Excellent
This is the best resort I have ever stayed at. The people who work here are incredibly nice. The amenities are incredible and the natural beauty of the place is unmatched. The place is surrounded by jungle, but somehow the resort’s cleanliness is top tier. The rooms have such an amazing feel, and the private hot tubs are incredible.
El Silencio Lodge & Spa is an excellent retreat for a solo traveler. 5 star treatment across the board. The staff were welcoming and helpful. They took care of my every need. This property offered everything from food, drinks, spa, outdoor experiences, complimentary amenities and wellness activities all on-site. I felt safe and secure in this luxury environment that far exceeded my expectations. Best foodie experience ever!
Property was beautiful and quiet. The drive up definitely had a few narrow and steep parts. You will need a 4 wheel drive car. The staff was warm and friendly. My only complaint was how difficult it was to make an appointment for the spa for a massage before my trip. I submitted through the contact form online and never heard anything. On the fourth day, I found the guest relations email and contacted them to book a service. I wasn't sure if I would hear back so I also messaged them on their WhatsApp chat. I heard back after 48 hours to my email inquiry. I also asked about any additional information I could provide to expedite my check in. They asked for the passport copy of me and my friends who were staying which I provided. However, upon our arrival after our long journey I asked about our information we had sent over as we were being asked to provide our passport, etc again. I spoke directly with Maria Fernando who I had been comminicating with by email and she said I must have her confused with someone else on the property. I asked how many others on the property had the same name as she did.
Gorgeous property, jacuzzi by the pool was broken but there was a private one. Food was amazing grounds were incredible. A bit cooler than arenal. Close to airport in the hills outside of San Jose. Luxury experience.
Amazing place! So much to offer all on the property.
Had the best time! We stayed for two nights and it was great way to start our Costa Rica vacation. Close by San Jose but yet so far. Romantic, clean, super friendly staff, and charming atmosphere
The resort property is beautiful, with many activities offered. The staff are wonderful and see to their guests' every need. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast each morning which was very good and had several selections to choose from. Given the resort's distance from restaurants, we ate on sight each evening. The food was very good, but unreasonably expensive.
Communication has been terrible and it has ruined my feelings about what was otherwise a nice weekend. Our flight was delayed and we were forced to sleep in the airport. I messaged the property many times and got no response. The next day our "welcome" was them telling me how the driver waited for us at the airport until 1 am. Trust me, we definitely would have preferred that American airlines had not screwed up our flight.
At the end of the stay, the driver again gave us grief about the airport. We tipped him both by card and cash to make up for it, then realized the property has charged us 3x the amount of the stated ground transport cost.
I asked them for a detailed receipt and they have sent nothing and are now no longer responding through email, Whatsapp or anything. I'm at my wits end.
The staff were all very accommodating and friendly. The property was very quiet and beautiful. The room was cleaned meticulously, in the morning and at night which is great if you enjoy an afternoon nap!
Will definitely be back.
Our stay at El Silencio Lodge & Spa was nothing short of magical. Nestled deep in Costa Rica’s rainforest, this luxurious retreat offers a true VIP experience in the heart of nature. Getting there can be quite the adventure, so I highly recommend using the hotel’s transportation service, especially if you're unfamiliar with the mountain roads.
The accommodations were stunning, with a perfect blend of modern luxury and natural beauty. We treated ourselves to the luxury suite for my mother’s birthday, complete with a private hot tub overlooking the river—an incredible setting to relax and take in the tranquil surroundings. Waking up to the sound of the forest and mist-covered mountains was a dream come true.
Each morning, we started our day with the complimentary yoga sessions, which were the epitome of peace and serenity. Practicing yoga with the backdrop of birdsong and flowing water felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Evenings were just as special with the lodge’s complimentary hot chocolate - the perfect cozy treat after a day of unwinding and exploration.
There’s only one restaurant on the property, but the farm-to-table menu is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish we tried was delicious, and the freshness of the ingredients, many of which come from their own gardens, was evident in every bite. The property itself is full of wonders, from exploring the lush gardens to learning about the medicinal herbs they grow right on site.
Up in the clouds - the drive is worth the trip to this amazing slice of heaven!
Beautiful mountain lodge
Hotel grounds and staff were impeccable. The only disappointment was no exotic animals. The hotel is nestled in the middle of a forest but no animal sightings.
Great place
Yes, the resort is breathtakingly beautiful but what makes this hotel special is it’s the people that work there. The service is beyond outstanding and they make you feel welcome. Special shout out to Milton in transportation, Daniel at front desk, Luis and Alejandra at the restaurants and Ma. Fernanda at the spa.
The hotel has all the luxuries needed for a relaxing, pampering trip and the food is absolutely delicious.
Word of advise, do not drive here. Hire the hotel transportation, it may be expensive but worth it
Excelent service, beautiful grounds, very clean
Excellent service, peaceful, beautiful nature
This lodge and spa is located in a valley between two mountain ranges at about 5000 feet (compared to Monte Verde 4300 feet) and is considered to be within the range of cloud forest. When we arrived, we were checked in and the host was very nice but failed to give us clear information of how to navigate the privately owned cloud forest with very hilly resort location and four water falls all within the property. Even though we mentioned that my wife is just recovering from knee surgery he completely ignored the fact. It was very cloudy and misty, and we wanted to finish the waterfall trail that evening. There are no clearly marked trail makers, nor the maps given were accurate. Maps were schematic and could not be relied upon for trekking. When my wife and I followed the trail, we reached a fork and had to decide to take either the mystery trail or melody trail. The map or the board showed no information on the level of difficulty. Our check in host just mentioned that they were both in a loop. We took the melody trail which turned out to be a big mistake and we struggled a lot in the hiking. This could have been easily avoided by any indication of difficulty levels by the guide, signboard, or the map. In any case, we made it. The waterfall was just OK, luckily while returning we took the mystery trail which was much easier and well paved though at some forks there were no sign. I do wish the property will improve so the visit will be much better for others in future.
Loved it.
