Booked the Hampton for my wife and I and our elderly parents for staying in Edinburgh to see the Tattoo. First time my wife’s parents have been to the Tattoo and my Mother’s last time was 20+yrs ago. They were so looking forward to it but Hotel was awful. Rooms were so old and run down. Mould in the showers, fitted bed sheets that did not fit the bed (too small), carpets were dirty, dust and dead flies on the window sills in one room.
Check-in was so disorganised and issues with parking as they had metal bins and trollers outside covering parking bays.
Party in the bar that went on until after 2am with loud music and singing. Kept us all awake and our parents were so tired after a long day. Beds really uncomfortable. No regard for guests at hotel with loud music and noise from the party in the bar. Then loud shouting outside until gone 3am!!!
To top it off in the morning breakfast was poor. Not the fault of the 1 member of staff who was doing the kitchen, cooking, order taking and service, he tried his best; but come on, 1 person on their own doing that. Tea was stewed so had to ask for fresh and cooked breakfast had ran out of stuff as Bank Holiday weekend and were closing so very little left. £170 per room per night and £12.99 for breakfast - really!!!! Was awful and never going back and feel robbed. Not a snob at all but this was horrendous for the price we paid and feel so embarrassed for our parents as this was meant to be a special memorable weekend for them!
Great place, really friendly staff. The amenities are as you’d expect from a charming older property. Thanks for hosting us!
Only a few small parking spots avaliable on site
Staff very helpful, breakfast was lovely. Would definitely stay against n.
Very nice place extra friendly staff
Spotless and warm
This is a lovely inn just outside city center, the staff is really friendly and welcoming
Good food reasonably price. Property in a good spot not too far from city centre with regular buses to the centre, helpful friendly staff.
Hotel was of a reasonable standard in a good location. Parking was limited but we were lucky enough to get a space when required.
We have been travelling around Ireland and now some of Scotland. This was an amazing place. Highly recommend you stay here. They even offered to let us park the car there while we did a hop on hop off bus of Edinburgh. Bravo Hampton.
Very friendly staff. Clean room. Big fluffy towels. Quiet area. Beautiful area. If i had to pick at anything its to keep the coffee, milk etc stocked each day rather than having to ask for it. But overall loved our stay and would definitely stay again without hesitation.
Great staff and service. Great food and drink
Fabulous stay at The Hampton. Charming Inn with the most wonderful people. Restaurant fantastic with live music some nights that was terrific but no worries ends at appropriate hour. Perfect location for Edinburg or quick access to rail and air travel.
Good, clean and convenient
The staff were fantastic the food fantastic, the traffic noise unbearable and two flight of stairs unmanageable.
Room was not attended to for three days
Our stay at the Hampton was very nice. Staff were extremely helpful. Especially the manager/supervisor on shift. Cant remenber his name. Breakfast was very good. A few things i would say that could be improved is the age of the room. By that i mean the floor was very uneven so it meant the drawers sat at an angle so the couldnt shut. Some of the drawers also needed to je fixed. The floor was very creaky. I also found there not to be enough power plungs for charging my various gadgets and have the lamps on.
But overall i really enjoyed my stay. Well situated to bus and tram routes. And again cant say enough about your very friendly staff, they were amazing!!
Great little hotel with nice staff
Nice comfortable bed, friendly staff, nice clean room. Thank you
Great food, generous sized rooms, quiet
Carol was amazing & accommodated to what I needed. I wish we could have stayed longer. Beds were comfy, clean and the building is beautiful. Scottish breakfast is a must, food was perfect. Service was amazing too. Thank you so much for an amazing stay.
Location for zoo is perfect and just a £10 taxi ride into grass market at the bottom of the steps upto the castle.
Arrived a little early for check in but the young lady had no problem with that and got us booked in straight away. The room was clean and comfortable, shower a bit cramped but ok. The young lady on duty gave advice on public transport which made our evening trip simple.
