When trying to order room service I was screwed around and had to call 3 times to two people who told me it would be a 40 min wait. Also, the door security was poor. Not a great service at all.
Lovely clean, quiet and spacious hotel accommodation in the city of Derby. Me and some others were there for an event in the area, would stay here again. All staff were very polite, friendly and were ready to be of service if me or my group needed anything.
The property was undergoing construction in the ground floor lobby, so was a bit confusing finding reception. Beds could be comfier.
Amazing breakfast and beautiful view from Restaurant
Hard to find entrance when first arrived
Smell of paint strong but got better over the weekend
Great breakfast
My room (214) was a really lovely room and it was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was super too. However, there were some things other than the room that niggled me. The double doors between sections of the second floor often banged even when you were trying to pass through them quietly. This is just annoying (and noisy!) for all concerned. I had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the Saturday evening and it was absolutely fine but I did feel that the two guys running the show (one on the bar, one on the floor) were stretched a little thin. Maybe it was a one-off, but resourcing this properly should be looked at. And finally, I went to the Reception desk on the 4th floor after breakfast to enquire about the car park discount and to say I was packing up my things and will be leaving shortly. She said not to worry about bringing my card back up and told me to leave it in my room. She checked if I owed anything and think she must have checked me out as I was locked out of my room when I went back downstairs to finish packing. I had to go back up to the 4th floor and get it sorted. Also, the promised £8 discount wasn't applied to my car park charges when I was exiting the basement car park (Derbion) despite me adding my registration number to the system on Reception. Things like this are so basic, and SO easy to get right!
Nice staff
More options for breakfast
Very convenient location to Derby city, walkable to cathedral, shopping centre. Staff were great, room was very comfortable and clean. Would stay again.
I stay there a lot. The executive suites are amazing and great if you want to have a few friends around for pre drinks before you go into town. Very spacious.
The room was clean and spacious and the staff friendly and helpful. The location was excellent for the city and public transport. The breakfast offered a wide selection and the restaurant area was spacious and comfortable.
There is no mention of this on web site the entrance and first two floors are a building site. There really should be a warning about this - this is not a fully operational hotel. rooms are drab are poorly equipped. no complaint about the staff they were great but this is not the standard one used to expect for a holiday inn. perhaps it is now aiming at 2 star market
All good although finding the hotel via google maps can be a tad tricky due to all the turnings on the ring road and associated shopping city turn offs .
No parking on site means it’s not the easiest place to unload suitcases and than re park . Saying that all hotels in city centre have the same issue .
Parking in the shopping centre is new , secure and comes with a hotel discount .
Great location, staff were lovely and parking was reasonable and close to hotel.
Our mattress was getting old and sank in the middle, so we didn’t sleep well.
