Steigenberger Icon Grandhotel Handelshof

Perfect location for the Christmas market scene, solid value, nice room and fantastic sauna area. We’ve stayed in some of the nicest hotels in the world and the Steigenberger brand was new to us. What a delightful surprise. We stayed the night prior in the Steigenberger in Berlin and it was a delightful surprise. We felt the value was excellent - in part because of Black Friday sale. The room was great and having bath salts for the fantastic tub was much appreciated along with the free waters. Berlin charged even for coffee pods which was disappointing. Although we didn’t need the sofa bed, it was set up for arrival and we noticed that it was very high quality on par with a bed not the typical sofa bed. if we were only traveling with one of our kids we would have been fine in one room. The Biosense sauna made my day the with its eucalyptus scent. The gym is on the small side and very warm. We have been so pleased with the Steigenberger brand that we have switched our upcoming reservation in Vienna 21-23 of december from Hilton to the Steigenberger. Hoping it lives up to our expectations…

Lovely experience at the Steigenberger Icon, Leipzig at the beginning of December. Entrance is a little underwhelming when compared to other large 5star hotels but the welcome at reception was genuinely warm and sincere. Room was large enough with a beautiful bath and walk in shower. We had asked for a quiet room and were very happy with the low noise levels; despite having many Christmas Markets stalls right outside the hotel. Cleaning was efficient and seamless.
Breakfast was superb with excellent scrambled eggs and a large choice of bread, cheese and cooked meats.
Overall a lovely, professionally run hotel at the heart of a beautiful city .

This is a superb Hotel in a great location. We visited Leipzig primarily to see the Christmas market and we wanted to stay in the heart of the town. The Hotel is certainly that and right outside is the entrance to the market. The welcome was warm, the valet parking efficient and courteous. This continued in reception with great service for our bags and being shown to our room. A small demonstration of the air conditioning and other key features of the room were a nice touch.
The central bar area with an amazing conservatory type metal and glass roof structure is quite stunning. The bar service was quick and professional.
The breakfast was comprehensive and of good quality. The al La carte menu had good choices and the service was again efficient and effective. On the second morning we did encounter a rather curt greeting from a female member of staff. It made an impact within the sea of courteous and pleasant staff encounters.
The bedroom was clean, extremely comfortable with a very generous bathroom with separate shower and great views. We asked for some additional softer pillows and they were delivered quickly and without fuss.
On departure the check out process was professional and efficient. The car was delivered back to the front of the hotel in short order.
If we return to Leipzig, we will stay again at the Steigenberger without hesitation. Highly recommended.

Visiting from England we were so pleased that we stayed here. Expectations were high and we were not disappointed. Lovely welcome and efficient valet parking. The staff are professional and friendly and above all, efficient. Everything we asked for was met with friendly willingness. The room was very comfortable and the bed good. Bar staff excellent (as are the local wines!). Breakfast varied and good. Wonderful tea station! Two very small things. The welcome at the breakfast desk on the 11th Dec was brisk and unfriendly. Also a shower cap would be helpful for women. We also recommend the Italian restaurant just opposite the hotel entrance.

The hotel is centrally located with easy access to Leipzig University, shopping and historical sites. The rooms are well appointed and elegant. The rooms are quiet and the service was excellent. I would stay there again if I travel to Leipzig.

I've been to Leipzig before, but it was my partner's first time there and I wanted her to have a really special experience, which means staying at the Steigenberger. It feels like a Grad Hotel and the service from all the staff is exactly what you'd hope for in a Grand Hotel. The room had everything we needed and was very clean, tidy and quiet. The staff were all smiles and happy to help us with anything and everything that we needed. The location is ideal - right by the market square, with old and new buildings, shops, restaurants and cafes. This couldn't have been a better trip or a nicer place to stay.

Convenient location, we could walk to all the sights we wanted to see. We were there on a Saturday and the area around the hotel was very lively, yet safe to walk around as well. The rooms were modern and well designed. Friendly staff.

This hotel is HIGHLY recommended. It was just superb. Everyone was super friendly and nice. The room we stayed in was absolutely gorgeous not to mention comfortable and very spacious. The hotel provided both sparkling and still water every day! Fabulous location. The only thing that would have made our stay more perfect was if the spa was opened, but it was closed for renovations. Hopefully next time!

Beautiful Hotel, clean and staff is professional and friendly. Great Breakfast, Hotel is in the middle of the Centrum. I would definitely recommend it to my Family and friends.

Amazing hotel, great spot exactly in the center of the old city. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. The staff is very nice.

This is a lovely hotel in the old style. Very well appointed room with everything you need. Tv doesn’t have Comcast which is something luxury hotels are now supplying. You need this as there are very few English channels.
Breakfast is excellent with made to order food on request. Great service in all departments. A real 5 star feel to this hotel. Can’t fault it and I assume it’s the best hotel in Leipzig. Would stay here again.

The property is really nice and the rooms are comfortable. The only thing that was dissapointing was the gym, lack of proper equipment or the knowledge to set up one for a five star hotel. There are more than ever frequent tourist like me who will not choose a hotel without gym. Please put a thought on it.

This is a grand old hotel with excellent service and beatifully appointed rooms, a great breakfast buffet, a good lobby bar, and good food.

Well-located central hotel exuding quality. Professional and, mainly, pleasant staff. Comfortable well-equiped accommodation. Good breakfasts. Altogether very good.

Having stayed at this hotel three times now, what impresses is the style it exudes, all the comforts, amenities and facilities it offers - and that it all works seamlessly. Lovely staff in all areas are also worthy of note. The location could not be better. If attending either the Opera or Gewandhaus, an easy 8 minute walk will see you there.

Wonderful luxury hotel, great customer service and excellent breakfast and restaurant. The guest room was very well appointed and super comfortable bed. We hope to return next year!
