Stunning hotel which is centrally located in the heart of San Miguel. Gorgeous rooftop bar/restaurant with beautiful views of the city. Totally enjoyed our dinning experience here. Great service, wine and cocktail list but fell short on the veggie options on the menu which was a disappointment for me. The garden kitchen restaurant on the property was outstanding. Lovely views, bar, menu and service. I was there celebrating my milestone birthday and every time we checked in at hotel restaurant they would ask if I was celebrating something special and I would say my birthday, but unfortunately I never got a special dessert which was a disappointment.
Also, it took a long time to check in and after all that our room was not ready, so they said they will give me call. Two and half hours later never received a call and so I finally checked with the desk clerk and she said our room was ready.
I really enjoyed my stay there and would recommend to friends and family.
We had to dig a station menu with the wine pairings. The waiters seemed aloof and did not pay any attention to anything we said. The wine pairings were poor. For example, the meat course had a white sparkling wine when it should’ve been a bold red. The courses looked unique, but they did not match. The looks with flavor.
Wonderful sunset experience with delicious, but expensive snacks. Cocktails somewhat stingy on alcohol content in Bloody Marys and Margaritas and they charge to top up drink so that one can taste the alcohol
Spectacular experience for a birthday celebration! Our stay was most memorable, as our suite overlooked the cathedral and the beautiful town of San Miguel de Allende. If you're planning on a trip, this property is the place to stay! Do not hesitate to dine at Pirules - the food was unbelievable. The rooftop bar is special too with phenomenal views.
This is a beautiful hotel. However, a basic requirement is totally ignored by the pool management. They refuse to supply more umbrellas. San Miguel is at 7000 feet with very direct sun,
Guests can't get umbrellas and the cabanas are fully booked each day. How is this OK when the room rates are $800 per night?
The staff suffers because so many guests are asking for umbrellas and they simply cannot find enough. Another suggestion is to fix the TV on one of the two stationary bikes.
Went for brunch today with friends . The staff was very uninterested in serving us . Hard to get their attention once we sat down . We’re told that the brunch menu would be avaliable til 2 . Sitting down shortly before 1 o’clock
we felt we would have adequate time to enjoy all the stations available . . We ordered off the menu and waited waited for the food arrive . The portions were small so we checked the stations a second time . Lo and behold the stations were being dismantled by 1:45 and we were scrambling to get some desserts . The Mexican traditional food stations were also diminished . The pleasant canned music playing overhead was switched to loud pounding music and servers all of a sudden appearing to clear the table and present the bill .
1100 pesos per person for terrible service and little food .
Don’t mind paying money when you get quality service and adequate food .
Certainly won’t recommend the brunch
Gorgeous grounds about 12 minute walk to the central part of the town (the church and jardin.) Service is mainly warm and kind, though not very efficient, and sometime there were less polite/kind staff like at the cafe and one of the housekeepers.
We rented one of the residences (3 bedroom) which are located not in the main property, but behind a gate to the side of the hotel. Very secure and with an attendant at all times. It is new and looks almost like a “Disney” version of the charming town. The residence itself was not as charmingly decorated as the hotel suite we booked on our last trip, but had a great rooftop deck with bbq, an interior courtyard, and for a fee you could have breakfast delivered to the suite. Unfortunately the housekeeping was a bit uneven…I found a hair on the sink when I first arrived, and they did not do turndown service one of the evenings.
Overall I would say the hotel is almost a 5-Star experience but needs to pa attention to the small details to justify the high price.
We love SMA though and are already planning a return visit!
Rosewood San Miguel de Allende
Staying at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende felt like stepping into another era—one where politeness is instinctive, quietness is respected, and art, history, and beauty are woven into daily life. There’s a subtle European sensibility here, blended seamlessly with the soul of San Miguel.
The experience is deeply sensory. Drinks were superbly crafted, breakfast consistently delicious, and their baked goods—truly divine. Every morning felt intentional, unhurried, and indulgent in the best way. Yes the baked goods deserve special mention—especially the croissants, which were truly fantastic: buttery, flaky, and perfectly baked. They alone are worth waking up early for. So enjoyed the Pan de Muertos cart edition!
The gardens whisper calmness. They hold a rare kind of peace—serene, grounding, and almost meditative. It’s the kind of place where time slows without asking permission. They create a tranquil escape from the energy of the city while still being perfectly located near the historic center. Walking through them daily felt grounding and restorative.
Then there’s the rooftop. The views, the sunsets—absolutely breathtaking. Watching the sun dip behind the city’s timeless silhouette captured my heart completely.
We stayed for a full week, yet it felt far too short. Honestly, staying thirty days straight would be a dream—one of those places you never want to leave. Much like the song says… you can never leave.
I’m genuinely curious if there’s a better stay in San Miguel de Allende. For now, Rosewood sets a standard that’s hard to imagine surpassing.
Great staff!!!!!
Really beautiful hotel and very friendly staff
Great hotel
This is one of the best hotels I ever stay in , it’s beautiful, the service is impressive and all the amenities are top , I definitely be back soon
The service is great. The rooms are beautiful and the pool too.
Beautiful property, friendly staff that’s attentive to detail
Excellent
The staff and property exceeded my expectation
I love the premises!
Beautiful property by the park. Away from the bustle of centro but less than a 10 minute walk to everything. The only issue is that the food and beverage staff seems mostly uninterested. Spent an afternoon at the pool and had to chase someone down to place a drink order. Brunch was a huge disappointment. Tons of options but no attention to detail. Cheese plate was prepared days in advance as all the cheese was dried out. Fruit and juice were beyond sub par. Flavorless and not ripe. San Miguel is a Mecca for incredible produce and they missed the mark here. We asked for an $19 glass of champagne 2 times before getting it. Funny to have to almost beg them to take your money. The gentlemen in the tequila bar though are wonderful. They regale you with stories about tequila and mezcal. Truly enjoyed spending 3 evenings with them as we wrapped up each night.
We were treated like royalty! Everything was perfect! I hope that we can go again sometime.
I really enjoyed my stay at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende. The property is beautiful and I especially appreciated the turn down service and welcome. The pool area was relaxing and clean, and the rooftop bar had great views. It was close to everything in town but also secluded enough that it was very quiet.Thank you!
