A Beautiful Hidden Gem in Key Largo!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Azul del Mar in Key Largo, Florida. This beautiful boutique hotel exceeded our expectations in every way.

The property is clean, spacious, peaceful, and beautifully maintained, with a gorgeous waterfront setting and spectacular sunsets. The grounds are excellent, and we loved the unique furnishings and character throughout the property. Being conveniently located back off the main road made it feel private and relaxing while still being close to everything Key Largo has to offer.

We also appreciated the thoughtful amenities, including the free washer and dryer and the ice machine conveniently located behind our unit.

What really stood out to us, however, was the management and their exceptional hospitality. We needed to stay an extra night, and they were incredibly cooperative and generous. They upgraded us to their best suite for the same price, which was an unexpected and wonderful gesture that made our stay even more special.

Azul del Mar is truly a special place, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable, relaxing, and unique place to stay in Key Largo. We would absolutely stay here again!

Lovely property! We enjoyed the pier and beach area which was very peaceful and a great sunset view. Our suite was spacious, comfortable and well maintained. Amazing western view. Will definitely return on our next visit and also recommend to my friends.

Great location, the property is beautiful, the room was spotless and I haven’t slept like I did last night in YEARS. The bed, bedding, etc was so comfortable, the view was breathtaking. I’m so looking forward to my next stay.

I have been visiting the Florida Keys for over 15 years, and while most properties share a similar basic setup, it is the level of customer service that truly sets them apart. This is where Azul de Mar truly excels.
The rooms are impeccable, and the entire property is spotless. It is a wonderfully quiet location with a dedicated staff that genuinely cares about their guests. You will not regret choosing Azul de Mar for your stay.
This will now be my go-to destination in the Keys. I am happily leaving behind my previous lodging, located just a few miles farther down the road.

My toddler and I loved our stay here! The beach feels so private and calm, and my little girl loved playing in the sand and in the shallow clear water. The room was spacious, clean, and super welcoming. I was surprised to find this gem, so much value for the money! Service was great 🩷

We rented the Boat House room.
It was very clean. It has everything you need if you want to eat there. I was extremely happy that it had a keurig coffeemaker with everything you need to have a coffee in the morning.
The outdoors is very well kept. The only thing I didn’t understand was that around 12:30 at night someone is doing fumigation for mosquitoes with a very noisy machine. It didn’t bother us because we were awake. But the timing is not right.
The ladies on the front office they all were very nice and helpful. We are already making plans to stay there by September.

Hidden gem! Exactly what we were looking for! Beautiful beach view and access, paddle boards and kayaks, hammocks, quiet sunsets, just perfect. Our room was more than what we expected - funky design and nicely renovated.

We had a wonderful stay. The property is quiet, relaxing, and perfect for couples looking to unwind. The waterfront views were beautiful, especially at sunset, and the grounds were well maintained.

There’s no words to truly describe how wonderful Amoray and Azul are. You just have to experience it all first hand. Amazing rooms, amazing views. Amazing staff. It all just works!

​Azul del Mar is the absolute best secret of the Keys. It is the perfect romantic hiding location for a getaway. Our room was incredibly clean, featuring a very comfortable bed and excellent pillows that made it hard to wake up. One of our favorite parts of the stay was having coffee in the morning while looking out at the sea, and the evening sunsets are simply irreplaceable. To top it all off, the service is just a text away, attentive, fast, and seamless. We will definitely be back!

The location was awesome, close to everything! The views were beautiful from the deck and a tiny beach to get in the water. Quiet and peaceful watching the boats and the sunsets in the evening!

★☆☆☆☆ – Disappointing Stay, Misleading Photos, Poor Response from Management

My wife and I stayed in the La Palma Suite for her birthday getaway. We chose this property based on the photographs shown online and the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Unfortunately, our actual experience was very different.

The biggest issue was that the room we received did not reflect the condition portrayed in the photos. While it appears the property may have been renovated years ago, much of what we found showed significant wear and deferred maintenance.

Some of the issues we encountered included:

• A bed that creaked loudly with virtually any movement, making it difficult to sleep.
• Shower water that never became truly hot and had very low water pressure.
• Mold or mildew buildup visible beneath the sink rim and inside the sink overflow opening.
• Rust and corrosion on bathroom fixtures.
• Upholstered furniture that was stained, worn, and damaged.
• A closet door that would not properly close because it was off track.
• Exterior areas that looked noticeably different from the photographs used in advertising.
• General cleanliness and maintenance concerns throughout the suite.

After reporting the bed issue, management acknowledged the problem and offered to move us to another room with a new mattress. We packed our belongings and prepared to move. However, before the move could occur, the replacement room was reassigned to another guest. We were later informed that because we had not responded quickly enough, the room was no longer available.

What disappointed me most was not simply the condition of the room, but the lack of meaningful resolution after management recognized there was a problem. Once a room change was offered, I believe it should have been held until direct contact was made with the guest.

To be fair, my wife and I still enjoyed our time in the Florida Keys and had a wonderful birthday celebration. The location is beautiful. However, the accommodations themselves did not meet the expectations created by the property's marketing photographs, and management's handling of the situation left us disappointed.

I encourage future guests to look carefully at recent traveler photos and ask questions about the current condition of the specific room they are booking before making a reservation.
