The pretty building, the friendliness of the one member of staff we met and the comfortable beds. When I reported there was no hot water in the hand basin the receptionist first of all tried turning on a booster. That didn't work. Then he gave me access to another room when I needed it. He couldn't have been more helpful.
No hot water in the hand basin. A shower unit placed so high I would have had to jump to reach the top controls. In the other room the tube to the shower head was broken. A wonderful dining-room was no longer open to guests. No room service was available but help was given to us for ordering a take away. But there was no table or second chair in the room. The exterior and interior paintwork of the building was shabby. I appreciate that hotels are experiencing difficult times and maintenance and staff costs are too high. This beautiful building deserves better!
Cheap price. Parking available. Powerful shower.
The decor is dated and the hotel is looking quite tired.
A comfortable room.
The receptionist was very kind to place me in a ground floor room when he saw my mobility issues and helped me bring my bag in from the car
The sheet didn't reach the bottom of the mattress, the boiler for the building was in the room cupboard, the windows looked into corridors, with wooden floors this meant heating the night porter doing his rounds, the room was airless and very hot.
As the room was changed on my arrival I can't score down cleanliness but the TV, mirror and table were dirty. The toilet seat needing adjustment over the bowl. The kettle was on a table directly under the TV. The photo on booking.com showed a beautiful wisteria which has been cut about 2 ft up so it is now just a dead vine dressing the front of the build, though this may be preparation for decorating the outside?

Rooms a bit tired
Every thing
Great
It was Far from the centre.
Love the downstairs room leading out to the pool
I have never been so frightened in my life. I arrived very late from my job so I had no choice but to stay one night in what I can only describe as a horror hotel. I thought I was going to be abducted in the middle of the night. No lock on the door disgusting stained sheets and pillows, rust and dirt everywhere. I had a full on panic attack I felt so stuck and scared. No woman should ever have to go through that, I had no choice but to try and sleep at this horrible place. I tried to get my money back for the next night but they were not cooperative. I cannot understand at all how these charltons are represented by booking.com. I have launched an official complaint this place is hazardous and a total scam - DO NOT STAY HERE.
Everything
Location perfect for where we wanted to go
Didn't have breakfast
The rooms are lovely, it's a very nice quaint hotel. Good price and very pleasant staff.
We would definitely book this hotel again if we were travelling in this area. But only if you replace the ironing boards/irons.
The only thing to let this hotel down was the ironing board / irons.
Travelling as a group we had 3 rooms. All the ironing boards were grotty, stained and the covers was very thin, making marks on the clothing that we were trying to iron.
The irons were old and has pieces missing from some of them. As we were travelling for a wedding it was really important to make sure the clothes were ironed and despite us loving the hotel for everything else, this massively let it down.
It’s location for where we wanted to be
Large bedroom, warm with a comfortable bed .
The en-suite needed a bit of Tlc.
Easy to find
Everything was good
