Staffs are very friendly, very close to train station, easy walking around the town
Clean and comfortable. Decent location for my needs
Stayed here for one night, it was comfortable enough for the price. Breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful.
Ok for rate paid.
The hotel is very dated and could do with a cosmetic refurbishment, but it was clean, comfortable, the free breakfast was well cooked and enjoyable, there was little noise disturbance despite our room overlooking the train station and the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. If you are not fussy about decor, this is a good place for a one night stop off or for business stays. If the hotel wishes to be more desirable to people on holiday or tourists, it will definitely need modernisation of the decor and furnishings. Overall, however, we had a pleasant stay.
I don’t have problems staying g at simple hotels. I’ve stayed in several along my journey, specially as a backpacker, this hotel is not simple, it’s terrible! This old building needs urgent reinvention, the whole building smells terrible, room was extremely dirty and washroom smell mold. Breakfast was kind of disgusting: everything looks like it was still immerse in oil, and of course we had the bad smell.
Location was good, close to the train station and easily access to the roads, but everything else was a nightmare. This was probably my worst stay ever.
The only problem for me was there was no hot water for the shower and the floor boards were very squeak
The hotel was okay, spacious room and breakfast included. The location was fine and there was parking nearby too that was convenient. The room was a smoke-free but it didnt smell like it was. There was a particular odour of smoke in the room. The water pressure in the shower eas not great either The hotel is obviously on the older-side but not "old chic" more like "old and worn and in need of painting". Still it was convenient and reasonably priced and the staff were friendly.
Location was great for my purposes.
Interior in need of a refresh, but offered everything you need for a nights stay.
Breakfast was good.
This is a period hotel with creaky floor boards, beautiful old furniture and ornaments, Service is wonderful, staff lovely. Beds very comfy, lovely fluffy towels, great English breakfast. Big rooms. Very good if you like historical hotels like we do
Very disappointing stay. Firstly hotel car park was full and only option was across a busy road at over £15 per 24 hours. Room was very poor was stains on carpet and even on one of the towels. Avocado coloured bathtub had water stains and fluff in there, floor looked like it hadn’t been refurbed in decades and shower attachment was a dribble and for warm water only the hit tap turned up all the way. At night, the floorboards were so creaky that anyone entering the hallway made my door and bed rattle and woke me up several times until 1am making me very tired in the morning. There was no air conditioning and the room was stuffy. The only part saving Grace was that the manager made a little effort at breakfast to be welcoming but still a lost cause. The coffee was weak and almost unpalatable. A horrible stay, one of the worst experiences I’ve had the displeasure of in recent years.
Dry strange place, owner watching you eat breakfast and everything was to much trouble.
.
Ok and suited purpose of my visit! staff friendly and very good breakfast
No wi fi in room/corridors need hoovering. Very tired room. Awkward route March to room. Clean sheets. Nice helpful but overworked barman , Jez. Ok for a night stopover
Nice and convient to Bank Quaystation
Well you get what you pay for and in this instance thankfully I used Tesco club card vouchers converted to hotels . Com
Vouchers as I wouldn’t have paid to stay here. I read the reviews before booking and ended up booking due to it location and it said parking available. Parking is available but only for 6 cars so it’s first come etc.
Had a informed and friendly welcome. Hotel it’s more than tired and the rooms very basic and even tho clean looked un clean due to the amount of work that’s needs doing. Bathroom was modern which was a surprise considering. Basic mattress and bedding.
I wouldnt book again.
Ok place if you need a bed for the night near the train station. Pretty tired place and in need of an overhaul, this is reflected in the rates.
Still the old creepy floors and paper thin walls but has had a lick of paint breakfast was a joke the milk was off and the fry was very dry sitting too long
Slightly old-fashioned hotel, but clean and comfortable. Room was decent size, and bathroom had new sink and toilet installation. Bath was 80's style Avocado colour with decent shower over bath.
Continental breakfast, included in price, was quite good and fresh.
Hotel car-park is faiiirly small, about 6 - 8 vehicles only, and good be difficult to exit if full.
