I choose to stay somewhere else when visiting New Bern, NC due to worn out mattress in my room.
Pros:

The Staff was friendly and helpful. The nightly Rate and the location were GREAT . . . near MCAS Cherry Point and a few local attractions.

Cons:

When we walked into our room, it was clean and organized . . . and so was the bathroom. However - when I sat on the bed, the mattress was NOTABLY worn-down on one whole side, making transitioning in & out (of the bed) hard, and my sleep quite restless. The mattress was very well worn-out! I put my spouse on the "better" side, but we were both having trouble getting comfortable.

Cons:

The room felt dirty . Therewas sparkle on the walls but never finished painting . The tv didn’t work..the hallways looked like they tried to clean the carpet but didn’t work.the dresser where the refrigerator is was all rotted. We were there for 1 night.

Overall, this is one of the best places to stay in Havelock
Pros:

The facilities are always clean. The staff has always been very nice. It’s a great location to our son who is stationed at Cherry point. The breakfast is always good. The indoor pool is a nice option.

Cons:

The king mattress in our room needs to be replaced. We stayed several days and tried to flip it and spin it but it just sags. I also don’t like sleeping on microfiber sheets because they apparently do not let your body breathe; I always sweat and have trouble staying asleep when using them.

Cons:

Room and bathroom was in need of repair. Grout in shower was dirty, walls in the room had damage. Cracked tiles in hallway. There were clothes in the drawers from the previous guests. No bath size towels in room

Small ant like - tiny black insects.
Pros:

The location and the cost for the rooms.

Cons:

The comfort which didn't seem to be a king size mattress that I paid for.. There were insects that looked like tiny black ants. They were crawling onto the bed and other furniture in the room.

Felt just a bit less than I would expect from a Holiday Inn Express
Pros:

The remote had to be held a certain way for it to work. When I brought it to the attention of the staff that's what they told me. They said it was scheduled for a remodel. After checking in, we went out for a few hours turning the lights off as we left. When we returned the lights were on. I was told the maids were checking towels. On a room they had just cleaned?

Overall a really good value. Nothing fancy but it was a safe and comfortable place to sleep.

Quiet location. Nothing fancy but definitely not run down or anything. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was in a good location with options to do what we wanted.

Don’t waste your time or money. Find some place else.
Pros:

Th front desk crew - two younger ladies - tried everything they could to fix issues and were very helpful. Great attitude!

Cons:

Broke air conditioning unit with no solution in 100 degree weather, leaking tub which put water all over the floor, stained carpets and drapery, peeling wallpaper, rusted out hardware, no working bathroom exhaust, non-programmable remotes or working clock, couch in room was leather like cushions that were cracked and worn. It was extremely disappointing. Beware if you are there during a sports tournament - one washer and dryer for the whole complex and two (one broke) slow moving ice machines. We will not be staying at any Holiday Inn express in the near future. The day manager looked confused when we said we were not happy and dying of heat in our room. He begrudgingly offered a one $50 compensation which was ridiculous. Our first EXTREMELY HOT first night should have been refunded. Do better Holiday Inn because this was not it.
