Rooms were beautiful and clean
Food was good quality and very well presented especially breakfast with lots of choice
Staff were very friendly and helpful
The cost of meals even in the library bar are a little high so ok for a one off but could be expensive if staying for longer than one night and as tasty as it was the buttermilk chicken was a bit to spicy or peppery
Everything
Everything about our stay
This is a full blown castle with nooks and hides holes and a challenge to find your way around but marvellously quirky
It was a little tired and stuffy but it was hundreds of years old so well done on the plumbing and hot water
The location and castle were fantastic.
We were given an upgraded room at no extra charge which was superb. Amazing history to the castle with original features.
Maybe it was just me but the T V was difficult to work.
Upon check-in by a very nice Gent. we had an upgrade from our superior courtyard room to the King James Suite. This was perfect. We enjoyed the room and the space.
The breakfast was very good. We have stayed here many times, but this was the best by far. Thanks to all
Nothing
Peaceful location and a stunning setting
I had to check out and leave for work….
Tolle Lage
Schon etwas älter
Location was excellent for Beamish museum. Staying in a real castle for 2 knights. He he
All good
Better than the photos
Breakfast absolutely delicious and the staff were brilliant
There was nothing I didn’t like
Enjoyed the location, the historical setting is fabulous. The food was great
The TV didn't work.
Tem quartos bem pequenos, outros um pouco maiores. Mas para quem está acostumado a ter ar condicionado nos quartos sente falta. Fui no verão e fiquei 2 noites. A primeira foi bem quente. A segunda refrescou um pouco.
Poderia ter freegobar e ar condicionado.
Lovely location. Excellent staff. Great food.
Disgusting, dangerous bathroom. Old building, I understand, but we have building and safety regulations for a reason. Had to walk through the shower cubicle to the toilet. 350mm tiled sharp step and tiles throughout, causing a slippy surface. Shower cubicle so small that I kept nudging the controls resulting in scolding water. Absolutely treacherous. Guy on reception called this an upgrade. You can keep your upgrade Pal. That room is dangerous.
The castle was built in the 1300s. From the outside and the inner courtyard looking at the building it is very cool.
The interiors are very shoddy and need a humongous amount of investment. The place is moldy and smells like fish. My entire family got sick from the poor ventilation and mold that has seeped into the fabrics and carpets over centuries. As a hotel designer myself, every room needs updating that could keep the charm while still feeling a bit more upscale. Couldn’t wait to get out of there fast enough.
A beautiful historical venue!
But didn't encounter any ghosts!
I was only staying one night!
Staff lovely as always.
Stayed a few times and some rooms small and perfectly formed. This room was small with nowhere to put anything and rather tired!
