the staff were incredibly hospitable and could not have done more for us. the boutique hotel is beautifully laid out and decorated. i would highly recommend.
This hotel is absolutely sublime. Themba and his team are excellent ambassadors and made our stay well worth it. The breakfast was delicious and a good variation. A real gem in a quiet part of Stellenbosch. Thank you for hosting us.
We had the most wonderful three night break here at the start of the month. Bertie and his parents who own the property are the kindest people and really go out of their way to look after their guests and make them feel welcome as does Themba who works incredibly hard. We loved the individual rooms and the striking styling of the hotel. No bland corporate chain hotel vibes here! The beds were so comfortable and the bathrooms spacious and luxurious. The breakfast offerings were also delicious and freshly cooked and prepared.
The hotel is in a fantastic central location making walking into the town quick and easy. Highly recommended.
Friendly staff who helped us organise a wine tour and an evening mean- Berth was brilliant :)
Smallish rooms.
What a beautiful old world boutique hotel, amazing friendly and helpful staff, excellent position, so central, really enjoyed our stay. Themba was the best !!
Tucked away down a leafy street right in the heart of Stellenbosch. Batavia is a family operated establishment and is a very special place. My 80 year old father stayed here and was welcomed with smiles, opened arms and warm, kind hospitality. Like many guests he will return! His room was large with a separate kitchen and full bathroom (free standing bath) and close to both of Batavias pools. This little gem of a guest house is a minute's walk from Dorp street where you'll find many excellent shops, bars and restaurants catering to all tastes and budgets. Also, museums, churches & gardens which Dad enjoyed walking to and exploring on his own. Thank you very much and see you in 2027!
Beautiful and quaint
Would prefer breakfast to be optional

Wish we’d stayed longer
A lovely hotel. Staff very helpful, a very compact quirky hotel. Enjoyed our stay, good central location.
Läget och personalen var fantastiskt. Bad/dusch/toa kändes helt nyrenoverat och mycket fräscht. Trygg parkering.
We have stayed at Batavia in the past. It is a great location with safe parking and a friendly helpful staff.Themba as so accommodating. Breakfast was nice both warm and cold. A nice relaxing hotel!
Excellent location, walking distance to all the facilities in town, reasonably safe parking. Staff well trained, very friendly and serve a very good breakfast
The wifi is exceptionally poor. Most of the time we had no to very little wifi access. For an establishment at the upper end of the market this is no longer a luxury but a necessity and so easy to implement
Convenience to Stellenbosch town, restaurants and facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Out room involved climbing stairs and the design meant a very tight space in the bedroom. There was a small sitting area downstairs that was not used.
Great staff, great, even better than expected, location, team superb. I missed the pool, too busy visiting wineries.
Location to town and the staff
Much smaller than the photos led you to believe!
etwas enges Zimmer
