Beautiful castle stay, breakfast disappointing
Pros:

Beautiful setting, quirky rooms (our bathroom was hidden in a wardrobe), beautiful estate. The bar is wonderful, tucked in the castle, with an interesting and wide selection of drinks.

Cons:

The breakfast was not what we expected from a 4 star hotel. The buffet contained packed cornflakes, individual packets of jams, stale bread, just a few fruits, fruit juice from concentrate. Nothing looked very appealing. For the avocado toast the kitchen used store bought guacamole.

So Near and Yet So Far.
Pros:

Food at the hotel is excellent and the restaurant staff are very pleasant and efficient. It was good to have a choice of eating in the main restaurant or the Lounge Bar. Both were very good. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable with good pillows. The WiFi is good even in our room which was quite a distance from the main building. The grounds are well maintained and pretty.

Cons:

Despite asking for pre-registration 3 times before our arrival where we requested dinner in the restaurant at 7pm, the system does not transfer that information so we had to have an earlier dinner reservation which did not suit us. The receptionist did not suggest that we could have dinner in the Lounge Bar where no reservations were needed (we found this out the next day for ourselves) and was very dismissive of our disappointment.

We were booked for 3 nights, so the room being serviced is an OPTION! This suggests a stay of less will provide no service in the rooms. The room being serviced was a scant affair - eg cups not washed, tissues (4) not replaced, milk in sachets not replaced. The room needs a deep clean. Every surface was sticky or dusty. The window frames were black with dirt. One one light bulb flickered the whole time and another did not work. The TV remote control had limited application to the TV even though a new one was provided when we asked about this. The same limitations applied, so the TV cannot be controlled from the bed. It switched on and off from a switch on the wall beside the TV. The programme guide is unavailable nor could subtitles be used.

The dressing table chair was broken and could not be safely used.

Our room, No 91, was a the far perimeter of the estate and next to a generator or some such plant machinery which droned incessantly like a 'plane engine and we found this disturbed our sleep.

Excellent.
Pros:

We liked everything about the place, the staff were excellent and answered any questions we had with a smile on their face, and nothing was to much for them, the brakefast was on point.

Cons:

We had a meal in the bar my wife loved her meal but mine was lacking, I had the stake and ale pie it was hard and the meat in side was burnt, but the staff were extremely nice over it and took it of the bill and gave my wife her pudding on the house which I thought was above all expectations so I thank the staff for there kindness 😊.

Friendly staff, enjoyable stay, a favourite haunt of ours!
Pros:

Me and my fiancé have been four times now. We love the places. Staff so lovely and helpful, rooms beautiful, and has great vibes

Cons:

Found the restaurant a little bit cold and clinical, we find the bar and the bar menu is more relaxed and enjoyable, but appreciate this is subjective.
The heater had broken in our room, but we got a free upgrade, so it was a negative that turned into a positive!

A treat for me and my sister.
Pros:

A place with history. Loved the way tables were spaced to give the feeling of privacy in the dining room.

Cons:

I’d have liked a bench to sit on whilst waiting for my Uber.
