The positives include the staff, the location and the quietness of the room. All benefits at the Pullman Brisbane. Unfortunately, that is where it stops. Self-parking was the only option on B3, no lift, so you take your luggage up the driveway ramp to B2. The room was very dated - no mobile USB (of any kind) - a dial-up modem connector was there - fridge didn't work, no mini bar. You separately paid $ 55 for self-parking. So not a great experience (the age of the hotel and rooms) let the location down
This hotel is on the corner of Roma and Ann streets, so it is conveniently situated next to a bus station and not far from Roma Street Railway Station.
Our room was a large corner room with reasonable views, but, like the rest of the hotel, it showed signs of wear and tear. Some maintenance would not go astray.
While most things we needed were in our room, we were surprised there was no clock and no jug in the fridge.
Fortunately, we had taken our own charging cords, as while there were power points galore, USB charging points were sadly lacking.
A small amount spent on what are really minor issues would add immeasurably to the pleasure of staying there.
The Hotel was very faulty. One lift had not been operating for some weeks the other did not show what floor you were stopping at inside the lift. The pool shown on their website belongs to the hotel next door and accessed through the Mercures lifts (we were not advised this on check in) the bar/food shown on the website does not open at least not early January the pool belonging to the Mercure is very small. If you try and phone the Hotel they do not answer at least on the weekend over a 10 hour period. I left my expensive Hair straighteners in the room. We went to the Hotel 3 times to retrieve and were told they were not there. We then said we would file a complaint with the police for theft as we know they were in the room when we left. They then said they would check one more time and guess what they found them. We got a refund for the second night we were to stay after day 1. This is not 5 star more like a poor 2 star and needs to be revamped which the manager agreed it was overdue. So probably the worst Hotel and help service we have ever been to in at least 40 years. Maybe suitable for a backpackers.
This is a really run down hotel and quite dodgy.
There was only one lift working be that it was also faulty.
The pool is actually at the Mercure Hotel next door and there is no operating bar or food as advertised on there website.
I left behind hair straighteners that was only located after two visits back to the hotel and then advising them we would make a complaint for theft to the police then after one more look they were found.
We believe you are charged 5 star prices and get two star accomodation toilet ran all night again faulty.
Very run down rooms not great very sad.
Any where is better than this.
Maybe would work as a backpackers.
This not a 5-Star Hotel! Service at check in was not polite. We are Diamond members and the lady at the reception didn’t tell anything about the Hotel or about anything else either. There was only one elevator (the other one was broken) and people had to wait really long time for the elevator and it stopped in every floor. It was terrible! The rooms are old fashioned. Breakfast was good but very busy.
What a disaster! Couldn't book a carpark online when we arrived there was no parking available. We parked across the road and it was much cheaper. At check in the lady have us our room card with no information of where breakfast is or where we'd find the restaurant. Got to our room and its definitely outdated! For the price you pay for a room in the 13th floor its safe to say we won't return anytime soon. Paint was peeling in the bathroom, our room needed a good vacuum. Shower door kept jarring open and water would leak out onto the floor. Very poor lighting. Went to find the rooftop bar, asked the security man where we could find it, he said due to a function we can order a drink there but we have to take the drink back to our room. The is located in the mercure tower which is a long way to be taking our drinks back to the pullman tower. Finally got to the rooftop and managed to get a table. Went to order some drinks for me and my partner and the barman obviously had an attitude problem, rude and abrupt. No one was monitoring the function as they were coming on the in-house guest side of the barrier to order drinks which was very disappointing.
Breakfast........
We went early so you'd be thinking everything should be nice and fresh, well the bacon was hard and eggs over done, seating was very spacious but when you go to get your food it was very compact almost bumping into each other. Sausages were sitting in oil which wasn't good. Bad start to the day. In the afternoon we wanted to go for a swim but were told the pool closes at 5pm. Its 28'c late afternoon but couldn't use the pool, so disappointing. We thought we could try the rooftop bar before we head out and as we approached the lift at the Mercure bar the was a sign that said the bar was closed due rain? Or wet weather. The thing in the morning there were light showers. By the afternoon the sun was our not a cloud in the sky and as a guest it felt like I'd spent money on a place where you couldn't take advantage of the facilities. An absolute let down and 100% disappointing! You're literally paying for the location rather then the actual property. So after the failed attempt to use to rooftop bar we went to the restaurant bar to enjoy our welcome drink. As we sat at a table an in-house guest had ordered their welcome drink to. They asked the young barman if they could sit in the restaurant ( which was empty) but were told they had to remain in the bar as where they wanted to sit is a restaurant only?
Seriously? I'm now willing to give up my points and Status to join another brand. What a let down!!!!
Stayed one night. Concierge was very rude. Car park full told just park across the road. We did that and paid $30 overnight compared to the hotel at $50 overnight. Room was shabby and tired with the covering warn off the desk chair. Bathroom not clean. Main bar booked out for a private function and had to go to the cafe for our welcome drink. Left next morning and went to get the car and the same concierge was rude again saying do be more than 15 minutes to go back to the room and proceed to checkout. Pullman Melbourne and Pullman Brisbane are chalk and cheese. Brisbane is so tired and in need of a major upgrade and staff education. Won't be back anytime soon.
I had a wonderful 3 night stay here. The location is very convenient. I was here for work purposes.
Staff were helpful and facilities great. Breakfast and dinner was good.
Rooms were very spacious. Gym and pool access was handy
The Pullman Brisbane King George Square is in desperate need of renovation. The carpet in our room was threadbare, the bathroom dated with a shower over bath and no exhaust fan, and the whole room looked worn and tired. The lifts are noisy and slow, and street noise on level 7 was constant — very little soundproofing.
The gym (shared with the Mercure next door) had no air-conditioning, old equipment, and the connecting passage smelled strongly of mould. Calls to reception and concierge were never answered. Nothing in the minibar, and overall facilities did not match the advertised standard.
The only positive was a comfortable bed, though the pillows were flat. For the price, there are far better hotels nearby. Disappointing and not close to 5-star quality.
Super unimpressive for a ‘5 star’ hotel.
Rooms are old and outdated, in particular the bathrooms. The entire building needs a revamp to bring it up to standard. Basin in our room had large cracks all through it. Bar fridges are entirely empty and nothing like you would expect for a ‘luxury’ hotel.
Rooftop bar/restaurant doesn’t open on a Sunday so there is no chance to relax by the pool with a drink. Zero atmosphere anywhere to be found in the hotel.
A very underwhelming stay overall and disappointing to say the least.
Loved the piano in the foyer. Cleaning staff were so helpful.
Excelent service
This is the worst Pullman Hotel I have stayed at.
My other experiences with Pullmans have always been excellent. Staff here are all good and professional. But unfortunately that is where it stops. Rooms are outdated, old and have many faults. I am a Accor member but will never stayed here again. Hard earned money should not be wasted here as I am sure there are other Hotels in BNE more deserving. This is NOT a 5 star Hotel…maybe it was 20-30 years ago.
Recently held my husbands surprise 50th at Sixteen Antlers rooftop bar. Thank you to Urdy the Guest Experiences manager who went above and beyond to help my with the surprise party. Every time I stay at this hotel I am greeted by the most amazing people from concierge to Golfinch staff especially Vlasta, Monish, Alessandra, Riley, Muloogu, Shelly and Fernando, all the little things you never goes unnoticed! The Omelette station is the best that I’ve experienced at any hotel, Kylie and the chefs always go all out for us and all guest!
Unmaintained rooms. (not room service).
Clean room, very nice breakfast, good pool and gym. Could not ask for more really
High price for average room.
Upon arrival we were rather impressed when seeing the lobby. However that is where it ends.
$110 for parking which is not specified in the room description. Our room smelt damp and to make things even better our ceiling was leaking in the ensuite. Celing of the bathroom wasnt even painted and you could see the water damage through the horribly attempted setting.
One savings grave would be the staff. However management need to have a serious look at pricing of rooms if the cleanliness and functionality of rooms is this poor.
Would not stay again
Putrid
Great location & facilities !!
You can tell that this is an old old hotel that's had a surface-only renovation as soon as you get out of the lifts. The smell is just like an old motel. Actually, it's before you even leave the lifts that you notice, as the controls don't indicate what floor you're currently on, and the doors make a sad whine as they open.
The rooms aren't any better. The aircon controls are from the 1980's, which even though have been set at 15c, don't really cool the room. The shower is from a similar time era, with impossible-to-control-temperarture old taps, and one of the basins has a big crack that looks like it's been there for decades.
The decor is nice, but I don't see how that makes it a 5-star hotel, when everything under the nice wallpaper is still just an old, worn out hotel.
