Very friendly staff at the front desk and during breakfast (which was excellent by the way). Free parking next to the hotel and only half an hour walk to the city centre. The rooms we had (104 and 108) were spacious and clean. When visiting Edinburgh, we definitely would stay here again.

Excellent location for all city attractions. Scenic setting. Friendly, professional staff. Wide range if goid and drinks for breakfast. Hot food individually cooked on request. Didn't have dinner at hotel but menu looked good and reasonably priced.
Less heat in common areas but that's a personal preference.
Location was good, staff very friendly. Restaurant is great and had lovely cocktails. Breakfast was excellent. Room had everything required and a nice shower.

Comfy bed and good sized bathroom. Welcoming staff on reception. Handy to be able to park car.
Stayed at the Scholar a few times but on this occasion room was poorly laid out and lacked daylight being in a dark corner on the ground floor. We were unable to open one half of the wardrobe due to its proximity to the bed. Lack of hooks to hang anything eg coats or towels in the bathroom.
The Scholar Hotel is tastefully appointed and calming. The room was quite spacious for a hotel room. it was spotlessly clean. There are big fluffy towels and a warming rack. If you need a fridge, it’s there, along with tea, coffee, and snacks . the bed is super comfortable, and let’s talk about the views, at least from our 3rd floor room: we saw Arthur’s seat and the beautiful old hotel next door.
The breakfast is varied, even with fresh fruit. We also had a few small plates that were excellent, especially the green salad with fennel. The gentleman at the front desk was very gracious when we arrived quite late. All the staff are exceptionally helpful and charming.
