that honor respect, not react with retaliation.
There’s nothing more disappointing than booking a PH suite at more than $400/day and having plumbing issue whereby you are standing in a shower with inches of regurgitated back-flow.
That may have been overlooked, if it hadn’t been for unsatisfactory services to boot:
1) The hotel is on top of a steep cliff and walking to close by restaurants isn’t really an option for food and spa services.
2) never before have I had three toes bleed in one pedicure. The spa “technician” had the nerve to get an attitude when I asked him not to be so rough. To add to that, the foot bath was a cheap bucket brought out without electricity for a 5 minute plunge in an hour long session.
3) the food at the breakfast bistro was an epic failure. With only 3 other occupied tables at the time (all with food), I waited 30 minutes for scrambled eggs and hash browns. After asking 3 times about the status of my order, they finally brought out cold hash browns so soaked in cooking oil they were inedible. I left and paid in a rush to go to a yoga class of site.
4) the final nail in the coffin: upon checkout I notified the concierge Simon, who had been helpful from the beginning, of these issues. He assured me that they would make an accommodation via our chat message. I told the cashier about that upon checkout. He said Simon would take care of it after I closed out the bill. And of course, due to the “technicality” of the bill being closed out, I was told there was nothing they could do any longer!
What a waste of money! Go stay at a real $400/night resort in PVR and get your money’s worth…because it didn’t happen for me here….
Perfect in every way. Incredibly well maintained, beautiful oasis, a place to relax and enjoy oneself, but slightly out of the downtown area. Easy access to the beach, and the hotel will even drive you there if you're not in the mood to walk down the hill. Our suite was amazing, and the staff could not be more welcoming and helpful. Not our first visit to Casa Cupula, and certainly not our last.
Nice room and friendly staff; very nice pool area for gay parties
Got the room under the pool area. Don’t book it if you want to sleep: from 8 am on Sunday morning I could hear a lot of noise above my head
A great experience all around. Our accommodations were roomy and comfortable. The food and drinks were tasty. The best part was the staff. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Highly recommend!
The property itself is so beautiful, clean, and a great deal for your vacation stay! I stayed 4 nights and the only complaint i jave is walking to and from romantic zone. If you dont mind walking ots about 12 min on foot but its kind of a workout back up the hill and stairs when its hot. Other tha. That the property was perfect. Restraunt had delicious cesar salad and civiche
Casa Cupula was an amazing experience. From Boris, Felix and the team at reception, to the bartenders and servers… the hospitality and friendly, welcoming culture was magic. Easy walk to the malecon and bars and restaurants. Will definitely be back.
What a fantastic find! We stayed at Casa Cupula last week and I am still in the afterglow. It is perched amongst a jungle-like setting (which means if you're walking to the nearby market you'll have to walk down a hill) and not directly in the zona romantica which is fine as who wants to be in the middle of everything all the time. The staff is very accommodating, very professional and laid back. They have a shuttle into town during daylight hours, so special judos to Angel who felt like our personal driver. They have two pools (one clothing optional), jacuzzis and one of the best hotel gyms I've seen. The grounds and hotel are spotless. The. best part? Our room (or should I say apartment) which had a living room, dining area, full kitchen and great master suite. Saturday afternoon is party time so all the local gays visited. A great hotel and time.
After arriving at Casa Cupola I quickly realized that I had made the correct choice in accomadations. The facility consists of an historic villa. The newer addition to the property demonstrates a tasteful blend of old and new. Rooms are more than sufficiently appointed. Towels are superior quality. The location is a bit off the beaten path creating a more tropical natural setting. Much more desirable than the concrete reality of nearby condo row. However it is only a very short Taxi or Uber ride to the nearby Romantica Zone. Wait time for ride share or a taxi was never more than 15 minutes. There is both a convenience store and pharmacy within walking distance. The onsite restaurant is available for breakfast and lunch and is extremely convenient. The gym is larger and better equipped than the average hotel gym. I did not take advantage of the services offered by the spa. I cannot say enough about the staff at Casa Cupola. Your stay at Casa Cupola will also be supporting an LGBT owned and operated business. The Saturday pool party and Sunday Brunch offered an opportunity for meeting and mingling with other hotel quests. Fortunately the hotel allows non quests to attend these events for a reasonable fee. I met several other Americans from nearby hotels or condos along with locals. I recall one couple from an all inclusive resort regretting that they had not booked at Casa Cupola. I have plans to return to PV and will definitely choose Casa Cupola for any return visits.
Excellent place to stay in . Friendly staff . Thank you
My room was spacious and the staff were super friendly. Great views of the beach.
Came out for the Saturday pool event — the host and the show were definitely the highlights! Super creative with great energy, interactive games, and an all-around fun atmosphere.
Unfortunately, the bar was a different story. It felt disorganized and messy, and the cocktails were subpar. The server had a really unpleasant attitude. We left a $6 tip for four drinks, and he actually told us it wasn’t enough, which made the situation very uncomfortable.
To top it off, his uniform was messy and had food stains, which didn’t exactly inspire confidence. Honestly, the service didn’t warrant an exceptional tip, and the way it was handled left a bad impression.
Overall, the event has potential, but they seriously need to invest in staff training — both in customer service and basic bartending skills.
Great property , very central ! Always happy to help .
We absolutely loved everything about this property. It was our 20th anniversary, and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We have no complaints. We even changed plans for our December trip to Brazil so that we could spend the time in Puerto Vallarta at this hotel.
This was my first time in PV Cupula was equal parts beautiful and social.
I have stayed there before. The last time was about 10 years ago. Casa Cupola has seen better days. The facilities were a bit run down. The room needed a make over. Bed comforter had holes in it. Bathroom was a bit dingey. TV never worked although we didn't try after the first day. Was supposed to have an ocan view, but you had to look way to the left to see it. We were in a suite, room 301. Although I feel it was an adequate value, will probably stay elsewhere next time in PV.
The staff welcomed me in a way that I felt I was visiting family ! The hotel is amazing. As a solo traveler had a lot of fun and was able to host my friends in common areas. The hotel surrounds are safe. Boris, the hotel manager and Noel, pool bar attendant were amazing. Cannot wait to book my next getaway in Puerto Vallarta!!
Super friendly and helpful staff. This place is a gem and walking distance to the gay beach and nightlife while still maintaining a secluded vibe up in the hills. I had a beautiful view from my room and loved all the amenities including the gym. The pool bar was great for socializing and the restaurant on site was great for a late morning breakfast. This is my 3rd stay here and I will be back again!
We booked a cabana for the Adam & Steve pool party months in advance. When we arrived, we found that they had given the ONLY cabana to another party. They placed us in a couple of “VIP” double lounges by the pool stating that it was comparable. The cabana is on a separate floor, very private with its own hot tub. The lounges were in between the pool and bar in a very high traffic area. The cushions were dirty. Not comparable at all! The overall space was dirty as well. The go-go dancers constantly harassed us for tips. Very disappointed with the experience. We would not go back.
