Rooftop Restaurant
This was our first time visiting Ambon, and I traveled with a group of five friends. We chose Swiss-Belhotel Ambon because we trust hotel chains to meet a certain standard—and it truly lived up to our expectations. We booked directly through the Swiss-Belhotel app and were grateful to get a new member discount, which made our stay even better. We reserved three rooms in total.
Even before arriving in Ambon, we were already impressed. Ms. Deby, the GRO of Swiss-Belhotel Ambon, reached out to us and provided exceptional service. She consistently checked in on us before departure and upon arrival, ensuring everything went smoothly and asking if there was anything she could assist with. Her attention to detail and care really stood out.
Upon arrival at the hotel, we would also like to give special thanks to the General Manager, Ms. Dini (Cluster SM), and of course Ms. Deby for arranging such a warm welcome for our group. We truly felt appreciated. While chatting with the management team, we enjoyed a delicious welcome drink—made from a mix of gandaria fruit (and another ingredient I unfortunately forgot). It was incredibly refreshing and highly recommended!
When we entered our rooms, we were pleasantly surprised to find that they had been upgraded—thank you so much to the team for this thoughtful gesture. While the hotel itself is a bit older, everything in the room functioned very well. The air conditioning worked perfectly, the cleanliness was excellent, and the beds were very comfortable throughout our stay. The amenities provided were also of good quality. We also appreciated the noise level—it was pleasantly quiet, allowing us to rest well after our busy days.
Another plus point is the hotel’s location, which is very convenient. There are plenty of food options and souvenir shops nearby, making it easy for us to explore and pick up local treats.
The hotel also has a rooftop bar (apologies, I forgot the name), which is quite cozy and worth a visit. The prices are reasonable and still very affordable.
Due to our tight schedule while in Ambon, we unfortunately didn’t have time to try the breakfast. Hopefully, we can experience it on our next visit.
Once again, thank you to the entire Swiss-Belhotel Ambon team for the warm hospitality. We truly appreciated it!

Geen internet tv wat niet werkt 2 wk aangegeven. Elkdag vragen naar Handoeken als we al liggen te slp komen ze pas brengen. kamer worden niet schoongemaakt alleen bed opgemaakt. Voor dit hotel is het slechte service en voor het geld dat je daar zit. Eten kan beter dingen waren er niet als je wat wil bestellen. Personeel skybar was heel lief. Debby bij de receptie deed heel veel voor ons. Onze zoon had ook een kamer lag een welkoms cake we zaten daar 2 wk en de cake stond er nog toen we wegingen dat is dan 2 wk.
Having just checked into this hotel, I want to posted this while everything is fresh in my memory.
Walking off the elevator, the lobby reeks of heavy smoke. The front desk was chaos, with a lot of staff looking very disorganized.
The gentleman in front of me attempting to check in to his prebooked non smoking room was advised his room would be a smoking room. He showed his confirmation that clearly noted a non smoking room. In the middle of speaking to him the clerk came to me & asked for my ID & confirmation. Leaving him unattended & without resolution to his booked non smoking room & without keys. As the clerk ignores him I attempted to connect to the wifi to pull up my confirmation. When the wifi wouldn't connect the clerk asked if he could see my phone. When he couldn't get it to work, then then TURNED OFF my airplane mode without asking. I grabbed my phone as soon as he did this & turned it back off. To no available I received numerous texts as my phone had only been on wifi since arriving to Indonesia 6 days ago. Canadian mobile data roaming rates are horrific. I looked at him & asked him why he would do this & he just stared at me.
The whole time, the original gentleman he was helping was standing there unattended to, while several other staff continued to be disorganized & in chaos.
I asked to speak to a manager, with no response from the clerk, just looking aimlessly into space.
Since he had already turned on my data & it connected, I turned it back on & he took a pic of my reservation. I comment he should assist the other gentleman 1st. The clerk did not.
The gentleman that was left unattended, finally asked for any & just his keys.
Another clerk stepped in & gave him keys, eith and apology, but he still had a smoking room.
I asked again to speak with a manager & the clerk that turned on my data then disappeared in he back for almost 10 mins, coming back out with the printed sign-in form with a room rate other than my booking confirmation. Of anything, he should have discounted my rate for the $26 data charge I am dinged with in Canada because he turned on my data without my permission. This is such a violation of privacy & completely unacceptable.
When I questioned the room rate, he had no explanation. I asked again for a manager & was advised he was not there & "might" be back at 7 pm or many in a few days.
Upon obtaining my keys, the pleasant young lady that assisted the guest before me, escorted me to my room. The room temperature on entering was 28°C. When I mentioned this she quickly turned on the AC (which is cooling very very slowly).
The room is large, but very dated, like something from the 1970's, 1 small towel in the bathroom & no bathmat for the shower or facecloth.
Still no wifi & she requested a technician to come assist. That was almost 1 hour ago, so I decided to use my expensive data plan, why things are fresh in my mind, to ensure I post this review.
I booked a non smoking room & while it doesn't smell as bad as the lobby, there is a distinct smell of smoke.
I stayed at another location in Sorong a few years back & had a completely different experience. That is why I chose this hotel for a quick overnight. This location is clearly a management issue.
AVOID AT ALL COST
Hotel in serious need of refurbishment. Mold in bathroom shower, stained carpet with holes, outlets in room did not work, light fixture in clothes closet fell out, and terrible internet.
Good breakfast, good location
Rooms very stuffy and smelt. Carpets were not clean. Several facilities advertised on their website (,eg games room) did not exist. Internet was very slow. The hotel added charges without informing meet in advance.

Sauberkeit ungenügend, Kakerlaken am Frühstückstisch. Licht im Zimmer nicht vollständig dimmbar. Ausreden des Eigentümer, da dieselben Einwände bereits vor 5 Jahren gemacht wurden

The location is in the middle of Ambon city, gave easy access to go everywhere. The view is definitely golden!
Staff are fantastic, bedrooms are big with nice crisp bed linen, and the roof-top bar is exceptional with its views of Ambon and great choices on both the drinks menu and food menu. Best hotel in Ambon, in my opinion.
The 'fitness centre' was basic and quite sparse. Could start with more than one treadmill and bike, some gym/yoga mats for floor work and free drinking water, then build up with more hand weights (lightest weight was a very bulky pair of 5kg weights) and one or two multi purpose machines. Hotel in general starting to look a bit tired and in need of a freshen up, however, it's clean, comfortable and welcoming and I always look forward to staying there when I'm in Ambon.
